I used to like playing a game called Planet Commander, at least until they went the P2W route AND started ripping off pop culture ships like the Star Destroyer, Millenium Falcon and Serenity. They also messed with the game mechanics so I gave up on it. I played the Star Forces equivalent and that wasn't too bad, it was more "fighter" oriented while using the exact same ships. But, the game play got old after a while.
So, this ad came up today for Iron Space. I was intrigued cause the game play looked like the old Planet Commander, but with unique ship designs and less cartoonish graphics. I've played several games and even though I only have the first two free ships available, I kinda like it. I wouldn't go so far as to call it War Robots in space because it feels like you're actually controlling a gigantic battleship. There's a fair bit of skill involved even if the ships maneuver like space whales. There's no aim assist for the guns (which is odd considering the level of technology needed to make space battleships) but that's where the skill comes into play. Plus, it's easy to get so focused on aiming and hitting your target that you forget your ship is still moving in whatever direction your left stick is moving in and next thing you know, you've hit something and become a sitting duck. The guns fire automatically, but you still have to lead your target depending on your relative positions and movement. The missiles have to lock on but once they do, they hit automatically for lots of damage. But, to lock on, you have to hold the target steady for about 3s - no auto lock on!

There's the link for the game. Go check it out if you need a break from War Robots and real life!
