I don't really like Pulse 6 myself. Personally I'd use RPG 6 instead. Not the question you asked, I know, but I have all the bots and weapons in question and when I play Ares and Jugg together, I'll always go Plasma and RPG, never Pulse 6.

Pulse 4 and 6 aren't great until they get their first accuracy buff at rank 4. The ending EN capacity means you'll only be using 4/6 cost weapons on light bots once your roster hits rank 4+
Jug has better health and a persistent shield, so if you're running Ares and Jug in the same hangar, give jug the Plasma/Pulse and Ares the RPGs/MR. Ares' shield has a lot of down time compared to jug, so the short unload/long reload weapons are better for it.

Pulse 6s just don't do enough damage for how long you have to stay in the open firing. The others unload a lot faster. The weapons are pretty interchangeable on those bots. It seems like most people prefer Plasma on Juggs and RPGs on Ares, but when I run both I usually do the opposite. I don't like having slowly waddle into 75m firing range with the Juggs, although if you drop in close with it then a Plasma Juggs can be a real pita. When I run them solo though, I prefer RPGs on either. Also maps make a difference too. Plasma Juggs and RPG Ares are better for the close in map Acropolis. And on that map with the gangplank running all down its center, RPG Juggs is my go-to bot. I get up high with its shields and just snipe the heck out of everyone the whole match.

I find the pulse 6’s to just be generally weak. For the time it takes to unload them, they don’t do a whole lot of damage. Redfiend and S1E1 explain it really well. Pulse 8’s on the other hand have enough punch to make them usable; I usually keep them on the Panther because I find they work well with the protection of its stasis barrier while they slowly chew up reds - I’ve had a number of games where that combo gets one of the top mechs. But to your question, I’d agree, RPG 6’s are probably a better choice for Ares.

Rank 4 light bots will use 4/6 weapons, while rank 5 allows them to run 2x6.

If you were asking what "EN capacity" means, Redfiend is stating the energy limit of the Mechs which is the method of determining what weapons can be equipped to the Mech.

I eventually managed to figure it out lol. I only started playing this game more in the last week (coincides with when I stopped playing a certain other game), so a lot of the acronyms are unfamiliar

I still get confused when others use initialisms for the weapons like PC8. Cannot tell if they mean Pulse Cannon 8 or Plasma Cannon 8. But there are much less bots and weapons so it is easier to get my head wrapped around all of it.

Just my two cents but I run PC6 on my Jugg and RPG 6 on Ares. Both mech’s are 3.3 so I don’t have the energy to run anything heavier.
