You must link your accounts to Game Center. If you don’t then what happened to you is what happens. I have 6 accounts and switch freely between them each day and never had any problems.
A new Game Center account is equivalent to a new Apple ID which requires a new email. I’ve had quite a bit of trouble in this step before, Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft would give me grief in making an extra email, and then sometimes Apples Apple ID creation page would give me grief too. Apple actually restricts you to creating only 3 Apple IDs per device and it wasn’t telling me that’s why my new ID creation was failing, but I learned of the limit and used an old iPhone 4s to create the ID.
Anyways, once you’ve created an Apple ID it’s simple and hassle free. To switch between two linked accounts: quit War Robots if it’s open, go to Game Center and change to the other account, launch War Robots, War Robots will show the load account dialog, hit load and the other accounts hangar is loaded up.
You have the problem of having an unlinked account though and it’s been overwritten. Only, magically, it’s probably not entirely lost though. On the device where you played the unlinked account if you delete War Robots then reinstall there’s a chance the new install will open with your old unlinked hangar. This actually caused me quite a bit of consternation when I was trying to begin a 100% brand new War Robots account but after reinstalling it kept coming up with an unlinked dummy hangar I was trying to get rid of. Eventually I had to link that account to an Apple ID then create yet another ID and reinstall to get the 100% fresh hangar.
If reinstalling doesn’t bring your old hangar back you will need to contact Pix with your player name and the War Robots account ID and any details about the War Robots account you can remember. I’m not sure of the process here, never had to do it, but I’ve heard of others getting their account back through contacting them. However their customer service is swamped now and it may take a week or more to hear back and get this resolved.
Or if it’s not important to get that War Robots account back then just link the account you get after a reinstall. They don’t show the dialog to link right away, so in War Robots go to menu and hit the sync or link button under the Game Center label. Just make sure you’ve switched to your new Apple ID in the real Game Center. If you haven’t you won’t lose anything, War Robots will just load up the other hangar.
Actually, if you just want to start over I don’t think you need to reinstall. Just open War Robots when Game Center is linked to a different Apple ID and in War Robots go to menu and try to sync it and I think it’ll create a fresh hangar for you and be linked up.
So once you have the War Robots accounts linked to GameCenter/AppleID accounts you can freely switch between them and open them on any device and not worry about losing them (unless you lose you Apple ID login).
Here’s one more tip to make it a bit easier to switch Game Center accounts. Instead of remembering and typing your email and password each time to switch accounts you can store that info and just tap a few buttons to fill it in. Go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Website & App Passwords. Hit the + button to add a new entry and for the website field fill in something like a1myWRname.com. This doesn’t have to be a real website but where I learned about this they always used .com so I do that for all of mine but don’t know how necessary it is. The a1 prefix is so this entry shows up at the top of the list. For subsequent entries use a2, a3, etc. Mine are named a1PulseHadron.com, a2PulseElectron.com, a3PulseCharm.com, etc. For the user name and password fields enter the Apple ID email and password.
Ok, now when you want to switch Game Center accounts, for the Apple ID field don’t type in your email. Just type any random letter and hit Next and it’ll show the password field. Here you press the Password button at the top of the keyboard and it’ll show the list you entered, of a1, a2, etc. Selected the account you want to play and it’ll automatically fill in the Apple ID field. Hit Next and it’ll automatically fill in the password field. Hit next again and it’ll log you into that Game Center account. Launch War Robots and hit the load button and then there’s that account.
Hope this doesn’t confuse or make you more trepidatious about this
once your accounts are linked you won’t lose them.
