Ok, I haven't ranted in ages, but something happened yesterday that I have to get off my chest! I wish I recorded it too, but I had to rush out of the house.
So, I'm playing KOTH on Dreadnought. It was a pretty good game. We had a good lead - thanks largely to me of course. Anyway, we had a smidgen left on the bar. One more beacon cap would have gotten us the game. I had just finished off a Bulg with my Apex Mender (with help of course). Anyway, my blue helper died and I'm racing for the last beacon on the red corner side. It's white and I just need to turn it blue and the game is won. Sure enough, I get blasted from behind by a Taran Haechi and I'm meched out. The reds turn the beacon red and they're that much closer to victory.
On the screen, I'm watching the remaining bots battle it out. I see we have 1 blue left so I cycle till I see him. He's in an Orkan Spectre. Yes! Victory is guaranteed! We are well ahead on beacon points. He just needs to wait for our corner beacon to turn white, descend to it and game over! Right? Right?
Wrong!
The corner beacon turns white. He's right there! He can WALK there. No. He goes INTO the Dreadnought and kills a red Natasha. 「whiskey tango foxtrot」? He gets slaughtered by other reds, but I notice that the kill he did had green writing. He's running a freaking Mk2 bot! He respawns in a Taran Spectre. Kills another red. Yes, green writing. Freaking Mk2 Tarans! There's a beacon active where he is. Just freaking descend on it! Get to the freaking beacon you SOB! Nope, he dies. Respawns in an Orkan Haechi.
I give up.
Closed the game and took my daughter to karate...
Sheesh! Rant over...for now...

I gave up complaining about the lack of capping.I set up a speedy hanger for beacon rush and KOTH. I should not have bothered,as I now see it KOTH has become another version of TDM!

DB was there for silver and no league points. Definitely frustrating as he could have captured and run out of the circle and still come in nearly last place for league management

A lot of players, especially in higher leagues, play KotH like TDM, with the goal of meching out the red team. Usually their strategy is to control the center beacon, cap it, but walk away so it counts down slower and prolong gameplay. They will actually harass you and push you off a beacon if you try to get those beacon capping points. Sounds like that was what your boy was going for, and probably took the -22 for the effort.

I feel ya man. It's just another avenue for tanking. I've been screaming from the rooftops, it's out of control and as bad as it ever was. So much so that the game as it's designed (key phrase there) isn't playable or actually enjoyable for me. What's the point? If you're going to trade your time for some enjoyment, shouldn't the goal be to win? Play your best win or lose is fine, but if you KNEW that you would NEVER win another match.... would you play again? If you knew that the win was decided on a coin toss, would that be better? Because that's kinda like it is. It's not decided on how one team played better (unless there happens to be tankers on each team canceling each other out) but on what knob throws the game. So frustrating for sure. Solution? Break out your wallet and buy and upgrade everything throw on limitless boosters and who needs that last player. You can do it all for the right price. Actual solution? Change the way KOH is scored so people can't use it to tank and grab all that silver.

Someone explain the reason for pushing people off the beacon during KOTH. If you want to win?

Someone explain the reason for pushing people off the beacon during KOTH. If you want to win? Sometimes you should be in the circle, so you can rush the next switch.
Most of the time you shouldn't be in it, so your team has time to mobilize to the next one. If a blue is pushing you, firing at you etc., they're trying to get this point across.
In all cases, control of center is key, as controlling home side and spawn beacons is usually a given.

Many play KotH to control their league score. They can do as much damage as they want and play a full game, all they have to beware is stepping inside the blue rings, and they will be dead last. If you're after Au and league points, just roll with it, let them do the damage, while you get cap points.

THIS. I play in gold and my "callers" are a Carnage and a Galahad because my hanger is setup to be a Swiss Army Knife that does okay in FFA and random. Sometimes I'm the "capper" best bet is turn it blue stand there til about 1/3 ticks off the thing then run like the wind to the next one before: A) this one times out so you can help get the next cap or B) the reds show up and blast you off the beacon anyway. Just bump it grab a few points then go. You actually want to have time to cross the map I have had several times I left my post blew the one red smart enough to wait at their side beacon off and stood there to turn it blue before hauling 「bum-bum」 outta there. If I counted it to zero I don't know if I could get across kill the guy and cap it before it timed out oh and there would likely be a fire fight going so you probably couldn't flip it anyway.

So my observation was correct all along. Some KoTH matches felt like TDM. The reds were after damage rather than beacon points.

Oh no i been playing nearly a year and I just found out your supposed to get the bacons. Where do I find them they must be tiny. Wasn't in the instructions about them. Anyway where's the fun in collecting them when I can just run round and kill other bots. Or for real fun i can run a zenit build and camp out and annoy the arse off people. Sorry no bacon for me (sarcasm if you didn't guess lol).

Actually had a teammate shoot at me while heading for a cap and then shake his head and shoot me again...I capped it.....nite my buggy!

I can't recall the number of games I have yelled at my screen for the whalefluffer to grab the damn beacon. In my imagination, the player is some 10 year old kid picking his nose and eating it, because his overpaid and under involved parents give him money instead of attention, thinking the game is only about shooting the robots and has no clue what a beacon even is. Of course in reality, 10 year old's are usually smarter than that, so it is a millennial doucherocket that WANTS to ruin the win for everyone else.
