My first thought was this was meant to slow down the proliferation of MK II Premium bots. My second thoughts are this is just a ploy to get players to buy gold to speed up upgrades. I would say both of those ideas are accurate. Only insofar as they say it's the first one, but seeing everything Pigsonic has done since they sold out to Fail.fu, we know it's really the second. They don't care one iota about game balance.

Edit: respectfully. No fu, or fingers, or buzz off’s. Concise, almost critic type review.

Edit: respectfully. No fu, or fingers, or buzz off’s. Concise, almost critic type review. I think you are both right here, it is just a difference in the type of “care” we are talking about: As a business looking to maximise and sustain revenue / profits from the game they do need to take into account balance and other aspects to drive player retention and engagement. So in that sense they have to “care”. As an organisation that built a game all the evidence would now seem to point to the fact they, at an organisational level, only “care” about the game for the profit motive - they do not “care” about balance or any other aspect of the game simply for the motive of making it a great game. So in that sense I am sure Danny Linguini is right that they do not “care” one iota about game balance or any other aspects of the game simply for their own sake. So today I guess the idea is that everyone goes to work at the pixo office with the goal to improve the game as a money making tool, very few, if any people today go to work there in the morning thinking about how they can actually make the game better. not that there probably aren’t a bunch of good people working there who would love to see the game improved for its own sake , but just they know those kind of ideas are not going to be taken on board and allocated resources for development and implementation so they do not even bother suggesting them. This I think helps explain why so many simple and obvious flaws in game play are ignored update after update in favour of increasingly insane, complicated monetisation schemes wrapped up to try and look like some “improvement” to benefit the player base.

You know if I were pixonic, i'd let this "new economy" sink in for a couple of months and then I'd offer Bots for cash that are pre-upgraded. Regular Bulg $50. Mk1 lvl 12 Bulg... $200. Mk2lvl 12 $400 I think this might be a serious thing.
Someone shoot the project manager for whale development an email.

Edit: respectfully. No fu, or fingers, or buzz off’s. Concise, almost critic type review. It's been done to death. It falls on deaf ears. They do not care. Smirnov himself as much as admitted there's no problem with selling power in the game, and they set out to do exactly that with complete and utter disregard for the imbalance it created. Yes, an unbalanced game drives players away, and we're seeing that happen here before our very eyes. But Pix is making their money first, and the ones who are paying are likely not the same ones leaving -- not as quickly, anyway. They only care about the 4% who pay big and whatever they can do to keep them paying. And to those players, of course the game is perfectly fine. Those are the only players they care about and the only opinions they listen to.

Many have stated they'll only upgrade grandfathered gear.If true Pix is bound to see a downward trend in revenue, will people follow through on this? And if so could there be any positive repercussions? Well I have no choice but to do that. The only new bots I have are ones that I have won or ones I have gotten through the workshops. I have a strict budget so I only get gold when I can get more bang for my buck.

I'm having a hard enough time getting my stuff to level 10 and 11 right now. I might have 8,500 gold right now, but I'm certainly not going to spend it on speeding up upgrades. I'd rather just pop in every few days. Especially since I need around a day of playing just to get enough silver.
I do well enough with my current hangar I suppose, so I'll just focus on leveling all of that.

Sitting on 15k Au, absolutely useless to speed up Upgrades

Play FFA for the biggest Ag payouts and the revenue boosters are pretty good. Also the 99 cent deals aren't bad for the most part. I got a lot of grandfathered stuff to upgrade and that's hard enough.I got 4 items partly from comps and some cash on what I thought was a deal but never again because (repeat after me) the new economy sucks!

I despise this new upgrade time. I’ve only been playing about 4 months and have a decent hangar that’s pre new timers. However just got my first shock train and 2 days for upgrade to lvl5 is just ridiculous!!
I just created an account for my son so we can squad (his account is on his kindle). I totally should have created the iOS account a long time ago as it will take forever now to just outfit him with a halfway decent hangar.
I wish venting did something tangible ??
