Hi fellow members. I’d like your advice on whether or not I should outfit my 2.12 Blitz (+ 4x Mk2.8 Blaze) with the new Clive Vicious legendary pilot. 1) Currently, my Blitz is piloted by a fully maxed Adrian. So, I get a 5% damage boost. If I switch to Clive, I can get the skill that will give me 2.5% damage boost. So, a net loss of 2.5% boost. 2) It’s also outfitted with 2x maxed out fortifier modules, which give me an additional 50% on the Aegis shield for 9 seconds. Or is it 5 seconds. I’m not sure. I’m thinking that the Aegis is so strong, that it’s similar in effect to the 90% damage resistance from Clive. And the Aegis might have a slight edge up over damage resistance, in regards to protection from Titans. 3) On the other hand, I can replace the 2x fortifiers with 2x Thermo Nuclear Reactors, for a 20% damage boost. Resulting in a 17.5% damage boost gain overall. I could also substitute in Heavy Armor Modules for more durability. 4) If I choose to use Clive, the gold investment is steep. Well over 10k to max him 5) I’m really fond of the Blitz, and have been using one for a while. In summary, for my Blitz, would you recommend Clive over Adrian? Thx   |

I think people would only choose Clive over a highly leveled Blitz for variety sakes. Your Blitz looks pretty entrenched, and switching the pilot will mean more than just swapping Aegis for DR. Your Blitz will play differently (for better or worse) and will feel like a whole new bot. If that's what you want, then go for it. But, if you love your Blitz the way it is, then I wouldn't bother.
My Blitz is nowhere near as tricked out as yours, and I'm not considering buying the Ops pass. For one, I'm tapped out this month for spending money on games, and secondly, I would only get that Legendary Pilot if I had the chance to run it on a second Blitz just so that I could compare play experiences.

Personally, my plan is to get the new SE Blitz, put Clive on it, and upgrade it to go along with the one I already run. I will put one in my Alt hangar so that I don't have to keep moving it every time I decide to change things up (that bot goes with me whenever I change hangars... love this thing)
I don't know if I would change it out on my current Blitz... very tough to say. The way the OP has theirs configured sounds pretty tough.

Thx Having a few maxed modules myself, it is no small investment. Well done. Today, you have one of the most kick-butt Blitzes you can have. Keep it as is and invest the gold and AG someplace else (like in a Ravana or Nightingale). Right now you have chosen survivability over damage, that's why you went with the fortifiers. With Clive IF you have maxed HAKs ( for survivability) already you could experiment but you'd still have to spend a good amount of Au on the pilot. If you don't have the HAKs it's gonna get expensive in Ag. |

Maybe I’m missing something here, but Fortifiers should ONLY be used on Bulwark or Ancilot.
Edit: just my opinion, of course, if you like it that way, by all means play it that way. A regular setup with the new pilot should do much better, but ultimately it comes down to playing what you enjoy.

The Aegis shield at mk2.12 can take 78,200 damage. With the aforementioned items, the amount of damage the Aegis can absorb increases 60% to a total of 125,120. This is an absorption boost of 46,900 each ability cycle.
Now, if I substitute in 2 maxed Heavy Armor modules, the robot’s durability goes from 201,000 to 249,240. An increase of 48,200. This durability however, is not sustained throughout the bot’s life. As you know, the maximum threshold decrease over time.
Is one configuration better than the other? Maybe. But when I engage the ability and attack, I like the fact that I usually take very little damage. And sometimes, in a pinch, I use the Aegis shield for protection against an attack. Occasionally, I activate it to save a squad mate from damage.

Leaving my current maxed Blitz as is. I only use one maxed Fortifier and it’s a beast. Not gonna let the gold and time I spent on the pilot go to waste.
The Legendary Pilot is very worthwhile though, so I’m gonna level the Mad Max Blitz with Clive to run a second Blitz

I don't know you, but I have read many of your posts here and had the feeling you wouldn't do something like that without a good reason... I feel vindicated. Those numbers are good and I definitely wouldn't switch out for the Legendary Pilot on that Blitz at this time. I don't know that one configuration would be better than the other right now... but even if the Legendary Pilot, comparatively leveled, made the Blitz better than the pilot you have, I don't think it would be by enough to make it worth it. |

Thx If you have a bulwark anywhere then park those fortifiers on him and switch to clive, adrian works for any bot but you need to switch the skills so that isn't much of a loss. If you like your blitz as is then leave it and maybe even use another with the new guy. |

So, reviving this. I ran a little test and came up with a damage reduction of 85% when Clive was active. No modules, no boosters, just 5 Taran bursts against a l10 Blitz with Clive. Ability active, I did 15k damage. Inactive, 97k. In other words, 500k damage are reduced to ~80k.
As I never ran a Blitz before, I don't really know how often the Aegis shield is taken down. But 65k plus Bonus doesn't sound too impressive in Champ, where a single maxed Scourge does 13k DPS at 200m. Obviously a lot depends on play style, but Clive sounds pretty good to me, and those fortifiers could be used on another bot. Am I missing something?

A thank you to y’all from a fellow Blitz enthusiast. In my experience the ways you set up the Blitz can be divided roughly into two categories. Option 1 is a brutal one shot killer for close encounters. This option requires maxed shotguns or rimes. Or, for Option 2 the blitz can be run as a more versatile fighter dealing damage mostly from some distance (~200m and more). The second option would be outfitted with shredders, blitzes, etc. and it benefits from a higher chance of retreating when the aegis is exhausted. For option 2, I tend to agree with the OP: increasing the absorption of the aegis is the way to go as it hugely increases the bots lifespan. IMO Clive Vicious is wasted in this scenario because taking 0% damage is better than taking 10%. For option 1, however Clive Vicious makes sense as you can get up close without worrying about the red walking into your yellow bubble. The OP’s case is tricky as blazes could really be used for either option/playstyle. So I think the answer to the original question depends on how the OP likes to take on his targets. Up close and in their business (go Clive!), or from a bit of distance (go Aegis!). Hope this helps somewhat. Have fun and keep on blitzing ? |
