I used to enjoy playing War Robots quite a bit. I enjoyed playing so much, that I actually spent around $140 on this free to play game. However, with all the recent changes, I no longer enjoy playing. And, I will not spend money on a game that I do not enjoy.
I was a clubber/farmer. I used my Gepards to earn the silver and gold needed to build and upgrade many robots and weapons. I did upgrade my geps and weapons out of the bronze levels into low silver. A day or two before the match making changed, I had decided to upgrade them into high silver tier. I was earning more of the much needed silver in the occasional high silver tier match so, I figured why not make it a permanent move. Then The MM Change happened.
I used to experiment with many different bots and weapons in low silver tier. You name a build for any medium bot and I had it in low silver tier. I might have had two or more of that build. I had so much fun experimenting with different builds that even now, after more than a year playing, I still do not have a top tier hanger.
No matter how much people liked to complain about Gerard clubbers, it was available to everyone, without spending a dime. Give me a newbie that played 20 or more matches per day, that actually listened to my advice, and I'd have him in a four slot hanger with four geps in less than a month. From there, it did take a little longer to get them up into low silver. But, I did recommended upgrading out of the bronze tiers.
Now I'm stuck in this perpetually slow grind trying to earn the silver needed for all the upgrades still needed for my chosen TT hanger. I doubt I will bother with it for much longer. I believe these changes were made to try to milk more cash out of each of us as we try desperately to climb up to full TT hangers.

You clubbed for a whole year and you're complaining about the lack of resources. You spent over a year killing swiss army Leos, Natashas and Griffins. You're saying that the only upgrades you have done were level 4 Gepards and level 12 Magnums and you're complaining after 1 month of getting beaten up by players with better equipment than you.
It's called karma.
Also, 20 matches+ per day is over 3 hours. Don't think anyone is willing to waste so much time just to hold down the red button, firing Magnums all day.

So your attitude was basically "yes I'll stomp you and ruin the game for everyone but you could have joined me in stomping others and ruining the game for everyone, so I'm not a piece of 「dookie」 like it would seem." Or put another way "If everyone just played the game exactly as I do, I wouldn't be ruining the game for everyone." Ironically, the match making has now been ruined for everyone, thanks to people like you.

Sadly its going to have to come to this before things get better here... The old Clubbers need to get with the program or find new pastures. I am glad I never ruined myself on clubbing..Max winning series in the triple digits has a way of spoiling you.

If you can't handle the grind, and only enjoyed the game when you effectively bypassed the grind by clubbing, I think you're right, the game isn't for you.

Yeah but I also don't really want to be stuck down there. I also enjoy the level of play in gold league. I just miss the flexibility. Hopefully some of the promised changes from pix will one day make that possible again (<looks wistfully off into the distance>) I think the damage meta has exposed holes in the game balance. Mid and short range tend to dominate, and there isn't a good answer for heavies at a distance. By moving down you can have a lot more variability in your hanger, and do it easily (and quickly time wise) vs the masive time investment (expended time and elapsed time) that a top teir hanger needs. A good buff to Zenits and NORICUM would break things up. I know that this encourages "campers" but they have little use or defense against light bots.... You would still need to level that light bot up (again time or money). |

You're a self identified clubber but you've also spent $140 on this game. On what? The purpose of clubbing was to rake in the gold and silver off the backs of new players who had no prayer of matching your mag geps in combat. Were you new to the clubbing game when the MM hit so you didn't have enough time to amass a dragon's hoard? |

You got enjoyment from easy killing ,then get all butthurt when the game was made more fair .. well.. I for one enjoy having to earn my kills.. I find it challenging to pit my wit's against others skills.

I was also beaten by a entire clan of Anarchy in low silver, in about 4-5 minutes and they were on comms. |

There is no way to pay exploiter/ abusers anything close to this for playing the game as designed. There is no MM system, gear based or not, that will appease this... There will always be abusers you say? True...The difference now is that Pix has never acted against them until now. And they have no choice about it. The clubbers of the old MM are the Tankers now. Pix is now wielding the club and they are going to need to swing hard.. |

You have to grind for upgrade silver like the rest of us, and like how the game was originally intended to work? What are you complaining about? Um, not to give you any ideas, but IMO clubbing is even easier than before.
I see 10/10 to 12/12 hangars at my daughters account on a regular basis, and she's in the newbiew league (700 points or something) where you find Spiral Destriers. Pixo has managed to _not_ get rid of the problem by introducing a horribly flawed new matchmaking system that spoils the fun for everyone (being able to run medium and light hangars).

Sometimes I have enjoyed this game. Sometimes it has been frustrated. Sometimes it was completely unenjoyable.
Under the old MM this game was mostly enjoyable in matches where clubbers didn't play, often frustrating when clubbers were on the red team, and usually unenjoyable when clubbers were on blue. Obviously this only happened to people (like me) who had recently started playing and were therefore still stuck in clubbing tiers - but that includes a lot of people who are necessary for the game's long-term existence.
The new MM has changed things a bit, but I can't say I'm sad to see such a selfish manipulator leave. I'd rather associate with people who are willing to participate in a game that is fun for all than people who are only satisfied with win-at-all-costs methods. In the case of these players, the only thing I hope is that they find PvE games to replace War Robots instead of ruining yet another PvP game for others.
I think driving away behaviors like clubbing was the ultimate objective of the new MM, and I'm glad to see it's working even if it means we "lose" players who didn't really contribute to the game being fun for anyone else.

The thing is, 4/12 Gepards were killable by Pinata Thunder Viyazs, a common build. 12/12 Ancile Lancelots cannot be killed by spiral Destriers. |

I ran 4/12 geps in silver tier like you....I didn't care about farming but ran geps because I liked the fluid silver tier game play. I also ran a trash gold line up as well to vary the game play...I miss having the flexibility. Two things to just keep in mind: 1. You will get little sympathy from many here as soon as you say you ran geps because we gep drivers are evil and the cause of all things bad with the old MM....it was our fault that Pixo moved to this new funkier MM despite Pixo saying that the old MM was resource intensive to maintain and couldn't support the additional functionality Pixo wanted to build in as well as allowing clubbing. So now we get 12/12 clubbers with the new MM. So piss on the lot of those bed wetters and ignore the criticism.....folks who ran 4/6 boas, 4/12 geps or 6/9 in trash gold for example were optimizing for equipment based tiers. 2. The grind is the grind - just accept it. It wasn't like you weren't grinding in the old MM with your geps....you just had a very high win rate and would crush the competition in 2-5 minutes. Now you really have to play on top of your game to continue to do well. I actually accrued a lot more silver with my trash gold lineup than with my geps in the old MM and still true in the new MM. Same with gold. So just adjust...it is definitely a slower game play but a truer test of skills because equipment levels are all over the place. Gep drivers always claimed they were skilled in the old MM....I see a number of them doing very well in the new MM (forget about tankers/ditchers/clubbers nowadays which are composed of all kinds of pilots and not just former gep drivers....they all suck!), but I also see a number struggling to compete. So either you were a skilled pilot or you were not - the new MM really puts that statement to the test. We are not going back to the old MM and can only hope for the custom match option to be able to run our geps again. If you decide to leave, cheers. If you choose to stay, find a way to enjoy the game. I really don't care when I get to a 12/12 hanger.....it really doesn't mattter anymore. Just learn to get the most of your choices and don't look at statistics like win rate, kill rate or damage rate which are useless. |
