I guess another option might be Nucleon/Shredder. Not ideal, though.
Jeb - Regarding the Calamity/Spark, wouldn't I also need to invest in Guidance Operator for both weapons? Seems pricey for something I don't really want to use. Not necessarily. Strider's not a brawler and so if you're tucking into cover to build ability charges, you can be locking onto your next victim at that time. You just aren't going to be target-switching super fast. Don't get me wrong, I've always avoided lock-on weapons too, but when I've run this build in Skimishes (at some point, I know I have), it definitely had its advantages.

I've never really understood the reluctance towards using scourge types especially for brawling. Once you've mastered using target lock and the angles you need to keep lock (and more importantly how to hold down the fire button while turning to auto switch targets) they're incredibly strong against anything without a physical shield. The DPS/DPM is on or above par with most non-burst brawling weapons and is augmented with the fact that they do not miss. They've been a favorite and top performer of mine for years on almost every bot.

Oh, I get that. I think that lock-on electricity weapons are particularly strong against my Ravens, for instance, but I just haven't been a fan of how they work.

Getting good with my taser build took me some time, but Im glad I persevered because its still a VERY versatile beast to deal with. Managing the slippery targeting/lockdown difficulties was a commitment for me. Still rewards

I misspoke, targeting in crowds was the difficult part to master for me. I use LD on all my Striders, even with the taser. The fast target switching is more of a challenge to LD multiple reds, but it can be done effectively with practiced precision. Sweeping a crowd of reds with LD rockets and nailing 3 or 4 of them is much easier to do comparatively.

Thanks for the recommendations, folks.
While I work on leveling up Calamity/Spark, I have Nucleon/Shredder mounted. So far, so not horrible.

In the offers section, click legendary pilots, scroll all the way to the right. 5% damage increase for 8 seconds after a dash. Adrian gives 5% all the time Wait a second here .... Are we talking a stackable 5% as in .... closing in on enemy 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% smoked? Or just a steady 5%? It does say each time it's activated? If it's the later, I've been waiting a long time for a Legendary Pilot for one of my Top 5 bots for trash that doesn't even make any sense. Your right, if Adrian gets 5% all the time, what the hell is the point? Hi all, Has anyone been able to test if the damage is stackable or just 5% no matter how many dashes?

HELLO…….is there anybody out there? Am I the only one loving my new passive module? Since I had a spare Overdrive mod I slapped it on my opener. For ADDED 「dookie」s and giggles I moved my best drone over there too. My opening Strider Pugsley is now the strongest heâs ever been. Lasts a lot longer and fuggetaboutit when the MM throws me an entire team of experts, goes the entire match sometimes. Long live SuckerPunchð

Long live SuckerPunchð I've been running a new setup in my 5 Strider Hangar, 2 Shredder & Redeemer with max damage modules and a lockdowner chip to speed up the locks. Man, as long as you use your speed to avoid the Shells that setup really rips non-physical shield bots to shreds. Current strider hangar is 2x full flames, 2x Shredder/Redeemer, 1x Ice Rockets. Quick aside: ice rocket Strider took a massive effectiveness hit when absorber shield chips became commonplace. To easy to lose a quarter or more of a clip into the damn purple shields, better to look at less DPS and more DPM options right now.

I try to work it so I hold dashes and can skip inside their bubble. Not a good strategy vs sonic guns, though.

I can def see all the absorber shields being a rocket waster in the 「dookie」 show that is champs. But I live in masters where it really is a different scene for me. To your point though, I have developed a much lighter trigger finger when using my 2 rocket builds.

Once you've mastered using target lock and the angles you need to keep lock (and more importantly how to hold down the fire button while turning to auto switch targets) And there it is. I've never managed to get that working. I frequently lose lock. Is it because I'm on a phone? Maybe. More likely I'm a spaz. Either way, the results are the same.

Losing lock is gonna happen when you’re spazzing around, thats just the way it is, no matter the device. Learning to manage it takes patience and experience. Guys who say they never lose lock are probably playing it safe and not taking many chances. IMO its a matter of play style choice. Strider can be anything it wants to be, just depends on how skilled the driver is.

Seems to me the Adrian pilot makes way more sense than Jack, for obvious reasons.
@iamwalleyehsi agree about the dps dpm tradeoff if you're hunting non-Shell, but dang, there are a lot of Shells pushin their weight around. Don't you think Ember would be a better choice than Redeemer, as you'd be able to handle Shells better?

Don't you think Ember would be a better choice than Redeemer, as you'd be able to handle Shells better? Yup, I run two full flame Striders, two with shredder/redeemer and one ice rockets. The shredder redeemer builds definitely come out more towards the mid/game game when hawks etc are more prevalent. I open with flames and keep a second flamethrower build in reserve. 3/5 of the builds fully ignore physical shields.

Won a Hel, threw it on Strider with Sparks and some Quantum Radar to go Oreo hunting. Forgot how fun taser Strider is! 🤘🏻 Someone was discussing taser lock-on being an issue against Orochi, but I'm finding Quantum Radar does a pretty decent job. For when Quantum Radar is recharging, you either wait for the windows where the Orochi has no ability or PS, or you learn to target-hop in order to avoid the lock-on deficit. As annoying as lock-on time can be even with Guidance Operator, I actually enjoy the challenge of target-hopping. If you don't know what that is, it is when you select a different target within range, allow target-lock to complete its hold, but you don't manual-lock that particular target but instead move your reticle to the priority target when they are targetable again. What happens is the tasers then jump from the secondary to primary target. To do this really well is an acquired skill and well worth the effort.

A song of the Strider ninja teaching the Strider neophyte about cms with SuckerPunch What a mix! If I could just have this track on constant loop for my remaining War Robots playing time (days or weeks?), that would be dandy. Fun fact: classic SuckerPunch CMS occurs MUCH more often in Masters than Champs

Can we update this to "The Sucker Puncher"? My strider loaded with my Shredders and my Puncher, while not OP, is certainly proving to be a proper menace and PITA mwhahahahaaa!

Strider continues to shine. A bit more challenged now by Fafs, Oros, and durability enhancements, but still has its ways. My suggestions:
Orochi counter: Quantum Radar - Hel Snaer - Hel Quarker - Puncher Shredder - Puncher Quarker - Any mix of the above
Fafnir counter: - Any of the above, but if primarily used for beacons, I can’t recommend the Ecu enough; at least one
Tank counter: - Rockets - Flames - Fireballs - Toxics - Any mix of the above, keeping some distance, flanking, wearing them down - Drone with stacked attack chips, possible Death Mark module can also assist

With lots of players expecting a an imminent Flamethrower nerf, I'm considering changing up my Glacier/Blaze Strider. I scored a pair of Scalds recently...worth it?
Also...what's the general consensus between Adrian and Jack? I currently have a level 70 Adrian.

Paired with another obnoxious sounding weapon like Puncher guarantees you a promotion in the afterlife. Its the first new build for Strider I’ve done in months and Im satisfied with it

With lots of players expecting a an imminent Flamethrower nerf... Woah, what? How have I missed this? Anywhere I can read up on the theory? Genuinely curious. Adrian mentioned the possibility a couple times in the last several months. I haven’t seen any further mention in discord or elsewhere. It seems it was speculated as a way to promote the sale of toxics, but no further word heard, and both weapon types have excellent performance comparisons. Regardless of what some say, with a few minor exceptions the game is actually quite balanced from the point of view of the base stat performance.
