Some screenshots. Both ugly as hell, as perfect as the name. Pixo did not outdo themselves here. They look more like low tier bots than anything else. This isn't like the Inquisitor whose very look means a $300 robot. Ares seems way big if this is supposed to be a light bot. It strikes me more of a heavy size. Gameplay I found both a bit underwhelming, aside from a bit of a learning curve, but both are fun to use and aggressive to play. The machine gun on the Hades is near useless. The spider like extensions on the Ares catches into things and is also near useless since like the machine gun, is deployed too late and withdraws too quickly. From the view point of opposing them, their abilities are annoying to fight against, but it only takes getting used to them. Tactics to use and against, are similar to stealth bots, with a bit of anticipation, cool head, patience and timing. Lock downs are a good recipe against them. Of the two I like the Hades a bit more, the repair ability seems more handy than the increased speed on the Ares. At the end of the match, damage scores ae mediocre, which may also have something to do because of these bots themselves with their defensive abilities and the lack of HP meat in their bones, compred to a match full of abundant HP robots.

The Ares is really cool imo. Reminds me of Predator. Both of these bots are far from OP. They sound menacing in writing, the reality is they’re easily killed with stuff we already have. I’ve spent hours in test server this morning. People are overreacting, I certainly did when I read about them and listened to Manni’s high energy news anchor salesman psy-op

I found Ares' run to hide more useful than healing ability of Hades. Both had same all absorb power so equal points there. Revenge ability only worked when a noob player didn't know about it & kept firing into the shield.

After playing I don't agree with that assessment Ogre, though I admit it is hard to judge at the moment. We're still just brushing the surface on how exactly to ideally play these robots, experience matters (just imagine my example below). Just remember that many people said the same thing about the Dash Robots, that the Ancilot and Griffin were fine... and then they disappeared completely from Champions League one the Dash robots were played to their potential. We won't see the disappearance anywhere near as fast for the existing meta robots as we did for the Lancelot and Griffin because of the new economy, but the Ares is really strong. I found Ares' run to hide more useful than healing ability of Hades. Both had same all absorb power so equal points there. Revenge ability only worked when a noob player didn't know about it & kept firing into the shield. We've seen similar abilities in other games (League of Legends) and the essentially the invulnerable shield at high levels is going to be used to deny damage, rather than power up other weapons because players won't be dumb enough to shoot at it. But imagine a line of Ares advancing, after one loses it shield another comes forward and activates it's shield.... that is literally unstoppable.
We saw that kind of teamwork with the Inquisitor in Champions League when it was released. They were leapfrogging over each other in succession denying you the opportunity of engaging the one coming out of stealth because a new one was flying in over it's head. Only the Shocktrain ended that madness. With a bit of teamwork abilities like this can be downright broken.

Even the best Pursuer pilots get destroyed. I used my usual hangar equipment to see how they did, and especially looked for targets who understood the Pursuer-like principle I just mentioned. Not that big of a deal. But true, this is only the test server. We’ll see, but so far I ain’t worried.

The more I think about it, this is end game. Four Ares advance... 1 activates the shield, then when the first shield runs out the second one activates and steps to the front, when the second runs out the third activates ect... by the time the fourth shield runs out the first shield has recharged. Working together they literally can't be killed unless the four Ares players make a mistake. We're going to be seeing top clans spam these robots. But how do you stop the Ares train I talked about above? These kind of abilities can work in MOBAs like League of Legends because you can only have 1 of any Champion. If a team can have 5 Karthus players... then suddenly when everyone hits level 6, everyone on the other team would instantly die. But you can only have one Karthus.

OK...what I'm hearing is that a team of Greek Bots can overrun the entire battlefield....
And that the answer is a team of different bots countering them...
This is, at least, semi acceptable to me
I was assuming 1 bot would destroy an entire team.
If it's still a game... it's still a game

Lol, you think only noobs are on TS. It is clear who knows what they’re doing, and there’s plenty of ‘em. You guys wanna argue it’s all OP, yet I’ve been killing them, noobs and champs alike. Without a doubt some coordination can make groups of them challenging to take out, just like other mechs we know, such as multiple Bulwarks supported by those nasty little cockroach Menders, but they all die too with the right conditions. So I’ve presented my position that they are not invincible and I’m not worried about it, and you and Bronze look at them as endgame. I’m done overreacting about content that dies, and die it does, always, under the right conditions.

False equivalency is the problem here. Bulwarks and Menders aren't difficult to deal with for a variety of reasons, key being that they aren't potentially invulnerable and don't do near the damage the Ares can dish out. And if you don't play at the top in squad versus top squads you wouldn't know that.
Just because we've been able to handle different new robots in the past in some cases (and certainly not in all, Dash Robots ran over everything) doesn't mean anything. This could be the Dash Robots all over again or the Wild West Robots all over again. A little of analysis is necessary to figure out which one, but rehashing old arguments that aren't specific to the problem at hand is a sign of poor analysis.
The beautiful thing is we all get our say and we'll find out. Certainly we could both be right. If your playing solo versus randoms and not at the top, then none of this matters. Alone an Ares isn't that scary. The level 12 Boa beats the level 3 Ares probably. But for me, I think my analysis will be spot on if these robots are released this way for the top in squad versus squad play.
Of course, let's not forget Pixonic will eventually release the counter to these robots later, so it isn't end game in the sense the game is over (Pixonic will sell us solutions to problems they create), it is end game in the sense there will be only one viable strategy at the top.
For the moment.

I don't like all the new content, and these bots are likely going to be more of the same dopey garbage.
But just speaking to the debate in this thread, the whale clans that could do bronzeknee's rotating wheel of death by ares, already are crushing the mere mortal champions with the existing gear. If I face them doing this lame Ares thing, so be it. It's no different than the current mk2 boosted pursuer into spectre raids they overrun you with now.
Fact is, if you're facing a whale clan, you're already done for. The ares isn't changing that aspect of the game, and no one else will be crazy enough to buy and upgrade a ton of these things.

But how do you stop the Ares train I talked about above? Don’t fight the enemy on their terms; if they are using a line formation that makes them near invulnerable head-on, then don’t take them head-on... Flank them, e.g. use an allie as bait - wait for that Blue to engage those Reds, then take them on from a vector they are not in formation to defend against; think Hover, Strider, etc. Stealth jump over the invulnerable leader to reach his allies who are on cooldown; or rush the back pilots with something like Pursuer or Hellburner - that’ll disrupt their formation. Use weapon setups that can hit targets who are not in line-of-sight, or are protected by an obstruction - Hydra (hail), Chimera, Vortex, Thermite, etc. Even a Tulumbas/Orkan/Exodus setup on a jumping bot would make do to get an angle on the rear targets. Failing that, good ol’ Sun Tzu says to fight the enemy where they are not. If 4 pilots want to bunch together like that to form a strong fighting unit, then leave them to it as they are leaving only 2 other Reds to defend all the beacons where that unit is not present. Granted you will need to use mobile units to evade that formation while also capturing beacons, but it’s certainly doable and despite the mobility of Ares/Hades, they can’t hope to defend 3 full beacons while maintaining formation.

I didn't even download the hockey app TS update. There's so much creativity out there and IMO Pixonic has lost theirs. These bots appear to be OP when looking at the stats. But I'd say their skill(s) convolute the bot gameplay. Yes it's added complexity, but in a bizarre eay. To simplify it, it's just more peekaboo 「dookie」.
And th test server doesn't work. It's set at level 8, but the new bots cause the most influence at top tier. So why not test them at least at level 11. Preferably 12.

The way I see it: stay away from high league squadding and you'll be fine from the whales. Otherwise you'll only see the occasional Patheon bot and they won't be much a problem. Vatican bots were for surprise attacks, Patheon bots are for countering those attacks, also for putting up a fight when an organized squad is grouping together and you need to suck up their firepower to focus at a certain problomatic bot within the group. I think Ares and Hades are pretty good on their own in the hands of a skilled lone wolf who's sick of Vatican jumpers.

The indestructable shield is bypassable just like any other shield. Energy, Aegius, and Revenge shields only work if you're outside the bubble. Also shocktrains have been found to bounce off Aegius shields, still letting them richochet and damage nearby bots. Shocks would still pick off these squads of robots, however I have not tested the shocktrain bounce on the Revenge shield, so that has yet to be confirmed for certain on my part.

I got invited to squad with a guy and out of 3 matches we spawn 「grape」 3. With just two of us in squad. One game he was afk for the first half of the round. My username might gave my team an alarm bell since it is "PushBeaconIdiot", so there is that factor as well.
If you need a proof that they are OP, just try to use them instead of trying to counter them. Vortex is the only thing I am afraid of, because you can not activate the shield instantly.
I made a forum clan for TS to test together, ID: 44568, Tag: WRF, Name: War Robots Forum, Region: international. I will accept everyone and promote to make getting in easier for every forum member who don't want to play with half fools. Join or not, it is up to you, but not playing with randoms is closer to real life scenario.

It is hard to gauge well at this stage. I have imagine other possible outcome that can be OP if fall in the right hand of a skill pilot. Just like hellburner people looked passed over it and thought "heh" and moved on. And look at the meta of BR what is currently happening. Trying take out these bots out in random mode will be a problem but a squad will be a little different.

Although the new bots are not as game-breaking as I thought they would be, but they are still too strong imo...
Ares can easily counter the popular burst damage builds in champion league today, they will be unstoppable in BR mode if they made into live server without serious rebalance.
p.s. sorry about the video quality, I rarely play on an emulator, and I had no idea how to adjust the video setting...

To me the issue is not as much as if these bots are OP or can they be defeated. The question is if they are stronger than average of current meta, and according to everything I have seen the answer is yes. The point here is that while this crop of new bots might not threaten you now, in a few iterations of this your current hangar will be obsolete. So, I think that in order to adopt and survive at least one of of these four has to be true:
1. You play in a powerful clan. 2. You are willing to spend a lot of hours to keep up. 3. You are willing to spend real money. 4. You are ok with dropping to lower leagues.
My score on the above is zero so I guess that pretty much narrows down my choice.
