Basically you get to do damage with less exposure. For example, you know that to do damage with Punishers, you have to either corner shoot with 1 gun or be exposed for a long time. This gives your opponent to do to you what you're doing to him. Corrosion means that you can dash out, hit and dash back in, and if you achieved a corrosive hit, then your target keeps taking damage.

I didn’t realize corrosion was a chance thing. Still it seems just do the damage at the strike instead of later. Like a critical chance thing. Or is this a way to sneak in OP guns, thinking people won’t notice the OPness with a time delay? At least on the Test Server corrosion seemed to be triggered all the time.

That was also achieved with unload time, we didn't need corrosion for that. Corrosion is just another gimmick from Pix. The OP has it right, corrosion is pretty pointless unless you have resistance type for damage type (or is corrosion resistance coming ...)

Damage over time, the gift that keeps on giving. It's the A.I.D.S. weapons. They got you once, now you got cooties with your innards slowly rotting even when you walk/dash away...

Corrosion.
The antidote for a diseased bot called Falcon (600k+ potential damage that can taken before death). - the effect depletes a Falcon's base durability at the specified corrosion rate of decay - i would assume it is a status effect The antidote for a Bully-wark which seems to trample everything in its path these days. - if it's a status effect, and not incoming damage, Aegis might not help in the case of corrosion - Aegis will probably block the particle damage

And should affect Pixonic's bottom line And once it has served it’s primary purpose, it will be nerfed “because Pixonic is listening” to make room for the next revenue driver!

Looks like no one gets credited for the “kill” from the “after effect” of corrosion damage if the enemy finds cover, and then later dies when their health depletes to zero. This could become a problem for FFA matches, as well as completing tasks that involve “kills.”

Just more "creative" ways to deal damage I guess. At least they don't seem to deal a monstrous amount of damage in a split second like Shocktrains used to. And I won't get punished for my teammate sticking his head out where he shouldn't.

Man this game is getting complicated. In the last 6 months we got healer bots, rooting machine guns, rooting shotguns, suppression bots and now DOT weapons.
From what I've seen on the TS videos, the heavy version is going to be waaaaay to OP.

Running all gear at level 8 on the TS, I had a Viper Falcon and Viper Fury and I got 1.2mil and then 1.4mil damage. Easily. Anyone crossing an open area was dead. I gave the Viper a pretty critical review on the feedback form. Unfortunately, pixonic isn't big on toning things down before they release. They'll let them run for 6mo and then nerf it. On the other hand, the Sting wasn't very powerful and I'd rather run gusts or sparks any day over them.

Just wait. The next OP weapon after the corrosion stuff will be a medium Nori/Zenit that deploys mines. So a Spectre camper can spend the entire match hiding and laying mines all over the red spawn point and over all the common approaches to the beacons.

You mean besides the obvious?

Next weapon will be "The Ban Hammer". Availability will start around Christmas 2018. With "The Ban Hammer", you'll be able to temp-ban other players from the game for 24 hours. Starting at a low 999$ introductory price, quality from Pixonic, as always:

What about a nuclear option that can wipe out the entire hangar, just $5 a pop, proudly offered by Pixonics.
