I could not find a thread for test server this weekend. If we already have one, I apologize.
What’s new:
— Revised weapon visual effects: feature developing in order to improve game performance (Trebuchet and Noricum are not available at this test session)
Visually, they are more realistic than the current effects, but feels bit slower especially Tulumbas/Pins. Screen shake effect seems to be gone and though I like it without it, sometimes I don't realize I was getting shot.

New visuals are awesome! Especially the nashorn/kingdae/zues.
Missiles and rockets carry on after death ? also less delay in damage registration.

The aphids look very cool. Tarans too, but they do look slower. Orks/pin missles seem too big for some reason.
Overall an improvement. The smoke trails are awesome.

Nice visual effects. I hope in live server doesn't lag with these added features.

How do you get on the test server?
Thanks

Nice visual effects. I hope in live server doesn't lag with these added features. It's supposed to be less strenuous on the servers. That is the main reason for the changes as I understand it.

Screen shake effect seems to be gone and though I like it without it, sometimes I don't realize I was getting shot. Seems the other way around to me actually! Less realistic and more cartoony / garish than the current effects, but I like it because it makes the different kinds of fire easier to track and it's much easier to tell when a rocket leaves the tube, which makes it easier to react and backpedal / jump. Screen shake being removed is sort of a nerf to Hydras and Zenits, but a buff to firing Thunders directly over your ally's head...

Been working on getting my vid ready since the server went down. I think I have the visuals but still need to do the voice part. Needed a break will probably be this afternoon.

I like some of the new effects...not sure about the missile effects, though. The missiles look too big, and the smoke trail too black - looks fake or cartoon-like in my eyes (although easier to track, yes). Also not sure how I feel about the screen shake being removed yet, whether that's only for the current test purposes, or if that's a permanent change in the new build.

I like that you can see each projectile more clear and the area of splash. Looks very cool. My only comment would be to make the graphics more translucent so it doesn't clutter/over power the map and bot graphics, which are more important.

Nice visual effects. I hope in live server doesn't lag with these added features. I'm not sure they are going after making the graphics more realistic as much as smoother. Making it so that devices with lower specs can run the game easier, smoother, and longer. After the lag and choppiness of last weeks test server (I think it was their server since my phone wasn't throttling) I suggested adding a graphics option like the sensitivity option. This would, most importantly, allow my HTC One M9 to run the game for longer periods of time before needing to cool down and recharge. Also, this would allow those with lower spec devices to have a chance at playing the game, which would be their big advantage to mess with graphics. Of course they would never want to go backwards and make the graphics worse. Edit: After thought is that it would make their servers run smoother also? Pretty sure it would only affect the device which is displaying the graphics though since the servers are really only handling information like what, where, when, who. I guess if someones device is doing all that it can just to run the graphics, it is going to slow down its ability to communicate information to the servers too.

I feel that this is more cartoonish now.
Not a fan of that.

Seeing the missiles and rockets more clearly is good.
Those cartoonish explosions and lingering smoke clouds (what is this, black powder?) look terrible.
Moderating screen shake is fine but I don't like the idea of removing it altogether. It is a useful for of feedback.

Not liking it. As others have said it's cartoony. I consider it a downgrade but for performance reasons. The plasma blasts look cheap.
Kind of weird that client-side rendered graphics have an effect on server lol ad?

Client side graphics affect server load because the information the client sends is hinged to the visuals. If the client is lagging from performance issues, the server doesn't recieve data, and then has to rubber band the player/ordinance to where the fire occured on the user's screen, and where they are now. This is what causes the 'teleport' glitch, as well as another visual bug I get with aphids where the missiles APPEAR to jam straight into a wall, but actually followed their proper path server side and connected.

That's a weird implementation since client visuals should not be synchronous with location updates. These should be two asynchronous threads so location is not blocked.
Maybe the cpu is so pegged there's not cycles to switch effectively.

I like it!
The cartoonyness of this game is one of the most appealing aspects to me. After all, they're giant killer robots. Sounds like a cartoony concept if you ask me.
I think it looks cool. Thumbs up!

Can't speak to the technical side, but visually...
Is that splash radius I see now? Like this alot.
New aphid look, kinda cartoon like and maybe over simplified now.
Orkan missiles seem bigger and easier to see, like this.
Zeus looked good before, seems similar so OK here.
Black smoke trails, like.
Agree stuff does look bigger overall, like going from the 64 box of crayola down to the giant 8 pack, also a bit cartoonish but if this prevents lag, I'm all in.

Alright, so we all agree some of the changes look cooler, some look cheesier, but over all, NO to the visual changes, right?
Lag is worse than I've ever seen, both graphical lag of the effects and lag where I'll take aim and fire on a bot who blips 200m in a different direction. I rushed center and took fire (ancile covered me) but the game bogged down like the CPU couldn't handle it or something. By the time I could control my bot again, I was dead. And I keep firing on targets only to see them blip way on down the road, so I'm shooting at nothing, wasting ammo.
But the worst part of the graphic changes is the fact dark black smoke flairs up when you're under bombardment, and you can't see through it to aim at whoever is firing at you. You're completely smoke-screened off from seeing the enemy.
"Well, we really messed the game up for most people with the match making system. How can we make it even worse?" 'I know! Let's make it so you can't see the reds while under fire!'

Yea, after testing for myself, I've got to say that I do NOT approve of this!
From either a visual standpoint or on a performance basis, this is definitely not working. The transparency of the smoke effects is needed back, as mentioned above, it hinders your view big time. The little explosions also look choppy. Even when it isn't lagging they just look like little pictures popping up. The phones performance itself struggles every time some commotion happens near or mid range.

How it looks is neither here nor there for me; if it effects the mechanics of game-play drastically and causes you to not be able to see you enemies to return fire, bogs the game down and creates even more lag than the normal game already experiences, no amount of "looks cool" is worth it.

Creates more lag? I heard the graphics were transformed like this to reduce lag? Also, the view-blocking does pretty much the same thing as screen-shaking, so there's no drastic loss there.

Yup, just got done with ten games or so and it's definitely NOT smoother. Choppy, laggy, difficult to aim. Other than a some of the new animations being okay, I can't recommend the changes overall: it's not a very enjoyable playing experience with the way it currently stands.

Yea, I really believe that they are going for smoother running game play. I do think that they really failed. On my end they did anyways.

The trident was the most epic IMO.
Thunder smoke was distracting.
The bullets and missiles were fun. Really good enhancement all around...These guys are really on top of it.

Yeah, when I was playing, there were Orkan missiles going everywhere. I prefer the old graphics. All Pix had to do was minimize some of the screen shaking.

from the feedback form: "Weapon visual effects optimisation Cool visual effects add to the real feel from the game but unfortunately they usually consume too much of devices' power capacities. And to be honest we're not satisfied with the current state of visual effects just because of this reason. That's why we're revising the technical side of the effects. Please take into account that this version is far from a final one. We want to check all issues on the test server and fix/improve them."
So at least they are aware before I write some diatribe on the feedback form.
