So I’m part German by birth and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio(Goetta is scrapple in Pennsylvania)and Goetta is a comfort food. I live in Japan now with little possibility of returning to the US any time soon. There are many dishes I just can’t get in Japan. What is it? It’s oats, onions, pork and spices made into a loaf then sliced and fried. If you’ve never had it, you should try it. So I made a batch yesterday and this was breakfast today. I’ll make a good German grandma someday

I'd use some veggie pesto with those protein bars, maybe eggplant-bullhorn pepper, or plain old salsa Searching recepies right now, gonna check back in with results lol edit: found this goetta recepie, defo gonna make it! www.daringgourmet.com/goetta-cincinnati-sausage-grain-patties/

I talked to my sister and she said she likes it with ketchup or Tabasco. I'm enjoying mine sans sauce so I can enjoy the complexity of oats and spices. I've been using my self-restraint so I eat it only every other day. I could eat the whole 1lb loaf in one sitting. Good luck! I made mine in a crock pot and some of the spices were different. Mace, Marjoram, Coriander and Ginger instead of Allspice, Sage and dried pepper flakes. This one looks good too. (I went to the Goetta Fest a few years ago. That and Oktoberfest and the WEBN Fireworks are the best festivals in Cincinnati)
