I havent played War Robots this week as I found a new game to be my guilty pleasure, Galaxy on Fire 2. GoF2 is a single player space trading/mining/shooting game similar to the old Elite games or Elite Dangerous. I loved Elite and so I am loving this game. It is a shooter so I am still shooting stuff, just in space. I bought downloaded content for about 5 bucks total which includes two new campaigns and tons of new weapons, ships and my own personal space station to store it all. Also all stuff sold at the station is half off. So how about that Pixonic? Lol. I actually found this game through seeing Rebel Galaxy on Steam, which is similar, but I wanted an Android game so tada! GoF2 appeared. So after playing through three campaigns and tons of side missions to complete Medals or achievements, I may go back to War Robots. We shall see. Here is a video showing the game play. The actual game play starts at about 3:19. ;-)

Ahhh a kindred spirit ;-)
Galaxy on Fire 2 (GOF2) is IMO the best iOS game ever made!
It has been unchallenged in game dynamics, story, and tactical setups.
And for the same price than 30 days VIP in War Robots you get huge amounts of content and loads of replay value.
When the Developer FishLabs was sold to Koch Media a huge fan base was hoping for a sequel, or an open space trader. But the new developers were greedy and designed lame P2W versions under the old GOF franchise instead. Luckily they are still maintaining the old GOF2 and it’s extensions.

GOF2 is the real deal! If you have never played it, it is an absolute must. You won’t regret the expense for game and extensions. I’d skip GOF1. But if you want to extend the fun and start with GOF1, then note that you’ll you start over from scratch with GOF2. Skip GOF3 entirely. It was developed by Koch Media after they acquired FishLabs and has nothing to do with the originals. Happy pirate blasting

Ask away. I have played GOF2 end to end many times and will be happy to share tips and tricks. . I did ask.. look up. ^^^^^ Nothing is carried over from GOF1 to GOF2. But importantly all your gear and accomplishments are carried over from GOF2 to all the GOF2 extensions. The GOF2 extensions easily double the storyline. GOF3 has nothing to do with GOF1 or GOF2 (it’s a lame piece of crap that was produced by the company that has acquired FishLabs), so nothing you acquire in GOF2 carries over to GOF3. Did this answer your question?

I also have a question: is Elite Dangerous worth the time? I am considering giving it a try.
And feedback or (links to) tips would be much appreciated!

Galaxy on Fire 3 was NOT good... don't get it! I loved GoF2 and paid for the extra packs. If I could have transfered my save file to my new phone, I'd still be playing it. Almost caught all the bounties too!
As for other games, I'm currently playing Shadowgun Legends, a FPS game with both campaign and PvP and campaign co-op game play. Having a blast with it too. Also, I started playing Metal Madness. It's ok. Spent $1 on it so far to get the starter pack. According to reviews, P2W is prevalent, but I haven't seen much of it yet. But then, I haven't played enough to progress far up the food chain yet.

More of an "over time" game and not a "in the heat of action" game... lol GoFA is more like Civilization and AoE.

touché, it is indeed a bit more strategic than tactical! GOF2 is an action packed space sim that evolves over time and has a witty storyine at that. I was in love with it, and played it several times over (starting with no gear). Other than War Robots you can win this game with many different ship setups, and all setups can be realistically acquired as the story unfolds.

So the next question is if I playGoF can I migrate my character or what ever to Gof2 then 3 or do you start from scratch on each game? This question has been answered already but I thought I would reply anyway. This is my first GoF game and I will probably go on to the other games. I do have some helpful advice. First, I suggest going through the videos following the Lets Play I posted above. Theyre fun and show some tactics. I suggest using the emp bombs to disable enemies, then finishing them off. Also shooting off a nuke close to yourself will damage enemies around you but does no damage to your ship. Do the clear junk missions, firing an Oppressor nuke into the junk will finish it off in one shot. Easy money. Two smaller nukes also work. Get wingmen, they can keep some enemies busy while youre trying to dock at a station. I generally avoid escort missions, but thats just me and one person whose post I read. Other missions seem easier. I bought people containers,I forget what theyre called, cabins? Two large ones eventually. I do missions taking people safely from point a to point b and make decent money. Some links. galaxyonfire.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Shipsgalaxyonfire.fandom.com/wiki/Medalsgalaxyonfire.fandom.com/wiki/ This last link is to another video in the Lets Play GoF2. In the description you will find a link to a spreadsheet for all the ships in GoF2 and the dlc. Great reference for looking for that ship you really want. Good luck and have fun.

Oh, I remember I recommended Galaxy on Fire II on the other topic.
This is amazing game, and as was said before, buy extensions - it's not only new plot, but also new gear, rules etc. Much more than in basic game.

I'm thinking of creating a freeforums.net GoF2 forum. I always have questions and sometimes google and wiki dont have the answers. Like now I did the first couple of missions on Valkyrie, story missions, and was supposed to get 200,000 and 100,00 credits in my account. I got nothing. Anyone who played GoF2 Valkyrie have this happen? And anyone Like The new GoF2 Forum Idea?
In Galaxy on Fire 2 if I uninstall the app then reinstall it, will I still have my game progress and save games? TryiNg To Fix The No Credit Bug In Valkyrie.

I am liking GoFA. Started GoF2hd. Not much help out there for GoFA. I am in a decent alliance and they answer questions pretty well. I just would like a resource that I can study without having to ask a ton of questions.

I played GOF2 years ago, it's still fun but when the story ends it gets a bit redundant. It looks a lot different than when I played it. The expansion packs and Kamel club are worth the RM if they're not already included nowadays. GOFA isn't quite as shoot em' up if that's what you're looking for and GOF3 just sucks IMO.

I made a video of one of the last few missions in GoF2. I go up against two Vosk Battlestations to get a special crystal to stop a Supernova. Later I might try to actually take down one of these big ships. Theres a medal for that I want.

Hey there! I know that this thread is probably dead, as it was made a little over a year ago, but I just really wanted to say thank you for sharing my Galaxy on Fire 2 Let's Play. As a small creator, this means the world to me! Thank you so much!

Yes...GoF 2 and 3 are pretty cool....have the constraint of being in a story, though. Some games feature an “Open World” mode to explore, which is awesome.

I have just recently re-discovered GOF2 since I uninstalled it a year ago due to the game-crashing bug that resided shortly into the second campaign. I finally finished it just a week ago for the first time because of this. I have been looking for another game like this, as it checks pretty much all of the boxes I like to see in a space sim-type. Of course, GOF3 departed from practically everything which made GOF2 as awesome as it is. Any additional references are appreciated!
Bunch of shameless necro-bumpers here.

Of course, GOF3 departed from practically everything which made GOF2 as awesome as it is. Any additional references are appreciated! Bunch of shameless necro-bumpers here. yay to Necrothread bumping! But GOF2 deserves the attention. IMO I tâs one of the top mobile games ever made. Unfortunately the small company was acquired at some point and the huge fan community was insulted with GOF3 which turned an awesome space sim/explorer game into a freemium piece of crap. GOF2 had everything a great game needs: - fun and smooth mechanics - loads of well written characters - huge galaxy that can be freely explored as a trader, bounty hunter, pirate or a healthy mix of all of the above - an incredible amount of content that can be combined in countless ways: I spent weeks browsing the galaxy for ships, weapons, gear, and blueprints to build even cooler gear on my own - an absolutely fun and entertaining storyline, with two huge extensions (each adding even more ships and gear) I played through the entire story twice. While the story is great it is also possible to just roam the stars, find hidden planets, collect and experiment with different ships while taking on procedurally generated side missions of all kind. The business model was simple: you paid once for the game, and once again for each extension. The only in app purchases included your own private space station (so worth it) and special ships that players can also get for free by playing. In total I probably spend under 25$ all in. I have not met anyone who at the time (before folks spent 1000s on F2P 「dookie」) did not feel that this game was great value. Then everything changed. The gaming industry discovered the concept of freemium and P2W, we players were too dumb to fight back, and abusive developers were buying successful gaming titles like GOF to exploit them. The result, GOF3, is like all the other free to play 「dookie」 out there. - No story line or characters worth mentioning - Incredibly repetitive gameplay - Eternal grind without purpose other than hitting paywalls Go get GOF2 and all extensions, and have some fun!
