How does a Trident Zeus Carnage handle itself in battle in Silver leagues?
Or to put it another way, is running a Trident Zeus Carnage waste of time, and I should instead keep it as Thunder Carnage, and stick a single Zeus to a Leo or something? Or is Zeus Trident Carnage actually an ok mid range menace?
Background: I don't have the Trident yet, but I could get and start upgrading one very soon. OTOH it'll be a long time until I can afford a 2nd Zeus.

Use dual Tridents or dual Zeus.

Use dual Tridents or dual Zeus. he stated that he does not plan on bein able to afford a 2nd zeus for quite a while, and is not even capable of obtaining is 1st trident at this very moment. I think all he wanted to know is if he was able to use a carnage as an effective midranger with the (very close to) current gear that he has. Personally I would not recommend trident/zeus carnage, as it is generally better to specialise your bots for a specific role instead of trying to have the best if both worlds. Immy opinion the RDB Griffin outperforms the trident carnage anyway, so I would not suggest for you to use the carnage as a midranger at this stage.

I actually do run a Zeus Gekko Leo at the moment, and it is kinda ok, but the Leo itself is level 6 only (ie. slow...), and I'm not sure I want to spend any time upgrading it... But I'll probably stick with it, maybe "waste" a few upgrade days to speed it up, and not get a Trident yet with my WSP.

I wish i had used my workshop points on multiple fujins/carnages.

Hyderier, you are not missing out sticking with a Thunder Carnage unless the extent of your tactics is to charge face first into the enemy leading the charge across vast open areas. Any later changes to midfield fighting will be an alternative way of enjoying the game. Not necessarily superior.

Yes, I try the ambush thing thing but it only takes aan aphid volley to lower my shield then I am an open target to everything. Once every other blue moon I get the perfect scenario and can reek havok , but like I said, it's once in every other blue moon

My Thunder Carnage never killed more than 2 bots before it died.

Trebs and zeuses love my Trident Carnage and trying to get angle shots can be tricky. The 600 meters sounds nice until map terrain lets the Knifers close the distance easily. Russian Death Buttons zero the shields at an uncomfortably long range. Managing damage on the Carnage has always been a core feature. Since you lean towards midrange already you stand to have an advantage there. Just don't expect it to be a miraculous change. About the only way to really increase the survival is to go Trebs or Nashorn. It's not hard to imagine what value it would be on the battlefield...

Any later changes to midfield fighting will be an alternative way of enjoying the game. Not necessarily superior. I seem to do best in my Thunder Carny, TBH. The shield really seems to give an advantage when going after Aphid Pattons for example. Then there seem to be some DB Griffs in Silver, who get close expending their jump, then unload mostly on Carny Ancile, and then get crippled or die before they can get away or fire again. Also multiple heavies coming around the corner to kill me, underestimating the close range DPS and dieing before they can gangbang my Carny seems to happen surprisingly often. And then sometimes it just happens I find myself at enemy flank (for example at DC on the enemy side of the crater, reds paying too much attention to the central beacon), and can start running and shooting at close range. Ahh... Which brings me back to the subject of testing how Carny would work with this midrange weapon mix. Would it be equally fun or not? Well, I'll probably hold out testing that for a while (until I can get a 2nd Zeus, maybe), as I said above.

I changed my Carnage from Thunder to Zeus, I quite like it. I did win 1 Zeus in the event, so only had to buy 1. The 2 Zeus are only level 6 need to be a bit higher I think to be more effective, playing in silver 2 so alot of level 10/12 bots around.

Part of the thing I had to come to grips with for the tridents is there is a second delay between hitting the fire button and the 1st round heading out and then there are 2 more rounds. Zeus on the other hand is instant. That small bit of difference, to me, makes the combination feel a bit wonky on a Carnage especailly if you are moving side to side to hide/get cover.

I'm running a Zeus/Trident Carny on my Android account and I like it! Well, ok, it's not a 'meta' build, there are other more effective builds, blahblahblah. It's fun, one side breaks shields, the other stings like crazy. Don't use it for DPS output, much better as a flanker and harasser just like a 2xTrident or 2xZeus Carny, but you get to mix splash and energy damage.
There's an epidemic of Bubble Shields out there, plus the Brit Bots, plus all that mid-range ordinance to try and dodge. Unorthodox builds could be the next counter-meta...
