Hellburner was one of the random, lucky things that happen sometimes in War Robots. Had a fair amount of tokens, got lucky on a rare Hellburner game (Pixonic always puts the same stuff up there, and in the % off sales too. Could they be.. the least selling items for $? Shocker). That's how I got a Redeemer too, but it was a natural for a Lancilot with Tarans. They have the same range, do the same energy damage, almost reload at the same time. I spent $10 to get the rest but why not, it's a new bot and I needed a beacon taker that wasn't a dasher who could also do some damage and be annoying like a dasher. I personally don't play dashers because EVERYONE does.. and.. well.. they work a little too good, but we always adapt.
I'm in that bounce between Diamond III and Gold I spot where I get 1st or 2nd in every Gold I game, go back to Diamond III, then do average to sub par. Then I go back to the top of Gold I, slay, repeat.
Onto the Hellburner, now that you know my competition. Mine is lvl 9 with a lvl 9 Ancile and a lvl 12 Pinata that I might take to MkII lvl 12 when I win the lottery, I'm not sure yet. I don't have a switch out light to slowly work on it for him. Plus, he's not the toughest bot even with an Ancile so the pop out and spray or run up and spray of the Pinata, despite having no ammo, is best. It has 149,000hp, 43,200dmg (15,000dmg to you and never increases) overload, 60km. Ancile has 71k and is vital for this bot to have a chance. Was using a level 9 thunder while lvling the ancile and he'd get blown away before getting a single overload blast off sometimes. This cuts down on his already feeble dmg output potential. I was saving up for an Exodus for him thinking that'd be a nasty beacon taker rushing and obliterating but he can't take the damage. No shields, low end hp.
With the Ancile, I use overload to get across the battlefield now with ease. Overload bypasses shields, at first I thought it was going to suck but no, it gives him alot more longevity which he needs to get overloads off for speed and damage. Cover like crazy when youre up close until you rush them for the kamikaze overload, dont be too hot headed. With an Ancile, I take 2 beacons with him on average, sometimes 3, and kill 2 bots, damaging more. That's not bad at all, he's very competitive when done right and a complete PITA. His upgrade costs and times caught me off guard. He's a medium for the same price or a $10 difference with the Hover. The 2 cheapest new bots, right? Hover was a breeze to upgrade, slightly higher costs and times because it was a new bot. The Hellburner was absurd though. I think the stats on FANDOM by wiki are wrong. Lvl 8 to lvl 9 took 8 days or 800+au, 13 million ag I believe. I waited it, he was my free project, long time in the making, and I rarely drop money on the game these days.
Sometimes a dasher beats you to the 1st beacon beyond the one a few meters away, sometimes they dont, but if you get there at the same time you support each other. If there's no incoming attack which you check on your way to the beacon, you rush to a deeper beacon on the flank normally taken by the red team. When we do good, we get 4 beacon shut out games, depends on your team. You grab your initial beacons, lurk around in the mid to back field using cover looking for soft spots like unguarded hostile beacons, groups of 2 to 4 enemy bots in a close space. Then you can do your kamikaze if you want, here's where the Ancile works well. You actually make it into their midst, get 2 overloads, sometimes a 3rd. You can also overload through walls near contested beacons and other spots on maps. Thats great because they wont abandon the beacon. Use the 10% speed buff when you play him if you've got one.
If your beacon taker averages alot of dmg on a good match and he's your least dmg dealing bot in the hangar, you've got a good bot. The Hover always get the first point in KoTH though if you use its ability right and (usually) wins the game from the start. My only complaints: It should've had a medium slot instead of a light or even 2 lights but it's too late now. There's potential in the MkII lvl12 Pinata because my MkI lvl12 does okay. It's looking goofy without at least 1 paintjob option. Give us something, anything. PLEASE PIXONIC, JUST 1 PAINTJOB.
