I am thinking of converting my hangar to an all spectre hangar; willing to buy more spectres. I have a level 11 Raijin as my tank, w/ zeus'. I have a spectre with quad orkans. I have reservations about shocktrains due to the upcoming change in targeting. I have a hover @ 9, fujin, carnage @9, spectre @ 7. Is a spectre too squishy for higher leagues? Gold 3 now.

I’m about to have 4 Spectre and will run ST, tulu, ion, scourge for the most part and swap in orkan and tarans at times. I only have one hangar, midrange bots which works for most situations. 5th bot is a dragoon bulwark, more mid. I will probably get a 2nd hangar after Spectre 4 an get back to brawler/capper builds.
You can run any weap on Spectre that you like. They all work.

vi·a·ble ?v??b(?)l/ adjective adjective: viable
capable of working successfully; feasible.
It is definitely capable, not sure if it's feasible unless I want to mortgage the house. Which I do not.
That said, ANYTHING you run on it is vastly superior to anything else in game. I am getting at least 100k higher damage with a way under leveled spectre with 2 lvl 9 & 2 lvl 5 Tulumbas on it. That tells you everything right there.

worth it? I dunno.. Im about to get my first spec, no money spent.. cost aside.
I like a little variety, If I had to run a full hanger of 1 bot.. man.. that's not only boring but a glaring illustration of the state of the game.

That's true to a degree but they'll play mostly the same regardless of weapon, jump, ambush, drop payload, get to cover, repeat.
more power to ya, enjoy.

It's viable, but doesn't sound like much fun to me. I enjoy a little variety.

I realize the scope of the question; sometimes the fun is in the journey... I am willing to spend money over time...but maybe I might just add a spectre at a time.
..or wait for the 4X heavy slot robot...(just kidding). Quadexodus Rex...?
I really enjoy the play style of the Spectre. I have quad sets of vortexes, orkans, tarans already...

Caution…….
1. Spectres have been out for about 7 months. They will not rule the roost for ever and I reckon they are closer to fading into averageness than not. Investing so much so late in the life cycle of a bot would probably be a very poor investment because the crown will go to something else.
2. Also worth considering that every man and his dog is collecting spectres. Pix is guaranteed to respond when there are too many spectres are out there. They have always responded in the past.
People are now too late to the spectre show IMO. There may be a few months left before nerfing.

I agree with your assessment, however, In gold 3, I am not seeing too many spectres. I will probably temper my enthusiasm and just get a second spectre and see where that leads. Maybe an inquisitor, and a capping type of bot. The carnage and hover in my hangar are either just too slow or too exposed most of the time. Or maybe my skill set is not fully developed...
I can't seem to part with my Raijin in (11) with dual avengers (8)

personally i would get very bored running more than 2 of the same Robot in my deployment hangar. If you run 2 Spectres you should be able to finish the battle on your second Spec. without even needing to use a 3rd robot. I guess if you are good enough for that just focus on changing the weapons over now and again for a bit of variety. Plus if you only have 2 Specs then getting them up to L12 will be a lot easier than 5 Specs.

I am coming to that conclusion, swiftly..going to add a 2nd spectre and outfit him with my various quad weapon setups, probably tarans to start and experiment. As I said it's the journey, not the destination that is important. I will let the tides of battle govern my path, and adjust as needed.
I am not as enthused about quad vortexes as I once was... They miss the mark occasionally, and timing is everything. But they are only 9-8-5-5 at the moment.
I am still developing my skills, I'm learning to be patient and in my second month of War Robots, I need to develop my situational awareness, as I tend to "step in it" more than I should.

It reminds me of a player with a full hangar of Lancelots--maxed bots and weapons. I guess he payed real money when the British bots first introduced. Now, it's not an OP bot anymore.

With what have you replaced it? Just curious... A Spectre can be outfitted for almost any battle role and be better than most bots at that. The low health is irrelevant.

No. Every robot has a weakness. The problem with descend bots is their vulnerability after stealth, specifically the specters. The best setups to run on spectres are fast and hard hitting damage setups (orkans, shocktrains, tulumbas, vortex) Any weapon that takes time to unload it's clip leaves you exposed. So if you run a hangar full of one robot you have a hangar that is universally weak to the same thing. 5 spectres means, you will be completely weak to hydras, and faster bots such as kumihos, striders and pursuers who can all ambush you.
Run 5 haechis and you run into the same problem. You will be fully exposed to energy weapons at all times.
I used to run a hangar with one taran/scourge haechi, two spectars (ork/tarans) a DB inquiz with exodus, and a dragoon fury. My mindset was that stealth beats everything in the game. However, what I found is that while this hangar may work a little better in FFA, I was constantly being outclassed in my inquisitor because a dash bot could dash away and wait for my jump. Spec and quiz are also weak on bigger maps because they rely on not taking damage to be effective. So I have 3 robots that are weak on open range maps (because I don't have shocktrains/scourge yet) and what I found was that I needed a tank. Aside from the dragoon fury, I had no robot that could effectively push and tank midrange fire while getting into brawling range. So what robot is good for this? Shielded bots. I have an ancelot but two tarans is too weak. Todays current meta is all about firepower. So what robot fulfills that role of having high endurance and firepower? The bulgasari. I just got 10k components for one yesterday and now my hangar is balanced.
IMO, the best hangars to run especially if you don't have hangar decks, is to run a balanced hangar. 1 sniper/midrange, 1 fast bot (doesn't necessarily have to be a beacon capper) and 3 brawlers. In todays meta, I would say it's better to have 2 midrange, 2 brawlers and 1 fast bot because mid-range is dominating the meta... for example, my ideal hangar is to have a scourge bulgasari and dragoon fury. A problem with the fury is it has no way of dealing with a shielded bot rushing at you, especially when it has cover. Even kumihos can close the gap and become a serious threat, or descend bots. The bulgasari with scourge is a decent mid ranger however, it more often than not warns players not to get close because they will be in for a real damage hurt if they do. The fury dragoon does not do this. The closer you are, the more of a threat they are. The bulgasari does the opposite
And that's why I believe at the most, 3-4 spectars is all you need. 3 brawlers, 1 mid range, preferably shocktrains or tulumbas because it leaves you the least amount exposed.

I bought a second slot and I focused on getting nothing else except the specter once I unlocked workshop. I got it in Bronze 3 in about a month worth of collecting. So if anything, getting it by gold 3 is rather slow considering it's the first robot anyone should get. That or maybe a bulg/haechi instead

Well folks, I know the new bots are coming into play soon, so I am definitely getting a second spectre, but waiting to see how the new suppression bots impact the game. I likely will proceed slowly. I have collected half of my next spectre, and think I will wait for the discounted late night deals and save some $$. Note! In a TDM tonight, I scored my first spectre WRAMPAGE, and narrowly missed a second with my orkan spectre, (as there was a considerable gap in time between the two sets of kills). I am loving my spectre's capabilities, and am improving my play, picking my fights with care. Good Hunting!
