Gawd, foxy. Ya couldn't have started a new thread? This ones more than a year. Not really. The last thing we need is more of these. We might as well keep BoT Vs War Robots contained in one thread. This one is a particularly good one too with a lot of info.

So...I’ve tried REAL hard to like BoT but I find it largely unplayable. Controls are odd and not as responsive, the weapons controls aren’t exactly intuitive, and the mechs move like they’re old men on walkers. Graphics are kinda kludgy and firefights chaotic. The mechs themselves look like they’ve been recycled from a mid-20th century junkyard. The hangar is a mess, and really, the whole game just is not user friendly. I realize it’s new and all, but it doesn’t come even remotely close to the experience of playing War Robots. I just reinstalled it to see if it had gotten any better since the last time and it actually felt worse than I remembered. At this point, honestly, there’s just no comparison between the two games; BoT just has way too far to go to even enter the same league as War Robots. This. I really enjoyed it for a day or two. Stopped. Went back. Meh. It's too clunky. Too hard to play. Its aiming controls are too difficult for a phone game. It's hard enough to finesse my aim on War Robots. BoT is just a crap shoot. Also, with no enemy damage bar and no concept of damage given or damage received, a huge component of satisfaction in gameplay is lost. I just doesn't suddenly during a fight, or they die. It's sooo cool looking and soooo mehhh to play. THAT was the other thing that I could not put my finger on; no way to tell how much damage was done/life left. Sure, there’s a general thing that pops up with damage count when you shoot a missile but that life bar is a well used feedback device in shoot ‘em up games. I think they may get it together in another year or so. The game still feels beta....

I sort of stopped playing BoT for a while due to having only two maps and the same boring set of mechs. Plus its difficult to control your game's fate due the AI bots around.
But I will say the Robot design of 2018 in any game is the Nelly followed by the Cormorant.
There is no answer to the Nelly that's camping on a high point with Tormentors or those homing missiles what ever you call it. Unless you put up a Mite or another Nelly to go after it.

It’s an awesome game but needs more maps and human players. I agree. I was starting to get tired of playing against bots and getting my legs shot up but then I had two matches with mostly human players and was friggin AMAZING. Both matches went down to the last few seconds and were intense. I am really starting to like my rocket MAO as a 1st drop and mangler Little Shon as a late game mop up or assassin. In one match I had both weapons blown of my Last Stand and jumped in on a Tormenter Nelly to stun it for an ally to try and take it out for 2 points in the last few seconds of a match to tie the game. I stunned it but was killed giving the reds another kill point. The urban desert map is awesome. I could play just that map over and over.

I'll try it and see as I'm on android. Worse case is it doesn't save in which case I would be done with it. Thanks for the replies

The 2.1.3 update dropped on IOS and Android about 16 hours ago with the ai titans more realistic. It’s fun to play them! You should update and retry it out!

Forgot this game was still out there. I tried it again for the second time and still don't like the controls, the user interface in the hangar, and the way the mechs move. Still not even close to War Robots in my opinion. Maybe I'll try again in another year or so.

I may have been one of the 1st to play it. I was hit with a " your client version is out of date" after a match so I uninstalled and downloaded the app again. To my surprise there were light Titans running around and it was hard to tell who was AI and who was not. Definitely an improvement.

1) Give it time to develop. They have plans but it takes time to put all the pieces together, and it’s nice that they are releasing it as a work in progress so people can start enjoying it. So a bit of patience and realistic expectations are appropriate 2) It isn’t War Robots, it is it’s own unique combat experience. You won’t be able to really enjoy it unless you stop comparing, let go of the War Robots experience while playing BoT, and fully immerse yourself in that experience. When you turn on BoT, imagine it’s the first Mech game you’ve ever encountered; try to see it as it’s own thing. 3) Why do people have to be so black and white about it? BoT doesn’t have to replace War Robots, just play whatever you’re in the mood for. 4) TDM will not be the only mode, but for now since it is, if we find it boring it’s because we are not exploring new tactics thoroughly enough. It is also a different experience to work together on tactics with fellow teammates, even being on voice comms. If you only play a little, go solo with low gear, and expect a War Robots experience, it is not surprising if you’re disappointed. 5) There is a growing thriving BoT community committed to having fun and both discussing the game and helping the developers refine the experience. I find it really fun and fulfilling and can see huge potential, especially after reading what the Devs have said about their plans. 6) Just because it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, it doesn’t mean the game itself sucks, since clearly there are many who enjoy it immensely, so haters should just play something else instead of BoT bashing. Honestly I think BoT is better than War Robots, I like the simplicity of the game it feels like War Robots when it first came out before they added all the silly boosts and powers and made every mecha like every other mecha. BoT is more strategic and I love the graphics, it's a simple, sit on your porcelain throne and play kind of game.

I imagine everyone’s heard all they want out of me re: BoT, but maybe I can say some different things this time. For one thing, the differences between the games is like the differences between car camping and wilderness camping. They aren’t the same, and they don’t appeal to the same crowds. The two games are both annoying, just differently annoying, and for someone moving into BoT from War Robots, the learning curve is steep and long - and very real. They are very different games, despite the similarities.
I’ve played more than 1100 games in BoT these last six months, and I don’t play it much anymore...the reason is the unreasonable lag time between me and the server, which is in Russia. as much fun a it is to squad, I play solo so I don’t drag down a team of better and more mobile players, though my play is not exclusively bad. Lately, I’ve been playing much more War Robots, not because the game is pleasing me more, but because I’m fighting Pix and the game itself as much I am the red team, and I’ve learned some things, and done some things, that have made recent games far less infuriating than War Robots has been historically. And as bad as the lag is, it seems to affect EVERYONE, and not just me, so I just plain care less about in War Robots.
The more you expect BoT to “be like” War Robots, the more disappointed you’re liable to be: the play itself is VERY different, and I found it frustrating and off-putting at first. Some people find the gear tiers and mix&match upgrades to be infuriating, but I’ve come to think of it as one of the best parts of the game - and far preferable to the infinite grind and expense of gear improvement in War Robots. War Robots’s “matchmaking” is stupefyingly worse than BoT dumb and clunky MM.
My advice if you’re going to play BoT is, take an actual break from War Robots, and play A LOT of BoT - give yourself a chance to find the rhythm of the game, and the sense behind the upgrades.
Remember too that BoT is being developed along an e-sports metaphor, not as a money heist, and that really matters: it’s not “Blast ‘Em, Blossom”!
Okay, I’m done.

Remember too that BoT is being developed along an e-sports metaphor, not as a money heist, and that really matters: it’s not “Blast ‘Em, Blossom”! Okay, I’m done. I have actually been playing Bot these last couple of weeks. Like it for the simplicity of the game. Think it was you that told me to “take a hundred or so games to get the feel of it”. I agree whole heartedly. Got about 120 games under my belt and feel like I have a better idea of how to play. There are differences, sure. Like not knowing where the other team is all the time. But at least you can shoot at the other robots whenever you see them. Bot don’t have magical abilities. That is a nice change of pace and more realistic too. I like it enough to throw the devs some dough this month. Just gotta have that bully! Hope they take some of that money to develop another map or two. It needs it badly. Not sure I’ve experienced lag playing it. At least not to pix’s level lag. Thought that was nice too. Another small thing is the starting music and Mech sounds. They are cool enough that I will use my headphones to get the fully immersed experience.

I still play BoT occasionally, mostly to sit in that space. The ambiance and feel of it is lovely and gritty and natural; it makes WRs physics look like Pac-Man. There’s 2 problems I have with it though, mainly the aiming point. They put it in the very center of the screen instead of midway between the top of my robot and the top of the screen which is where I want it. Being in the center of the screen I have to keep looking up towards the sky to aim at targets. The other problem I have that’ll probably fix itself with experience is that the beacons don’t have any structure or bounds. It’s just an area and an icon that disappears.
Other than that I really like BoT because it reminds me more of what drew me to War Robots in 2016 than the War Robots of now. An immersive 3D world I can move through and shoot things, and strategy is based on positioning. And the physics in BoT is so much more incredible, I want to play more but that aim position throws me.
