I would like a thread where I could document my project, I hope you guys won't mind me using War Robots forum platform to do it, I really don't have the will to build a Web site for it, even though I know how to make nice Web sites. The idea I love cooking! Last year I have rebuild my indoor kitchen from scratch, did most of work like taking down walls, building new walls, replacing the floors, installations on my own. Kitchen elements were pre-made and a crew of pros installed it in one day. On the other hand I spent 3 full weeks working from dusk till dawn to complete all the work. I had a guy who contected PVC water pipes for me, because the tools needed were to expensive to get for 5 or 6 welds needed. This is what it looked like This is the end result It's a beautiful highly functional kitchen and I love it more than anything ! Those 3 hard working weeks were a year and a half ago and it completely broke my body and my mind in a way I said to myself that I won't be doing projects like that ever again ! And then earth did 1 and a half circle around the sun, and I have decided to build myself a summer kitchen, something I always wanted. But this time I'm going to take it slow, work over weekends and stuff, there's no deadline and no impact on living quality of my family. Day 1 Idea is to build 17.5 square meters foundation and a wooden beam supported roof, with a pizza oven, Brick built roastery, workstation with a sink in my jard. This is my yard, where my summer kitchen will be And this is my plan So the first logical step is to make some free space, and that decorative rocks with flowers is definitely in a way, it had to be moved... I picked a nice place in my yard to move it to, hammerd a stick into the ground, connected 60cm of rope and another small stick on the far end so I could draw a near perfect circle with crushed chock on the ground, to dig a shallow trench where those big ?bum-bum? stones will be placed Digged a full circle Moving stones some 20 meters to their new home was some hard work, some of them were 60, 70 kg heavy and I need to use my old weight lifting skills ! Even though I didn't do any weight lifting for 5 years at least, it's a good thing to know that learned lifting techniques don't get old, and that's probably what saved my spine yesterday. And thank God I started to seriously put on a weight when covid lockdown started so I had to change my habits and workout at home lol. Where was I... Oh, right, stones were moved, and a couple of crushed fingers, berserker ant bites, and hours later, with an hour of my wife's gardening skills, we got this Not bad for a few hours of afterwork work, don't you think ! So now I'm sitting in my garden, having my morning coffee and looking at my beautiful rocks and flowers, getting ready for my first foundation showel in! New day is upon me!

Nice work dude. I renovated my kitchen years ago and it was great to get it done. More so seeing as I'm the one that does most of the cooking.
If i could find the photos I'll post them.

Day 2 Continued clearing out future construction site. By lunch time I managed to dig out 2 of this decorative pine trees with their roots, which weren't too deep in luckily. When I finished my lunch and went outside to continue the work, this happened No shade anywhere around thanks to me taking down the trees, like I sawed off a branch I was sitting on lol, good job me... Wind was hot as 「fluffernutter」 also, so I decided to wait for the evening. Lended a chainsaw from my wife's dad and cut those pines into smaller pieces so they could fit into my car. Loaded it up and cleaned up my jard a bit, moved the extra dirt to places of my jard where I had dents to level them. Took 2 trips to a local recycling centre. They allow you to come only once per day, but I really wanted to get it done in one day, so I bribed them with 2 ice cold beers and a liter of apple juice. My car was a mess so it needed cleaning. When I came home, night was upon me, and I thought, what the hell, let's fire up my ol grill Grilled some lovely marinated pork belly chops, veggies and buns. Mmmmm.... So my site is finally clear, ready for foundations, looks like it's gonna rain today, but I think my progress is a OK. Until the next time, cheers!

Day 3 Right after work, stopped by construction stuffs store and got myself 5x5m planks. Guess I broke few laws while driving them home. But I don't really care much about mortal laws when I have to care about the big picture, building my summer kitchen. I'm totally having fun btw So I cut those planks and formed a 5x3.5m square just to find the best place for future foundations. I liked the place so I decided to reward myself for all that hard work and loft my legs for a while After i relaxed a bit, I hammered some sticks in corners of the square, removed the planks and connected all the sticks with a rope. Rope markes the dig site. Foundation dig will be 20cm deep, 50 cm deep where water, drainage and sewage pipes will be laid. As you can see, it's getting dark, and it's time to withdraw from physical labour, maybe do something creative, why not a crunchy-creamy finger food supper fom my lovely wife and myself Aaaaah, life is life

Dear Diary, It's been a week since my last check in... Had a blast! Well, not literally, but the end result kind of looks like an aftermath of a bomb test site lol Yeah, that's right, foundation dig is done! Worked mostly after my long and boring days in the office, so I was really looking forward to do some sweating after it. Digged out 4.8 cubic metres of dirt (ã??dookieã? load in imperial). I went a bit deeper than originally planned 20cm, it's around 25cm deep. Taking care of all that dirt was a real challenge and the most time consuming component of digging. Spent around 75 % of total dig time to manage all that dirt. Used around 1.5 m3 to level my yard where needed, took 6 trips to local dirt dump site with my car and trailer, and I saved around 0.5 of m3, just in case, I'll probably need it after the foundations are done to fill the gaps between the concrete and land. My trailer Aha that's right, old school Mercedes rims! My late grandfather built that trailer by hand from scratch. Old dude really knew his ?dookie?... I'm trying to keep everything nice and tidy, and I think I'm doing good =) Next up, laying water, sewage and rain drainage pipes, so it'll probably be some time before I check in again. Still having fun and I'm getting totally fit, like wolverine from xman fit! Taking a weekend off, gonna go soak my balls to the coast. Blaz checking out!

Guys, look what I digged out! It's my grandfather's handmade drainage shaft lid! And what's totally weird about it is he built it at age of 37. Stay with me, the weird part is I'm doing my business using his shaft at age of 37 Iniana Jones go ?fluffernutter? yourself hahaha Those dark spots is my sweat, if you take the time out of the equation, it's almost like we built something together... Yeah kinda nostalgic... Sorry

Surely everyone wondered what was going on in my yard for this last couple of days, so, let's get going Layed 7 meters of 110mm pp lines as a sewage main, for rain drainage and soon to be manhole and sink, connected directly to my grandfather's manhole. From right, rain drainage pipe which will be connected to the roof, temporarily 75mm pipe which will be connected to the manhole with grill cover. Leftmost is 75 mm pipe through which I layed so, called flexible okiten 1/2" water pipe, just in case if the water pipe blows, it can easily be replaced without digging through foundations. Layed 16 meters of okiten and 11 meters of of 75 mm pp pipe Grandads manhole, connected to sewage Connection to manhole where water is Gonna bring two valves in, one for the house, and one for my summer kitchen. Third pipe is temporarily there, connected to my yard pipe, gonna flow until my kitchen is done, then it's gonna get disconnected so kitchen water can be connected to its valve. Guys, it's the craziest thing I ever did, having the time of my life Next up, building a grilled manhole, got all the stuff needed today

Concrete coming on Saturday, everything ready Hard to tell, but I spend around 500€ up to this point, including 2.3 m3 concrete that needs to be payed up front, and 6 anchors for wooden beams that go into fresh concrete I'm gonna have to slow down a bit after I make the slab, feel like I'm going bankrupt lol

No. No! I didn't give up... It's just been a busy year, my free time is almost non existent. But after pouring the concrete slab, and hydro insulation last year, i have finally resumed my work. Started building blocks, so now you can probably see where I'm going with the ideas in my head
Anyways, wife took the kids away for a day, and it was a busy morning. It was getting pretty hot outside and i decided to make myself a treat. Some lovely grilled pork neck and veggies It's great to be without my beautiful wife and my lovely kids, even for a short while. Isn't that pork chop usa shaped?

Block building part is done. Pfiew, that was some heavyweight 「dookie」 to do... I'm pretty happy with the end result, it's actually very accurately done, first timer in building. Next up, concrete slab on top of those blocks. Curious to see what dangers lurk in the shadows

Just checking in... Project is still running, fog speed, but running. Tomorrow is a big day, making concrete slab on top of those bricks. Spent last month doing the prep for it, whenever i found some free time, which is really hard to come by... Hope everything will work out good tomorrow, some friends coming over to help out. This year, i kid you not, all materials got 100% more expensive...

Yeah it is... It became more of a hobby than a project it doesn't bother me too much, I'd love to have more time for it, but it is what it is. I'm learning a lot and every milestone is a great victory for me. Slab is done
Roe deer goulash is in the making, it's gonna be freaking amazing!

Looks awesome!! The courter tops scream tile me, but that's just me. Keep on keeping on and you get it done. It will be tiled, I'm thinking those big black tiles for tops, dark brown wood for vertical beams and roof and probably Black tiles for the floor... Don't know yet. First i have have to brick up the pizza oven and fireplace for spit roasting. The concrete slab has matured nicely, I'm pretty happy with the result

Damn, it's been a year since last update... Just had a lot of stuff going on. Finally completed my bachelor's degree in IT and came back from my vacation, so hopefully I'll have more time to invest in my project. Decided to start the Pompeii oven first, and in last two days I've built myself an indispensable tool that is usually used for building this kind of ovens, what it actually does is help you get a perfect half sphere wherever you point it, and Pompeii oven is virtually a half sphere Next, started on making heat insulation for the oven floor. Decided to use aerated concrete block 5cm thick. Figured as Pompeii ovens usually work at high temperatures somewhere in 350-500 C range ill need some sort of a buffer to stop the heat going from firebrick oven floor down to regular concrete floor built to hold the oven and potentially compromise concrete stability or integrity. Even though aerated concrete isn't something that's traditionally or widely used for this purpose, it's cheap, easy to work with, like with hand tools and it is fireproof and doesn't heat up. So, fingers crossed... I'll glue those blocks hopefully today when outside temperature drops a bit... Good to be back at work:) Edit: made it! Cheers!
