You spawn and see all 5 of your teammates heading for one beacon. Even worse, you see several reds heading for the undefended side of the map. Do you ...
a) Go to the other side in a vain attempt to balance things out? "I may die but I know my strategy is sound, dammit!!
b) Follow the herd of idiots. "I know they're wrong but I don't want to go off on my own and be the only target over there."
I tend to chose a. Maybe I should go with b?

Answer (A) 100% of the time!!!
1. It's a lot more fun, as your actually in the action
2. It's the winning strategy, especially if I can cap and defend the side beacon long enough
And 3. If you lose cause your teammates suck, it's over quicker!

The correct answer to what to do is A of course as you need your home beacons. But the outcome is C) it doesn’t matter because, well randoms...

I'll choose A as well, except I have no to die trying to protect that beacon. I'm only there to slow down the enemy by a few seconds and take since pot shots at them. As soon as it gets rough I'm taking back to a better position.
Hopefully by stalling the enemy for a few seconds my teammates have flanked them or something (unlikely, but has happened in the past).

Or just try to get the attention of several Reds so my teammates can capture undefended beacons.

A
and I JUST experienced almost this scenario.
CASTLE......I start dashing to my beloved bridge beac and gander over at my teammates to see .....ALL OF THEM heading up the hill to the high beac......5 .....FIVE random guys starting on Castle going up high and leaving me hanging. I stop and wait because the bridge is a no go now....I skulk down the hill, see my opening....and dash across the suicide zone and up the gut to nail their home beac...tadaaahhh!
All hail Strider

All hail Strider Castle is the worst for this. Players go high to camp with lasers and missiles OR in the mistaken belief that they can cap and hold the enemy high beacon. While they're doing that the reds take the bridge beacon unopposed and then swarm up to get our spawn beacon. I like to see 4 friendlies go for that bridge while two guys can cap and guard the high beacon. All too often it's me and one other player getting slaughtered trying to take the bridge.

Before that countdown ends I know where I am going.
It doesn't matter where they go.
Shoot, sometimes my bot is quick enough and my team is slow enough I'll cap side beacons on opposite ends.

I used to be like that but lately (especially on Power plant) the game spawns me WAY to the right. It would take me forever to get to center so there's no point in going for it. My strategy depends on where I drop in. This is more difficult when the game doesn't let me start on time. I spawn in and see my team has got the two close beacons and the reds are already swarming to center.

It's like you asking your question in the first post. It's situational. I've played Castle where 4-5 continually bang their heads against 3-4 players at the bridge. Where if I had gotten some help on the high beacons. We may have been able to take, and draw away defense of the bridge beacon. And I have switched to attacking the bridge. Only to have players sit back instead of taking a better defensive position to hold the bridge. And just the way I feel; No, when reds throw up their Titans early. Don't wait until they've held 4 beacon for a while to throw in your Titan.

I live for capping center beac first, esp Castle. The only time I pull up is when I know itâs a suicide mission. Then I will wait for a window and attempt a side door surprise/steal/suicide. In the first seconds I try to give my closest teammates a tap to help let them know that this Strider is spazzing hard for middle, so it would be GREAT for some support fellas!, ya know....since Iâm the guy hanging my 「bum-bum」 out. ?

You spawn and see all 5 of your teammates heading for one beacon. Even worse, you see several reds heading for the undefended side of the map. Do you ... a) Go to the other side in a vain attempt to balance things out? "I may die but I know my strategy is sound, dammit!! b) Follow the herd of idiots. "I know they're wrong but I don't want to go off on my own and be the only target over there." I tend to chose a. Maybe I should go with b? Go for A. If you're destined to lose you may as well get honor for most beacons. Just because you cap A it doesn't mean it's the hill you have to die on. Most of the time if I know we're gonna lose the game I just try and maximize honor. Suicide your bot (they got rid of repair costs) to spawn a healer or Titan before you lose at 5mins, etc.

I cant help myself. I do B. Id rather go rogue and at least put up a fight then follow the herd and watch the team get 4 capped. At least getting the other side I can drag the game out longer and come in top for damage then follow the group and get just the leftovers.

I was expecting all you guys to tell me that I was an idiot for going solo.
Apparently I'm not the only member of the "I know I'm right dammit!" Club.

Depends which map, some both home beacons are easy grabs, but if im going one on three, im probably not charging in, and will hold the line instead, or go for one of the red beacons if its open

A for sure. Strider is always first drop so I have a chance in almost every map to get to center first and maybe turn it, then respawn - especially castle/bridge. The ideal scenario is to hold bridge alone as long as possible (Nightingale is ideal for this as second drop). Then respawn at home with something that can defend and just try to slow the horde down. If I’m lucky then the herd can rampage to their high beacon and maybe a few respawn to Help defend our home from bridge and we got 3 on em. If I’m unlucky I get swarmed at home and lose it, then I look for where I can steal a far beacon. Or I mech out fast, thanks for playing, next.

B. Anything else will lead to frustrationing 3+ vs 1 battles. Just follow the pack and rack up your damage and caps. Maybe heal some of the idiots if you are able. Collect your rewards and cups then move on.

I say b...giving up a beacon early on isnt all that bad...plenty of time to go steal one of theirs at some point...my bots are too valuable to just take to the slaughter.
