This question is in the Mech Arena subforum...

Replace ASAP. Rockets are more reliable, and all of your mechs will eventually want weapons that cost 6 energy or more. If you plan on running light bots long term, Plasma Cannon 4, Javelin 4, Rocket 4 and Pulse cannon 4 will be your go to weapons because of their low energy capacity.

It's very polished. There's very little lag. Population is low because it's not worldwide or advertised much, but AI fills the gaps. They can get a little screwy if you grind too hard. Only two modes are TDM and beacon rush. Beacon rush is casual, TDM is a tournament that runs from Tuesday to Sunday. Ranking cards make sure you're only competing on a leaderboard of people that started around the same time as you, and only have 20 spots, so the daily tournament isn't you trying to rank against the entire playerbase. There's only 12 bots. The only ones that aren't too great are the starter two, but that's just because they're average at everything while there's 5D rock paper scissors to how the other mechs interact.

You can buy higher level bots when offers come up, but I’ll tell ya, if I had to do it over again I’d just level up the early-game gear for awhile, as they’re usable pretty far into the game. There isn’t quite the power gap between bots and weapons - you can run with the lower level bots for a good long time with just better weapons and keeping them leveled up. Also, there’s a big focus on appearance and customization over selling advantages in battle. Every bot has primary and secondary paint palettes, as well as a collection of skins that can all be bought. They also give paint colors and occasionally skins in reward crates. So at least at the outset, they seem to be avoiding the whole concept of selling power. The devs also have a FB and Discord presence, they’re aware of current issues in the game, and at least seem to be listening and concerned about fixing things in future updates. Of course time will tell if they’re sincere about the players experience vs a quick money grab; but based on how the game is set up so far, I’m optimistic that it’s not going to turn into another P2W situation.

Yes this is my general, optimistic, feeling about it.

Just curious...thanks for the feedback! Meh. They do some damage, they are certainly better than shotguns, and I prefer them over Thermal Lances.
But once I unlock Pulse Cannons or Missile Racks, I'll run Autocannons or Plasma Cannons only if a daily tasks requires it. RPG, Javelin, Longarm are all so much better.

Sorry I haven’t replied in a couple days. Been on vacation with the family Auto cannons are really just a very early game weapon you will want to replace quickly. Others have already mentioned good comments, but another thing to think about in general is that you always want to do the most damage possible with the least exposure. Since no mech is really all that fast, most targets are easier to hit than other games so weapons that are long range, allow you to stay behind cover or do burst damage are preferred. The auto cannon offers none of this and is generally a sustain damage weapon; one of the worst styles of damage for this game imo. Keeping those things in mind will help you assess most weapons in this game quickly.

They’re great when you have an auto cannon challenge! The only thing great when you have an auto cannon challenge is an exasperated sigh and the refresh button.
