There's a rant for you. Eff this frickin' virus. Kiss my aff!
Hopefully we can all be nice to each other for a change.
I'm sick of this, I just paid $140 USD for a roll of toilet paper, and it was single ply!
(j/k it was $95 USD.)

YIKES! That's a serious mark up!
So far, zero reported cases of the Chinese Coronavirus in my county, and hoping it stays that way. Wife freaking out a little, but I'm keeping her off the ledge. It's gonna be a pain for a bit, folks, but if we keep our heads and be kind to one another, we'll get through it and things can hopefully return to normal soon.
Definitely feeling for those in the hospitality/restaurant type businesses. If you DO go to dinner somewhere, throw a few extra bucks on the tip, and help those people out, please!

Ba-zing! yeah, I was kidding. But our count at home is 18 rolls and dropping. Every time my wife goes to the loo I scream at her, "WE'RE RATIONING!! NO F'ING MORE THAN FOUR SQUARES!!!!!"
By now she's so sick of me she's hoping to get the virus.

My province just declared an emergency. Most non essential stuff is closed. Supermarkets are still open than goodness. It's like living Contagion in real life. If it were a zombie apocalypse though, I don't thing people would be fighting over toilet paper!

^^^^Yeah, if it was the Zombie Apocalypse they'd be fighting over ammo and beer.
Prediction: Corona beer changes its name.

I got the word yesterday to work from home. Barely half a day and I’m already going stir-crazy. The wife is still working (registered nurse), so she hasn’t had to deal with me yet. Restaurants are all closed for dining in, local market has no salad bar or hot buffet. I expect there could be a jail sentence or two before all is said and done.
Yeah, this sucks.

Interesting site...cites ~6400 deaths as of Sunday; today the number is ~7900 Compared to total cases identified, that’s about 4%

Interesting site...cites ~6400 deaths as of Sunday; today the number is ~7900 Compared to total cases identified, that’s about 4% And most cases were never tested....... it is almost symptom free to many especially to most of the younger healthy people. I bet the true number of cases is off the chart. Meanwhile counted in the USA this flu season over 20K dead already and not a blink of the eye....... Something smells rotten.

My thought is the tests were slow at first to avoid outright panic......and, panic is bad, but quite possible

In my state, where we had the first positive up in Everett, our governor won’t lock the state down.....the largest $$$$$$ employer, Boeing, has, as of 5 hours ago, 18 confirmed covid 19 cases, most in Everett and some south, in Renton. They also have placed just over 1,000 employees on 14 day quarantine.
However, they keep their plants open, despite another greedy person, who is out POTUS, assuring Boeing of a $$$$$ bailout....which also clears them of their 737Max disaster.
So, Boeing won’t shut down, the folks still working their are pleading them to, even signing petitions and reaching out to the media for help, and the governor won’t shut down. And yes, Boeing had a thing or two with the election of our governor.
So, as much as COVID 19 sux, these greedy moron politicians sux wayyyyyy more!
IMO, YMMV

It seems at this point given how contagious this virus is and how long it can remain alive on surfaces pretty much everything should be non-returnable.

Although your point is interesting, I looked up this very thing and CDC claims there is zero evidence of contraction of virus from containers/plastic bags, etc.....making me wonder why how long COVID 19 is alive on surfaces became a thing. CDC website is pretty easy to navigate, in case you wish to check......

That flu death stat is not a real stat. The CDC made up a term “flu related deaths” and if someone has flu-like symptoms at some point in the months before they died, whether it was actually related to the flu or not, they count it as this. So every year the CDC says 30-50,0000 deaths, but the real number of people actually dying directly from flu is closer to like 500-1000.

That seems really low or you have very good influenza control/immuisation programs in your country. In Australia the current official figures are for 2017 from the Australian Bureau of Statistics which indicate that "in 2017 there were 1,255 deaths due to influenza, recording a standardised death rate of 3.9 per 100,000 persons". This is in a country of 25 million people. It goes further to state that: Laboratory confirmed Influenza is a notifiable disease in Australia. The NISS coordinates information during "flu season" from a number of sources, with a focus on understanding and reporting severity of disease, virology and incidence. In 2017, approximately two thirds of deaths due to influenza (806 deaths) were certified with an identified seasonal virus. The remaining deaths (449) did not have a viral strain identified on the death certificate." EDIT: 2017 is the last time I can identify that Influenza was dealt with separately. It is now combined with Pneumonia in the stats so the figure is now much higher (almost 3x). EDIT 2: I can sell the OP a square of 3 ply TP for $1 - bargain

This afternoon, the Mayor of Everett placed the city on lockdown starting Monday morning.
Boeing May get their wish, however the governor states Boeing is essential to the economy of the Seattle area.....so, maybe they will keep being forced to work-and today, the positive COVID count for them went up to 20. I also found a site where I read Boeing has just over 1,000 workers on the 14 day quarantine....blew my mind!
My employer is talking with their lawyers to see wether we keep working or not....I’m pretty sure the plant I work in will be shut down.
Stay strong, all!
