So, despite having played now for about a month, this is my first time playing on Agora. It's a sniper's paradise! The map is probably the longest of all tourney maps I've seen at over 200m spawn-to-spawn. It has decent LOS cover for snipers to reload, but not much overhead cover except in the center and a few small umbrellas. The LA (and unfortunately, the RM) shine on this map. Also good (though I suspect less so later in the week) are the TL and SB lasers. As a test in my second round in a match this morning, I started with my SB12/TL4 Ares. It made the podium as the 3rd best mech with 3 kills and 5 assist. It's good for clean up, but had a lot of kills stolen out from under me. It was a good 2nd mech though if my LA Panther died before the end. The king of the map is definitely the LA panther. Self made cover, good speed and range almost to the back of the map means that you can move around for the best angles. I got a hot tip from ѻﻭɼﻉ this morning about a few good spots to set up camp. My favorite is the 2 ramped platforms near the back. There are 2 levels, multiple small covers and elevation to get better angles on unsuspecting mechs. You can drop down and get under the ramp in a pinch too I think (need to double check this though). Javelins can be good hear if you get up top of the central structure and manage to pin enemies back, but it's hard if the AI gets under you. Not a ton of cover up there though. I'd say a Jugg or Ares with Jav6s could do very well up there. (RM should do very well here too for many reasons, but I don't own any, don't want to own any and don't want others to use them on me, so just pretend I didn't say this...)

I used LA8 Ares to devastating effect on this map today. I also tried RM, but mechs got to cover too fast for me to do much damage. Although a sniper's paradise, there's good top cover. Even my Jav6 Killshot struggled to make decent kills.

So far ran 6 matches all LA panther peeking over the ramps. Expecting RMs raining down soon when im able to play again.

After a ton of matches here, depending on presence of RM, or enemy Javs on opposite ramp center, I have found the following spot to be the most ideal for Jav and MR builds in particular: What you will find is unless you are running long range builds, there are not very many ideal spots to tuck away safely for brawling. This spot is excellent because it is really difficult for anyone without Javs or RMs to target you, and you can move up or down the ramp to get excellent los on most of the exposed targets across the territory. The longer ranged weapons, Ares, and Panther are excellent for sniping. If you wanna use other builds, the side ditches and the center ramp shown above are your best spots for avoiding almost everything.

Deadeye mechtout, don't forget that Panther's Stasis Field can be used as protection from attacks from above like Javs and RMs. To do so, you just have to walk into your fence and make sure your centre is covered. This will protect you from above. Of course, you're now vulnerable from the sides, but that's what makes this game fun! On the topic of protection from Javs... Has anyone tried this? I've done this a couple of times and it worked if I got the timing down. You know how Javs can go over the Ares shield? Especially if you're up close? Well, twice now, I've blocked the Javs with the Ares shield by looking up just as the Javs are launched. The first time, I was some distance away so I shrugged it off and thought it was because the missiles had a flatter trajectory. But, the second time, the Jav6 Killshot had backed away to minimum Jav distance and fired. I looked up and the shield blocked the missles. Anyone else try this and can confirm this works?

i imagine in squad play you can place javs and MRs at Orge's locations, then have at least one LA set up on the back ramps to keep reds off of them

I don't have MR or LA. Do have Javs and RM if I have to use them. This will be a most challenging Tournament for my equipment for sure!

I've been keeping my Paragon in my hangar for early tourney matches, so I don't feel so bad if a 300 real player is there.
Well, I threw LAs on it today and ran a few matches... and my plan of being nice went straight into the trash. Even the Para can rack up double digit kills on this map. Performed better than most of my brawling builds on better mechs... SO... if you have any Para kill tasks... equip with LA on this map and knock em out in no time. I imagine Javs and RM too, but you would definitely have to play the more cautious game of judging where the Red is in relation to top cover, but it would work.

Those giant fountains on the sides also seem to have enough ledge to provide cover from RMs if you need to get closer

The side trenches seem to be a good spot particularly for Javelins. I only used them a bit, but went up against a guy who absolutely wrecked my team from there.

Because there is not a lot of cover to and from the trenches, I have found it better to only use a Panther or Ares over there due to shielding I've tried Javelin Killshot a couple times and done ok. Seem to average 3 kills before I get taken out. You can use the dash to get to and from the trenches safely. I haven't played a ton of matches with it though as shooting Longarms from the back and center is more effective. But I like that they're putting trenches into maps. You can disappear from sight there if you stay ducked down long enough. For such an open seeming map it's a sneaky little spot you have to keep an eye on.

The issue though with dashing there is the ai with longarms will get you, so I found. The best spot for Jav Killshot is the ramp shown in the screenshot of my earlier post above
