People complain how it's unfair that they don't get ranked based on beacon contribution- if u do most damage, u lose least league points overall, whether u get beacons or not (this post is not about how damage actually is more important than beacons but anyway...)
But think of it this way: if u could eat your ranking points cake just by running around in stalkers and gareths capping beacons, then people would start complaining 'hey this isn't fair, I contributed way more firepower to this effort but all my stupid teammates did was run around and die, capping beacons that always just went right back to red team.'
You see there CAN'T just be a perfect way to rank performance, there r so many intangibles. So then what should pix make the priority ranking measure, damage or beacons? Obviously damage, because a high damage hangar costs more than a beacon runner hangar by a large factor(the game is a business. Until u accept that u will always b... Simple). Then at the same time, they encourage beacon capping by offering little crumbs of gold, so that players will try to eventually buy both heavy bots w lots of expensive weaponry to b competitive in league, but at first they r motivated to buy light bots for getting that gold in the early game (by the time u make all the gold needed for any bots and weapons u might want, it's silver that u end up needing in the long run to keep upgrading).
The ranking system isn't designed to finger your ego; it's designed to motivate sales (bc they make it possible to win more league points just by buying bigger heavier higher damage bots and weapons. That's what 'pay2win' means).
Remember that the 'fair' ranking system u want where win% is truly a reflection of skill is in fact built into the game- but it only begins once u max lvl your gear. It's supposed to b like that u so spend $ to upgrade.
But u don't have to spend $ if u just play a lot.
If u disagree then I will laugh at u and pick u last in gym class
