Hi Guys, This morning I bought 1150 keys for $9.99 and used an excel spreadsheet to determine the value of my haul based on current pricing for these components and resources. Here is the info. I'm planning on running either a back to back test, or a comparison with the Silver chests (only, I will be 50 keys short of a 12th Silver Chest). What would you like to see? Please keep in mind that when calculating the value of Ag, I had to use the price for Au and then convert.
All spins were single spins, no speeding things up. Outside of components, keys, Au & Ag, I also won 1 x Nashorn.
Item Components Before Components After Delta Value in $ Scourge 7460 7690 230 $1.92 Hover 7380 7540 160 $0.89 Kumiho 3312 3317 5 $0.13 Storm 1255 2755 1500 $2.40 Shock Tr. 2460 2620 160 $1.78 Haechi 1930 1965 35 $0.88 Bulgasari 1417 1502 85 $2.13 Inquisitor 720 786 66 $2.20 Ember 503 633 130 $2.17 Tempest 130 290 160 $1.33 Au 2,472 2524 52 $0.52 Ag 11,038,915 11,490,915 452,000 $2.26
Total Value $18.59

Interesting. How did you price the components? And at least personally for me 452k Ag are worth close to nothing, as that's the return of a single won game with premium.
So it seems marginal, maybe the return on components is slightly higher than buying them outright, but then it's completely random which ones you get. So actually, a much heavier discount would be in order.
Bottom line for me: Don't buy keys and spin them on Bronze chests. For free Bronze chests, they payout is decent, though.

Good Lord... you opened them 1 by 1??? EEEK! There is a HUGE premium in doing that, as in entertainment value.. Put another $8.49 in value return there as well.... lol... just sayin.. Game economics aka PIXonomics

Kudos for doing them 1 by 1. I'd like to see you do fifty at a time to see if there is any premium one way or another.

Remember that you cannot acquire a specific equipment this way.
When you go to the supermarket, it's not hard to find discounted goods coming in bundles or buy X get 1 free. Case is similar here.
A theoretical higher monetary value does not implies it's a good offer, unless you are sure that you are needing all of them.

Good Lord... you opened them 1 by 1??? EEEK! Yes, I have a theory that speeding things up reduces the chances of better content. I haven't proven this yet, but based on my experience with the black market it feels that way. I will run some more tests to compare after Christmas.

Hey buddy, well I work all day in spreadsheets and formulas but here is a quick example.
For example, the Scourge. you take 5/600 ($5.00 / 600 components) to arrive at 0.008333 cents per component. Yes it is actually $4.99 but I rounded up by 1 cent. So in the example above, I won 230 Scourge components before my keys ran out. 230 * 0.008333 = $1.92 in value.
Yes, it is completely random and I do not recommend this as the best way to obtain components. For example, shortly after this I opened a Super chest and won like 9600 Tempest Components...I already had 4...

Total value is $0. It's just pixels.
I'm not surprised by the difference though. I seem to get storm a lot. However, now I'm closer to 6000 (never bought the bundle - just from bronze spins) I guess that'll change to something else.
Edit: What does surprise me is the Kumiho rolls, of the component rolls, that one appears much higher for me.
