I came across a documentary on tv a few years ago detailing how the Germans had plans to make a much larger 163-esque bomber that was going to be capable of bombing NYC. Between the speed, design, and materials involved it would have absolutely laid waste to Britain and America before Allied planes could even scramble to respond. A mockup was made by one of the aerospace companies (Nightingale, Boeing, etc) who did a variety of tests and proved the plans would have worked as intended.
Pretty scary stuff. |
