Hi everyone!
While led looking at other free games I could play on iOS, I came across a game called Planet Commander which involved spaceship combat. I downloaded it and found that it was almost identical to War Robots. It even had the different levels of rewards chests.
Is this game put out by the same people as War Robots? The company name is different but the resemblance between Planet Commander and War Robots is uncanny.

I think it changed to Space Armada about a month or two ago, if we're talking about the same game. It's fun, the nice slow pace is a relaxing break from the fast pace of War Robots.

It was fun and relaxing for a while. Then they released the $200 Star Destroyer rip off ship with the turbo laser turrets and the game changed to P2W overnight. I literally had to use my entire hangar to kill one of those things - and I'd worked so hard leveling my stuff up. I'm P2P, and I don't might spending money when I think a game is worth it. I deleted the game soon after that monstrosity came out.
Judging from how the game is structured, I think it might be Mail.ru behind them too.

I run into those "Star Destroyers" all the time. They have more now; a copy of the Millennium Falcon, Firefly, USS Enterprise, and a couple more I don't recognize.
I paid for the starter kit when I first downloaded it, less than $5 I think, and haven't spent a dime since. At the higher levels, pretty much only the Credit Card Commandos rule; however, if you see one of those massive $$$ ships you can just leave the game and there's no penalty, no LPQ.

Well, i'm still a newbie so no star destroyers yet. It's a fun game. Attempting to figure out how not to get so shot up. Trying to maintain a good range against multiple enemies in 3-D space is hard!

I played that when they introduced the Star Destroyer. When they added the Millennium Falcon and USS Enterprise I had enough. That's how I'll know when to quit War Robots: If I see Optimus Prime or Voltron on the battlefield I quit.

Be careful what you throw out here, the next big thing might be triple changers. Personally, I was hoping for Gypsy Danger with dual plasma chainsaw swords. I'd buy that for a dollar.

This pretty much sums up all PVP mobile games now,get to a certain level where the developers cans see you have an interest in the game and the meta changes.
I recently started playing Guns Of Boom, started out all fair and equal until i reached level 12,now im up against players with weapons two/three levels above mine,to match those weapons i need to grind endlessly for gun bucks or spend the money.
Im beginning to give up on finding something decent on mobile gaming, its all geared to relieving the players of their money in place of fun and challenging gameplay,i dont mind paying to any game developer when i enjoy the game but when its demanded of me to advance or equally play against other players then i feel its time to move on.

The Trejo event is on again now, lots of OP players running around killing everything, seems like MM is lacking in this event.

I don't think War Robots wants to pony up Danny Trejo money.

So, looks like this game is now called Space Armada. I re-installed it to take a look. All my ships now are outclassed for my league. Everyone is running dreadnoughts and super dreadnoughts and I'm still messing around with cruisers and battleships. But, at least my ships are decently leveled....
Anyway, I can't believe how badly they've ripped off pop culture. I thought the Star Wars Star Destroyer was bad, but they've added the Millennium Falcon for $60, and they've even added Serenity from Firefly. I'm tempted to get the Serenity since it only costs in game currency, but the stats on it is horrible. This game is even MORE P2W than War Robots. But, at least there isn't a mechanism to tank down the leagues and club destroyers and frigates with your dreadnoughts - unless you bought one with money when you first start.

It's such a shame because I'm having fun with my two destroyers and a frigate. I really wish the game devs didn't make their game P2W.

I'm still playing Planet Commander. But, the lack of other players is telling. Seems I discovered the game too late. Oh well, it's free and I'm having fun.

I actually miss the early stages of the game with the lighter ships. I used to be able to pop in and out of cover and drive people crazy. But, as you advance up the leagues, those hit and hide tactics don't work when a dreadnought can just tank your shots and come around the corner and crush you. These days, when I play, I feel almost like most of the other players are bots. There's no tactics whatsoever. Just a bunch of dreadnoughts flying into point blank range and hammering each other. Meanwhile, I'm flying around in my upgraded cruisers and battleships and destroying those $120 dreadnoughts like it's a turkey shoot. It's weird, I used to be able to buy high level weapons in the store too. The tier 5 stuff that just rips ships apart. Now, I can't seem to see any. In the past, about once a day, a rare higher tier weapon would usually be available, so you just had to save your jewels and gold for that. That's how I got my dual plasma and turbo laser turrets. Tip: The Arbiter is one of the best free ships in the game. It's fast and as you upgrade it, it can approach the HP of a battleship. Plus, if you put on the tier 5 weapons on it like I have, it becomes a true ship killer.

It's interesting you say that because from in game chat, frigates and destroyers in Survival is the most popular way to play the game now.

I haven't tried Survival in a while, and the chat was a disorganized mess before. Hmm...may be worth a look some time.

It does seem to have picked up a bit but the iOS version was never switched over to Space Armada from Planet Commander so I'm wondering if they just abandoned it?
