Ao Ming might currently be my favourite bot in War Robots.
Flying Tank that also lets me see the state of the battlefield from above, and chase down bots / fire at them from the sky, over cover.
I'm running a one hanger only setup with no fluff atm. Streamlining with a view towards an elite championship setup. Swapping out existing bots/weapons/modules in a 5 bot hanger for cost reasons.
Mostly upgrading machineguns (the Alphas especially) and Titan health for now.
Platinum causes such a huge boost in it's overall health, and the Wiki shows machineguns currently doing 5 to 10 times more damage than the other weapons at the moment.

I am still saving my Pt, 700Pt now. But i am not buying Ao Ming, level 1 Ao Ming with level 1 weapons probably won't be any better than level 2 kids with level 1 weapons. Who know when there are 50% off all Titans and weapons?

I mean 50% off the Pt you need for bots and weapons.

Me neither, nothing since first Ops Pass, still plenty of fun to be had F2P. And I think the initial purchase price is not too bad, less than a month of grinding and you can buy an Ao Ming. But the upgrade costs, I totally agree with you...way too high and out of balance vs. the rest of the already craptastic economy. But Pix is testing the upper limits of true whale spending. The lost my $2/mo average, but probably came out ahead with those multi-thousand dollar bots flying around.

Pix could get 10x my historical spending on a regular basis if they introduced bots and weapons that required skill instead of money.

If people are wanting to spend Platinum instead of save it, unless they change Titans/weapons again, or finally bring out new Titans, here's my current recommendation to myself (in consideration to my own game): My own Titan recommendation & advice to myself:- Get an Ao Ming first. (Consider Arthur for later, as a third Titan.)
- Use standard machine guns (use Kid's guns instead if they are levelled), and use it as a skilled brawler. Though inaccurate, they do a LOT of damage, especially at close range. (Consider Plasma for later.)
- Level your Ao Ming's hull a few times, I chose to level my hull to Level 14 myself. You initially get a lot armor and damage reduction for very little Platinum. This will enable to fire your 2-4x machine guns for a lot longer, and will let you play a lot harder without dying.
- Now level up one Alpha Vengeance machine gun to Level 25. This will give it 100% defence mitigation.
- Now, if you like the Ao Ming so far and want to invest in it's second Alpha weapon (it's the only Titan that uses two Alpha weapons at the moment), level the second Vengeance up to Level 25 for that 100% defence mitigation too.
At that point, the Retaliators and various Titan upgrades can be looked at. As an Ao Ming is already rather fast with it's flight mode, more armour is a good bet. If you upgrade the weapons, you can swap them between Ao Ming and Kid (and perhaps later, Arthur) at will, as you please, using them on whichever Titan is more fun for you at the time: Kid, Arthur or Ao Ming. Mini-Titan recommendation to myself:- Get an Ao Ming
- Only level it's Hull (to around Level 14)
- Then, unless going Plasma, only level one single Vengeance weapon to max Level 25
(The main reason for focus upgrading one single Alpha weapon first is the 100% defence mitigation. The fact that Kid and Arthur only use 1 Alpha weapon is a secondary bonus.)

Got to 700 Pt finally. And I pulled the trigger, I got the Ao Ming. And... yeah. The sheer power of 4 Titan weapons bearing down on the ants below. Considering 700 Pt (plus let's say 200 Pt more for essential upgrades) is 36...60 days (depending on how often you get 15 Pt and how often 25 Pt per day) so not too bad. So my judgement based on just 1 battle (where I was put on the winning team so easy battle), Ao Ming is great fun. There's also at least a bit of skill involved in timing the flight and landing behind cover to reload, I could see how I could have taken much less damage with a bit smarter play.
