Do you unlock all the weapons as you progress? So far I have left almost everything locked. I bought the 2.99 Ares w. Pulse cannon. So I really have progressed my 3 days pretty well. I decided not to spend anymore till I found more info. I was thrilled to find the sub forum here. I have read and learned a lot. I wanted to add pics but not sure how. 3 days/ 3 1st place tourney finishes. 3 bot hangar killshot (Rank2 level 2) rpg4 Panther (Rank 2 level 6) rpg6 Ares. (Rank 3 level 2) Pulse cannon 6 1st question is...Panther is ready to rank up. Should I drop that 20k credits now? Put on the LA8? I hate the idea of sniping. I prefer to brawl.
So my 2nd question is should I unlock the plasma cannon 4? Which I could use on killshot till it ranks up. Or just wait it out with r1 lvl 4 RPGs 4? I tried not to invest heavily on weapons 2 and 4. Obviously I have more options available and any input is appreciated.
Resources are about 900 A coins 60k credits. I have just saved as much as possible. Resources management probably as a result of years of War Robots..

Welcome. Items are unlocked by the XP bar you can check on the top left of your home screen. If the Icon listing current XP is Orange, you have unclaimed rewards. Items have to be purchased before they can be used. They aren't available for purchase except by RM deals until the XP milestone is reached.
If you open the inventory tab on the bottom left of the main screen, items not yet unlocked(available for purchase) will list the XP milestone they unlock at.
To give you an idea, I have been playing for about two months, and I have 71,000 exp, meaning Zephyr, Brickhouse, Carbine 10 and Carbine 12 are the only items I can't purchase.
Panther: Yes, Rank it up to R3 when you can. Yes on the snipers. This game will punish you if you're not well rounded. You should make an effort to get acquainted with all of the weapons. You'll need to know their strengths and weaknesses if you plan on doing well. People that stubbornly stick to one thing tend to get bitter when they die to weapons they don't want to learn ?
It's safe to pass on Plasma 4. You'll only use them on early game tanks(Rank 2) or mid game light bots(rank 3). RPGs are the safer investment. Plasma Cannon 6 is worth picking up though. It's a decent weapon to put on your high health bots(Ares/Juggernaut) until you get to Missile Racks. Plasma 6 fills the Shotgun role on light bots close to the endgame.
Outside of Panther and Killshot, which are high end bots from start to finish, your hangar is up to you.
The only real guideline for actual hangar composition I'd give is to always make sure you have at least 1 Scout 1 Tank 1 Attacker

So I should have written do you purchase each weapon as you unlock them. Thanks for the great response. I will rank up now and purchase the LA8.

Unlocked on the XP path simply means available for purchase. You can skip buying items, but outside of keeping those items out of your daily mission tasks, there really isn't any reason to skip any item that costs 6 energy or more to equip. Items you have not purchased, but are unlocked, will still have their blueprints(upgrade materials) drop from blueprint sources. I'm taking the slow route and leveling everything up as evenly as possible, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else though.

I would say, be very judicious about what you purchase. I’m around 50k XP, and I have NOT purchased everything I’ve unlocked, though I did purchase a few weapons that I now wish I hadn’t. Variety and choice of gear to experiment with are nice, but the biggest issue I see is that once you acquire something, you start getting challenges for it. These become very difficult and time-consuming (and frustrating) if you have something you’ve decided not to use or level up that you suddenly have to get 15 kills with, or get MVP with ... three times. You can always acquire it later in the game, when you have resources to spare for leveling it up; but for now, try to resist the temptation, especially with weapons, unless you know for sure there’s one you’re going to run with for the long term. If I were to start over again, there’s probably half of my inventory I would leave on the shelf.

Danny Linguini only thing I can honestly say I regret is buying shotgun 4. Yes, definitely the one set of shotties, and I’m also having second thoughts about the mortar rocket 8’s. I could easily get by without those. Could also do without the longarms, too. Long-range stuff just doesn’t match my play style.

No, I had to take damage to Juggy while the shield was up, that was the challenge I was trying to complete. Best way to do that is to get in the most open line of fire, and I didn’t really care what I hit. I threw missile racks on because that’s one of the few en6 sets I had available. That’s the problem some some of these idiotic challenges - they are totally counter to any kind of winning strategy, which usually makes one look like a complete moron trying to complete them.

"Deal Damage with the shield up" is normal Juggetnaut play. Best strategy to do that is camp between two beacons, beat on anything that tries to take them, and take cover if the shield goes down. Kinda like the last game we played in Dubai where we won because I killed everything, and knocked off the last enemy with Juggernaut right as the enemy beacon bar hit 100 >.>

Shield on > go out and get it shot off but don’t die > hide until cool down is over > rinse & repeat. These are the wonderful win-inducing challenges I got last night. When I get a mess like this, I play to complete them as quickly as possible, and just don’t care about winning until the stupid ones are done. I’d have avoided squadding altogether, but I also had a play 3 games with friends challenge as well. As soon as I got those knocked off, I went solo the rest of the night. You just happened to be the lucky one to accept my invite. Be thankful I had the second one done before I sent out invites.
