War Robots... Mechwarrior Online... Pretty much this entire genre of games traces back to the old school tabletop war game Battletech I used to play in my youth. And if you're like me, you'll always be looking back at that with fondness. Well look no further. Battletech released April 24th for PC on Steam. Turn-based multi-robot strategy goodness that plays just like the tabletop wargame did. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the campaign, and I'm totally loving it. I highly recommend it for anyone that's a fan of the genre. -And no, this isn't a paid advertisement, I'm just really enjoying the game that much, and figured some of you folks might as well. www.paradoxplaza.com/battletech/BTBT01GSK-MASTER.html

Always happy to see more mech games.
Although War Robots seems to be the best one I can play on my phone which means I can play it while im waiting on-the-go that's why I like it.

So I have been playing this since public launch.
IT. IS. AWESOME. (And it has an awesome in it fancy that).
Con's
Well its new, and there are faults in the game. Pig on GPU, has a few loading issues (your going to wait a lot) but there are ways to abate SOME of them. It is turn based, so if that isn't your thing then don't play.
In universe money is out of wack (the meat is more expensive than the metal) but now I'm picking nits. The AI often does dumb things (I'm used to this) and some times the "skulls" system (how the game measures difficulty) can be way out of wack (yea 10 assaults against your 4 mechs isn't fun no matter how bad the AI). Some complain about the knockdown system, but if your not using modified weapons then it is less of an issue.
The campaign is everything I wanted from a Battletech game. It is engaging enough to keep me interested and can be abused. The system is open ended enough that you don't have to rush to finish (you can if you want or you can build your company to rather impressive levels).
I have yet to PVP - the interface for that is weak and it can be a challenge to find a game. If any of you have bought into the game then shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to roll with you if time zones allow.
If you have a desktop, or a good laptop and like giant mechs than it lives up to its promises.

+1, my experience is exactly this. I absolutely loved the campaign. My only real complaint is that they haven't released any new content, and missions don't ramp up any harder once you're done with the campaign, and you're just running around the galaxy shooting stuff.
I've noted the performance issues on loading as well. I think it's because they used the Unity engine when they built the game, personally. It's not the greatest. But the game is so good, I've tolerated it.

One core issue in programing is dealing with lists (when, where, why how) the game does not do this well. Clean out your saves folder and get a massive performance bump! There are rafts of people complaining about balance issues - they need to PVP a bit the game feels very different there with no + weapons or high skill pilots. And people trounce the AI hands down. In fact playing against people will make it quickly clear why some of the missions are 10 v 4 - the AI sucks.... As for content, the modders are already hard at work and I suspect that HSB is cleaning up bugs and figuring out what to do next.
