Ok, you knew it was coming!
Just had a couple of bad back to back games. The irony is that we won those games. But, it's not often I get my mechs single shot killed back to back, so that can by annoying. You know what really is annoying? Guardians with Rocket Mortars. Seriously, the artillery in this game is out of this world. The only thing that really balances them is their very long reload cycle. Seriously, these Zenit type of weapons fire like Noricoms but hit like the proverbial ton of bricks. So far, the only true defense I've found is praying that another blue gets toasted! In one game, I went hunting for the RM Guardian and almost got him too, but bot 3rd partied by another red. Ugh...

I haven't had the pleasure of being rocketed yet. But I have eaten a few long arms, and they don't feel very good, either. So I pasted one on my Ares, and now I'm feeding a few reds with the same.

Rocket mortars and AI with the longarms are the worst in this game. Rocket Mortars have a few tactics as KSOs video shows; barriers, panther shield etc. I also find that if you can see the mortars take the to air, you have a window of movement as well. It depends on how fast your mech is, but usually moving helps. The AI stays in one spot when it shoots most times so that means the mortars wont travel beyond one area. If the AI moved more, the mortar would spread out (kinda like how KSO shows to zig-zag in the video). If its a player though, I usually have to hunt them down with either long range or a shadow. Not always easy...
Longarms though.....they just catch you off guard and it can suck. I don't really know a great defense against them directly. I have ways I deal with them, but they catch me a lot too. Especially the Zephyr+longarm 10 & 8 that the AI likes to use.

Aaarrrrgggghhhhh .... need ... Dramamine .... And yeah, I just got caught up in a string of profanity-inducing matchups, too. Tournament games where every teammate was significantly lower ranked than me, and most opponents were higher. Several quick games where we just could not hold influence. One tournament game where I was the highest ranked blue, the top red was almost double my rank (I’m 707, he was 1300-something), and every other red was in the 800’s. Next highest blue was in the 500’s, and it went down from there. And the result was exactly what you’d expect. I just tried to learn from it, figure out what my worst mistakes were to avoid in the future. But mostly it was just very aggressive players with good gear and knew how to use it. Lots of panthers throwing up barriers at exactly the wrong time (for me), a few javelin 6’s, and the occasional artillery showers falling on my head. Oh, and people playing Killshots way the hell better than I can. I haven’t quite gotten the melee aiming thing down too good yet. In fact more often than not I zip right past my target, ripe for them to shoot me in the arse as I’m trying to figure where I am and how I got there. And to make matters worse, I blew almost all my credits and a-coins upgrading a couple of RPG’s that I had accumulated a crapload of upgrades for, so even if I do get upgrades for my better bots and weps, I ain’t got the scratch to upgrade ‘em. Hoping for another cheap currency-rich offer to come soon, or I’m gonna be stagnating in misery for awhile. Another nice $3 bot wouldn’t be unappreciated too, neither. Edit: Oh, duhhhhhh ... I had a mile-long list of challenges I had completed (I wondered where all those went, and I just stumbled on the right button), and got back a pile of credits and a few coins. Now let’s get some more o’ them upgrade coupon thingies.

The eternally frustrating thing is that all opponents seem to have better mechs. Since this game seems to care most about your overall power ranking, you can unlock mechs or weapons or invest in a single item and it can put you in a bracket of tough enemies for a bit. It happens unfortunately. I've had areas where I hit a bit of a wall like that. In those cases, I focus on dailies to get resources back and let myself drop a level in tourney and see if that helps. What bracket are you in for tourney? You will find especially with tournament that as you go up in the brackets (or even as you climb for the day) that it will throw harder enemies at you. I find that it starts out as cake, then gets to a point beyond my level. Novice is easy for most, but if you are just starting out you may even feel like professional is a bit much. Eventually it wont feel hard, but then expert will and so on. Tourney is designed that way I suppose to give you goals to shoot for to get bigger wins. I would guess that if you are at 700ish power, Novice is easy and Professional starts out easy, then gets a bit tougher as the day goes on? Either that or you're in the middle of expert and you're getting you arse handed to you. It happens. Happens to me too, but usually as I get to master/grand master now. In those cases, I let myself drop a bracket and crush in the other one. No sense in frustrating yourself. The only concern to that is that Novice doesnt give you a-coins (used to; but not since they introduced skin crates) so you probably don't want to drop beyond professional.

Its possible that your side might have more bots than the other side. Tournament for the last couple of days for me has been a breeze...I feel bad cause I was the only one with a hangar strength greater than 1k. But, I needed to earn the gold medals for my daily challenges so, oh well.

Because you’re just that goooooooood. I ran into quite a few of these games yesterday, too. A few games I outclassed the rest of my team combined and still lost. The positive I took away was that at least I wasn’t the reason we lost. Still, it can be a tough pill to swallow doing all that work and coming away with next to nothing for rewards. But I’m still pretty early in the game, so there’s a lot of learning and skill-sharpening to be done as far as the strengths and weaknesses of each bot and weapon, which bot/weapon combos work best, and most importantly, recognizing what the enemy is driving and knowing when/what to attack and what to avoid. I have some really good games where I look back and say hell yeah, I got this, and then I have some bad ones and realize I’ve still got a good bit to learn. One thing that’s becoming pretty clear though, is that skill goes a lot farther in this game than money.

I figured there’d be peaks and valleys; it’d get boring if I trounced everything every game!

Okay, getting one shot killed by Rocket Mortars are annoying. Love when I catch one of those players past the minimum range and just stand in front of him firing as his health goes down. Ya once I get a set I'll be one of those guys too

RM are annoying yes, hug walls/buildings and get in that min range is the only thing that helps for me.
My other little rants, taking so long to drop another bot in, though I get and kind of like not dropping straight on a beacon to save it if they beat you out at one. Still want to see other peoples hangers
Its a personal rant at myself but I'm so use to special abilities being used and going the direction of the joy stick.. so many times I try and make my killshot dash.. backwards... and forward we go into the have your safe word area.

I definitely get the new bot drop delay. If you can’t save a beacon before getting killed, then the other team deserves a better shot at taking it. Maybe the delay is a little long, basically giving you zero chance to save it if the attacking red is any kind of alert (not always a given), but I prefer this to all the time War Robots gives you to respawn on a changing beacon, which makes it near impossible to change more often than not. Agreed, I would love to see other hangar details, especially what weapons and levels the top scorers are running. Sometimes I just need to know why I got shredded to bits for that little bit of closure after a particularly bad game. And I’ve done the exact same thing with my Killshot when I first got it. Melee dash doesn’t work at all like War Robots dash. I’m still actually getting used to it, but now it’s more a matter of just hitting the red I’m targeting rather than zipping off in an entirely wrong direction.

I think the respawn delay is a nice balance between beacon rush and domination. Sure you dont get to save the beacon but you also don't need to start from spawn

Ok, so did Plarium secretly hire away Pix’s designers and developers? As soon as I got the challenge to spawn Ares and get 5 wins, I can’t win a quick game to save my life. Not to mention a mass migration of War Robots morons who don’t know what a beacon is.

The game only recently started adding regions, while places like India have had it for over 2 years. The AI in the MM are currently bugged, and if the discord is to be believed, should be adjusted in the next update. discord.gg/uxb3kbP.S. Ok, all you imbeciles coming over from War Robots who never knew what a beacon was, how to capture it, or how to hold it, just go back to War Robots right now and stay there.
Why does no one on my team ever have any clue about holding control points, but the reds are always all over them? Same ?fluffernutter?ing thing as BR games in that other crap pile game. Also just like in BR, thereâ??s zero concept of team play among randoms. People running solo out front of everybody with MD’s like they’re tanks. I finally had ONE game today with a guy in a MD who hung in cover but stayed as close as he could to as many teammates as he could and kept a couple of us alive for a decent stretch. One guy. Pretty sad. It’s not like it requires a lot of thought to coordinate your play with somebody else. Or to understand the fundamental objective of the ?fluffernutter?ing game.
this isn’t a rant about the game, it’s a rant about the morons who play it.

There's one thing I'd love to be added to the game: lock target! I love that I can select my target better than War Robots, and I can look UP! But, I'd love to be able to lock onto a target. This is for my Javelin builds where I'm popping in and out of cover to get a full spread of missiles to land.

This is for my Javelin builds where I'm popping in and out of cover to get a full spread of missiles to land. You can do this - at the bottom of your screen in battle there’s a target lock button, and I use it extensively with my javelin bots. It toggles on and off, unlike War Robots’s lock that cycles around from target to target (and always picking the one you want last). So if you’re locked on a target and want to change, you pop the button once to turn it off, find the target you want to lock on, then pop it again to lock on. But, if no teammates have line of sight on the target, if you lose track of it, you lose the lock as well.

Ok, you knew it was coming! Just had a couple of bad back to back games. The irony is that we won those games. Just played 4 tournament games. 4 losses, in all games I killed more reds than my 4 teammates combined.
The eternally frustrating thing is that all opponents seem to have better mechs. I hang on by the fingernails in a game, just to get killed by bots that have 2 stars more than my bots, and weapons that I haven't yet unlocked. How is it possible that I'm the best mech when everybody else is stronger?
I find time of day plays into it. Lunchtime is often a walkover, evenings can be tough matches.

I find time of day plays into it. Lunchtime is often a walkover, evenings can be tough matches. Bracked and points appear to factor in, too. I can start playing tournament and go against 500ish bots for the first 3 games, then games will get a lot tougher Once I'm past 2000 points, all opponents are way stronger than I am.
But yes. It's a bit sad that kills factor so heavily in tourney. In some games you can eat through 15 AIs, but if you'e got humans on the other end, you'll be good if you end up with 3-4 kills. I do like the latter games more, but they do little for my tourney scores.
