War Robots sent me 4800 gold for me to "catch up" because they "miss me". Now, my iOS account has 5376 gold. What should I do with them? I have 4 slots, with a Pinata/Tulum Griff (wanted to put on Orkans but then cannot afford), PDB Griff, Thunder/Punisher Natasha *for some reason), and a Thunder/Pinata Leo. But I kinda want a Lance since I have an Ancile too.

Yup, same thing happened for me when I came back. I was at 4885 Au then it shoved me up to 9685 Au.
Bought 5th slot, then wasted all my gold on the Storm for my Cossack.

If you asked six months ago I would say 5th slot without second thought. Now I think it's a bit different.
While one more bot in your hangar will increase your versatility and survival chances, IMO you will be forced to more supportive roles if you lack the resources to fill the extra slot with one of the tried and tested CQC/Midrange/Sniper setups - but particularly CQC. Think bots like RDB, Punisher Griffin, Molot Griffin, etc. The only exception being a PDB, which is reasonably obtainable for a F2P player. Your progression will seem to slow down as a result.
That said, I'd consider these:
- 5th slot. But be prepared to assume supportive roles, which may be okay with you. From time to time I run support bots exclusively. It is a nice change of pace.
- Orkans. A DB Griffin remains a great F2P bot. If you learn how to use it, it will remain in your hangar for a long time.
- Lancelot. You can't go wrong here either. Put the Ancile on with a couple Tarans and you have a very unique support bot, with reasonable power and excellent survivability.
Honestly, anything you choose is ok. It all comes down to your playstyle, and eventually if you stay long enough you will try all af them.

Does anyone have an approximate table of:
how long you need to be absent from the game x amount of gold you get?
Edit: OP didn't say how long he has been away from the game to get 4.8k gold.

Get the 5th slot. It will open up a whole new world of possibilities for you, and it will allow you to play more aggressively. With 4 slots, you have to play a bit more defensively, but with the 5th you can play really aggressive with one or two brawlers.

Turns out I bough a single Orkan to complete my first DB Griffin. It outputs a boatload of damage until it suddenly doesn't.
