Not only 4-medium-slot-bots are going to be around. I think with weapons there's something going on aswell.
The Storm for example is classified as a medium weapon, but it has the firepower and upgrade costs of a heavy weapon (Thunder). Gust could be similar. Light slot, but higher firepower and higher upgrade costs. Pix could even end up giving Gust a high firing rate that will result in the same 10 second damage output as Thunder/Storm. Since these weapons are really only effective up close, they wouldn't shake up the meta. I actually like the idea for shotguns a lot. Vityaz, Patton, Leo, Golem...they would be very useful point blank range platforms for taking and holding beacons. In the open they'd be scrap metal as usual.
The weapons slot size could end up no longer being an indicator for general firepower of a weapon or a build. Shocktrain is another example for heavy slot damage output from planet medium. I think Storms upgrade costs are a clear signal that this weapon is actually a heavy weapon on a medium slot.
Will upgrade costs be the new indicator for how weapons will be classified in the firepower department? Will this make vintage bots too powerful? Will the future include light weapons with heavy firepower? I mean, we already have the opposite - heavy weapons with light firepower. Zenit for example...lol
