Zenotaph's burger thread got me thinkin'. And who doesn't need a light-hearted topic to jaw about sometimes? Preferred brand and brewing method for your coffee. Now, I'm not a coffee snob, anything does in a pinch. But we all have our favorites, right? I'll start. Brand: Folgers 100% Colombian Brewing Method: 3 rounded scoops and a dash of salt in my Mr. Coffee (can't afford a Bunn right meow, but that'd be better) Tap water cause it's cheap an I'm not thaaat picky. I don't leave it on the burner very long. Gets bitter. And no fancy stuff. Creamers and such. Black is the only way I really drink coffee, simpler that way. Makes a decent cup of joe. How do y'all make yours?

I prefer coffee to be free. As the saying goes - "Free food tastes best".
Otherwise, I buy whole bean coffee in medium roast Columbian or Costa Rican $7-10 a pound) and have it ground for a French Press.
If it's a store-bought brand, I like Cafe Bustelo (the one that comes in a brick) made in a traditional stove top express maker.

You snob.
I prefer Colombian Premium Muerte on espresso machine, Sulawesi or peaberry (omnigrind) with a French press.

I dunno what kind of coffee my college's cafe has in the mornings, but I drink it black, with no cream or sugar. I think it wakes me up best (I have to get up early in the mornings for my classes, and I've also got afternoon classes that take forever) rather than putting sweeteners/creamers in my coffee, "watering it down" (but the coffee version)

Did you ever try cold brewing? You save even the boiling expense Takes a while to prepare and you drink it cold, but taste is quite interesting and caffeine kick better than normal coffee.

Hum, well there's cold brewed tea and beer, so why not. Probably easier on the oils.

Coffee, just coffee any kind except the following: decaf, anything added to it, fufu coffee
Favorite way to brew, 75 year old coffee pot, grounds, water, boil it, when done strain to remove grounds into 70 year old pot, return to stove on low heat, get original pot ready for next batch. Repeat as many times as possible or needed in a day.
Favorite coffee Maxwell House.

The coffee is kept next to the gunpowder in the Moscow munitions factory I work in, and sometimes my half-asleep colleagues take the powder from the wrong bag. As you can imagine, our coffee machine has taken a royal beating from all this, but when it makes coffee (the correct powder!) that coffee tastes amazing. Don't ask me what's in it though.?

Up until recently, I was brand loyal to Starbucks French ROast K-cups. One each weekday, two on the weekends.
Then I tried the "Great Value" cups at Walmart. They're not quite as good, but tughhey're 1/3rd the price. Bought a box of 92 that ought to last for awhile.
Small spoon sugar, heavy cream.

That swill is found in the bargain bin at most Dollar General stores. (Not bad I reckon for the $1.50 price tag.)

Sprinkle a teaspoon of instant over breakfast cereal. Suprisingly good.

I use the whole bean varietals that Costco has in the 2 or 3 lb bag. I think the current one they have is Guatemalan. Course ground in my burr grinder (it's a cheaper one, I need a better one) then French press. Then I ice it. I prefer to drink it iced, even in the winter. Black, of course. So, ice cold and black, just like my heart.

I've gone through multiple iterations of brands coffee, coffee makers, etc over the years.
I have found that the coffee maker has as much to do with the the final product as the coffee itself.
I used to drink starbucks a long time ago when you went into the store and they weighed the beans and put them in a paper bag. Since they have gone to a vacuum-product the roast seems to have gone a little over the top for me. Now it's just over roasted to me. So I've been trying different brands and have been schlepping it with Dunkin whole bean for the past few years. It's actually pretty good.
FWIW - I have a Zojirushi EC-YSC100 pot and can't say enough good things about it.

Does tea count? I don't like coffee. It feels to sticky in my mouth. And a nice glas of Earl Grey is very refreshing. No teabags, the tea tongs. A bit sugar, no milk. My parents own one of those new tea machines, but I like it the old fashioned way. On cold winter days, I sometimes drink hot chocolate. But not that instant powder stuff. The good dark one...

Tea sort of counts, haha. I understand that different countries have their personal hot beverage preferences. Tea isn't my...cup of tea, but occasionally I drink iced tea in summer. Unsweetened Lipton sun tea, specifically. Gets warm in sunny So-Cal.

Unsweetened Lipton sun tea, specifically. Gets warm in sunny So-Cal. It is not about the country. Here in Germany we got plenty of coffee shops. I just don't like it. In summer? Well, I make iced tea myself. The secret is to cool it down very fast, after adding lemon juice and a little bit sugar.

Pap's guide for making hot tea: 1- Buy preferred tea from store. 2- Bring tea home. 3- Throw tea in trash because that's where it belongs. 4- Make coffee. 5- Enjoy!

Paps I would change that a little bit, time and money saver suggestion. Ignore tea in store. Buy coffee.

I'm like you though... don't be adding nothing to my coffee. The wife is from Seattle and drinks Starbucks mochafrapacrapalatta, as I call it. More cream than coffee.

Someone at my work actually runs his own coffee business on the side. Very small volume, so not available really unless you know him. But the coffee is great, and I have three to four cups of it a day. Black every time.
