I'm new to War Robots but I'm probably an addict already - way too many hours in the game. I would appreciate suggestions on what to spend gold on now that I've got five hangar slots. I run a pretty low-level set of bots - Leo 5X Thunder/3-5X punshers, Leo 5X Ember/3 5X Pinatas, Grif 2-5X Tarans/5XPinata/5X Pin, Leo 6X Thunder/5X Storm, Galahad (can't remember exactly but similar to the others).
Got lucky winning the Galahad spinning the "slot machine" chests, and I got lucky winning Ember in my Bronze chest. I've got a lot of silver too (for now), but spent all of my WP on 2 Tarans and 1 Magnum. I'm slowly building gold, mostly from daily challenges (and occasional gold on what I call the "slot machine").
Question is, should I spend gold on a better robot, or on more weapons? Also, it feels like an eternity waiting for the upgrades and most of mine are only 5 and 6 level. Is there a way to accelerate without spending precious gold?
Last question, is there any way to "monetize" the scrap metal like extra weapons and bots?
I appreciate any advice. And kill me gently when you're farming :-)
Cheers!

extra weapons and bots you can scrap and get silver. as for the gold spending, that depends on your playing style and where you want to grow into. don't spend any for upgrades tho, just wait for it.

spend your gold on wsp and use it for comps. I tend to pick 1 weapon and 1 bot im aiming for and then focus solely on that!! dont get distracted into wasting it on card games : ) This use of saving/converting gold has got me a spectre.

Thanks for the replies all! gman would you explain what you mean by "use it for comps"? Sorry, not that good with the terminology yet. I appreciate everyone's help! yeah sure.. all new bots/weapons are component based 10k of each. Daily deals change offering you the option of buying them in pairs x amount of new weapon components and x amount of a bot. These offers are usually in gold or workshop points and you can buy it twice in any given rotation. The best bang for your buck is the wsp deals,so buy what points you need for gold. I have a clear target of what combination deals i want and go for them solely.. It's usually two months of deals to get content from release date without spending, as deals increase as time goes on and the value drops ( once the whales have filled a hangar each : ). The advice upto now has been spend gold on slots then orkans and tarans untill you have 4 of each...... But with the ever increasing dash bots about ide say components are the way to go with spare gold. imo.

Thanks once more man. Components makes sense. Think I’ll keep letting the WP and Au build until I’ve done more research. Was thinking Orks but I’m getting a sense that the prefernces may be moving more toward plasma.
Appreciate the feedback.

After building out Patton with 4 Pinatas I had so much fun that I decided to buy 2 Orks and build a real DB Grif.
Thanks to all for the advice.

And the spending begins. Watch yourself that you don't get stuck buying stuff constantly as it feeds into itself. Soon as you get that DB griff built and start slaughtering reds, you'll move up much quicker and need better gear which will take time to gather gold, components and WSPs. Therefore, you say what the hell, I'll buy some Tarans. And then I'll buy a Hover. And then you're short 4,000 components for a dash bot so you by them for $99. And then you realize you're spending hundreds.
It's a pretty standard situation that Pixonic has set up by design. With that warning out of the way...
You should definitely work on Tarans since you have a pair of Orkans. Orkans on Griffs and Tarans on Griffs are hard to beat. As you're moving up, Griffins are tough bots and great value and work well into the top leagues.
