So, with everything that's been going on, I've been learning unreal engine and blender. These programs allow even the smallest development teams to create full fledged games, for any platform. I'm personally at a loathe for the current state of mech games in general. Especially with the hope, and subsequent disappointment, in Mech Arena. I wanted to start a project with this community's input, to create something truly special. Of course, the first iteration will have to be single player, because of the up front costs related to server maintenence. Just filling out this survey helps war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/42512/mech-games-surveyFor an idea of what a single person can do, Destroy Gunners is a prime example of free/single purchase, single player mech games: If this post picks up any steam, I'll draw up some excel spreadsheets and some crude model concepts and make another post.

What platform is that Destroy Gunners for? The action looks a bit like the Gundam GunPla game but with more mobility and actual control of the mech. I'd love to try it!
Nevermind...installing now! Will try out later.

Well, first impressions:
- it's like someone tried to put Armored Core on a phone. - controls take a lot to get used to since I'm used to movement with left thumb and turning and firing with right thumb. This game, uses movement with left thumb, but the right one has to manipulate left/right arrows to turn and then touch the rest of the screen to aim, for example, you can swipe across a bunch of targets to lock your missiles and fire
Didn't play much more than that yet but I think it's worth downloading just to check it out. Graphics are cell-shaded and look decent enough. The first and only mission is a "wave" based type which I think is an awful way to get into the game. No tutorial or anything like that.

Controls are definitely janky, and that's something I hold against it because the PvP mech game control format is near perfect. With under the hood tweaks, the control scheme for Mech Arena would better serve a game trying to emulate AC. Sensitivity, turn speed, as well as lock size, speed, and distance are all controlled by internal parts in AC. Wide/fast locks have little distance while narrow/ranged locks are slower to hard lock, but are inclined to heavy hitting ranged weapons.
