If somebody leaves a game, lock them out from finding another game until that original game ends.
The end.
If the player hit the return to hangar button because of connection error, they are still allowed to find another game. Only if they click 'leave' they are stuck waiting.
Another idea. If a player wants to submit defeat, there should be a button that admits defeat. This is added to their stats, and they can immediately find another game.
Finally another ultumate idea. If a player leaves, they automatically obtain a loss even if their blue team won without them Because I already know that is utter bull?poo-poo?.

Why should a player submit defeat? If a newbie gets classed with higher level players, he doesn't recieve another defeat, he gets a submitted defeat. So he never really loses as a result of a matchmaking mishap.
Also, if a player does mech out and is forced to watch the game, that is the way it should be. If he leaves before the game is over, even if he is finished, he should have to watch the game to get the win, because it sets an example watching your team fight to the end. It also influences the player to fight more responsibly, instead of rashly. The pilot learns other players strategies and technique instead of ignoring them.

To stop tanking, a submitted defeat would have no impact on league rating.
Now this sounds like it can be abused, but keep in mind the tanker would have a giant, obvious red flag on their profile.
In theory a player could stay in Champion leage indefinitely (by submitting defeat anytime they were guaranteed to lose), but keep in mind the red flag lol. I have no idea why somebody would be afraid of accepting a deserved loss and negative rating. That is the meaning of the league system, to match you sonewhat fairly...
Since you could submit defeat over and over, it should also effect your win%. This way a tanker's stats look even more pathetic, but without any change to their league rating there is no change to their matchmaking.
Yes, it would be an entirely new stat such as:
Wins 875
Losses 789
Cry Uncles 9001

Pixonic is obviously ignoring their (tankers) malicious practices in exchange for their generous donations.
Personally I spent $45 on Au last year's end holiday because I had spent a generous amount of time on the game already and I wanted a Xmas present. I bought that Gary, and Orkan, and I even paid the silver to get him rolling. My lv10 hangar kept me dry.
Frankly I've had more fun coming from my high level apple account (I was Expert 3 right after that update, then left) since restarting on Android.
I'm already 1400+ rating and my highest level weapon is still 5. I see the tanking. I get these 'gold' players in my matchmaking that shouldn't be there. I give it a shot anyway.
But in a perfect world, I'd bet the userbase as a whole would donate their tens and twenties if Pixonic listened to their requests, and they'd be ten times as wealthy.
The end.
