Serious question, even if I will sound very stupid.
What is the point of joining a clan ? I received a few invits but didn't join.
I don't see much advantages TBH, but I see disadvantages : pressure to play or risk of being kicked, risk of being told what to do while fighting (I understand there is in-game communication?), and so on. That's why so far, I just played on my side, and did fine that way.
Somebody to explain me what I obviously miss here ? What would exactly be the advantages of joining a clan in War Robots ?

I guess I could answer with equally silly question: are you usually happy with your random, blue teammates?

Not all clans are serious about this or that, it's more about getting together and having some fun, discussing different bot setups, strategies and battling together. But yes some clans are hardcore, sometimes with feeder clans so you can gain experience before you move up. Some are just like a little family, gathering for fun.
Before you decide research some of the clans listed in this forum.
If you decide not to join one that is fine too.
It's all about what you want out of the game, since the game itself is a long term time investment for some of us and casual for others.
Also I would take the invites as a recognition of a job well done.
Choose wisely young Jedi.

Frankly I'm more or less Ok with my teammates. Sometimes I feel I had good teammates, sometimes not, but it doesn't stop me to do my best anyway. I mean, it goes the other way around too, while I think I do quite well overall, it still happened sometimes that I blew it, and that people may have thought I didn't help them well. I hope (and think) those occurrences were rare, but I'm sure it happened.

Thanks. I played a lot recently but I start to be fine with my hangar so I may slow down a bit. It's a medium hangar compared to most players I face, but I still do quite well overall, so I was just not sure what exactly joining a clan would add to the experience.

It's always a bit of a lottery with reds...like the typical "not so much success story": you are about to engage a target, trying to corner-peek it...and here comes the db "hello" from the new mm....i.e. something with 4...5 weapon level above yours just jumped on you and evaporated that poor pile of metal you were driving, giving you that instant jump-out-of-the-mech experience That can always happen. Thing is that when u team up with some fellas from a decent clan, you know what to expect from blues. No potato tashas, no fight over beacon...instead of that a chance for working in teams of 2-3 bots, applying tactics to expose enemy, proper MR support for knifers, etc. There is also an "advisory" benefit of seasoned players helping you e.g. to balance your hangar. All in all it's worth it as long as you don't get into team that has demands exceeding your way of playing.

Why not try joining a clan to find out? If you don't see the benefit then you can leave at any time. No penalty. Nothing to lose.

You get to pick your teammates and possibly verbally communicate with them (discord, line). Hopefully Pixonic will fix the matchmaking so you don't continue to get penalized for squading by matchmaker (exception in Top Tier where MM penalties are irrelevant). Talking with experienced players on voice comms can be fun and net you a lot of valuable info fast. Send requests to clans you liked fighting with in battle and feel free to try a few to find the right clan for you. Clan members can send each other gifts that give both the giver and receiver bonuses.
However, there are lots of great players who don't join clans and it's totally optional. Once you get a lot of players on your friends list being in a clan becomes less important. I benefited from being in a clan early in the game and in turn helped out newer members once I became an officer.
Finally, some of us like the challenge of starting and building a clan and the sense of comradely and accomplishment in moving up the ranks.
Try to avoid sending clan requests to the top 100 clans - unless you meet the requirements they post. Good Luck!

As someone who used to take pride in only going solo, having recently joined a clan, I can tell you that it has had the following effects on my play:
1) when I play a clan battle I know that my clan mates will see my performance at the end... it adds some extra motivation
2) I don't use Discord or any other chat apps but just knowing that you have teammates that know what they are doing improves your chances for success... After repeat squads, even without speaking, u can define ur rolls.
3) as a 7/7 hangar, I often end up being outclassed, but the overall clan strength is usually equal, so I don't lose over and over again as I might when I'm soloing.
4) no noricums on blue.... Priceless
Just my observations.

Thanks all for your input, it's really an interesting discussion.
Random, you mention we can get bonuses from offering or receiving gifts, could you explain how that works ? Let's say I give a couple of Pins to a friend that starts the game, we both receive a bonus ? Is it a big one (I mean big like 50% of the value of the weapon, or whatever) ? I could understand why a guy would receive a bonus for giving something, but not really why the receiver would receive a bonus also.
In the end I will probably follow B30RLL advice and join a clan. No risk involved. I need to think about that.
And heavypanda, what do you have against Noricums ? It is my favourite setup, I noticed a 3 Noricum on a Leo paired with a Thunder work great ! Ok just kidding here. Having an average hangar (bots level 6, weapons level 6, roughly), I'm afraid joining a clan will make my opposition actually stronger, but like B30RLL said, there is nothing to lose to give it a try.

I tried joining a clan, so I saw the gift thing. Not sure it is very used... could have been nice if some people with plenty of bots or weapons could give some of them to lesser players. For instance at my average level (bots/weapons level 6 roughly), I have a couple of pins/tulumbas that I would have no problem to give to a player starting the game.
Anyway, I left the clan. For now I just don't see the sense... will probably rethink this idea at a later stage. It may make more sense once the league will come... wait and see.
