It's specifically that they can add weapons effects to any weapon. Which, yeah, the lockdown ammo module did as well, but anyway...
The reason it bugs me is because you used to have to make a choice...to specifically select weapons that did one thing or another, and then work to position yourself to benefit from those abilities. Now, it just doesn't matter, and that doesn't reward smart play.
I do think that Pixonic still operates under the idea of "smart play yields benefits" but somewhere in there, they dropped the ball on this point.

Jeb: Yep, Pix selling power. Again. I wonder how far out they have this power war mapped into the future: Dec '20: Introduce Anti-Transcendence ammo in v6.4 Jan '21: Introduce "Nuke From Orbit" in v7.0 Apr '21: introduce Nuke Suppression in v7.2 ...ad nauseum... And I still play most days. :-)

Oh yeah, I totally play on the regular. It's still fun for me, and I take pride in fighting through it all.
