Why has powercreep become so prominent in this game nowadays? A long time ago, new bots and weapons that were released were pretty well balanced, but now, it seems like the new bots and weapons that get released are just superior to the old ones. Ex: The britbots kinda made the rhino irrelevant, and the dashbots made them irrelevant. Weapons like ember, tempest, shocktrain, scourge, and other stuff make the majority of medium and heavy weapons pretty much useless too. Pixonic should slow down the powercreep now, or else new players will probably quit, because they think unless they spend hundreds they'll have no chance. A lot of people already feel this way about the dashbots, so imagine what will happen when the bots that make the dashes irrelevant come out with some new currency that's even more expensive than components....

There has to be an incentive for players to buy them. If everything is balanced and the old bots can perform just as good as the newer ones, then many people won't buy them. If you want to see how it works, just play it on the test server. No need to spend major bucks for it. Back then, everyone was running noricum/kang dae natashas. When plasma weapons came out, everyone started using those instead and noricums, zenits, nashorns, kang daes became irrelevant. Brit bots came out and the natashas became irrelevant. Smart reloading rocket update and the brit bots with the exception of lancelot became irrelevant. Now ember and dashes. There will always be something better to replace the old so they can make money. People buy the dash bots because it give them an edge over others who don't. If everything was balanced, we would probably see a lot less dashes around.

Maybe making new bots that are special because of their abilities? The hover was a good start; it was affordable, and not OP

The other reason to buy new bots is that they offer some tactical advantage under some situations. This adds variety to the game. So you eant rockets and plasma, for example. Add in ballistics for shield penetration. Add homing missles for heavy cover maps.
The dash bots are different, but they are also OP. That's why champion players are running 3-5 of them. They run other bots only to use the new OP heavy weapon (ember) or, thankfully, one of the gold weapons (zeus).
New stuff doesn't have to be better in all circumstances. It has to offer something unique enough to be interesting.
Finally, when the brit bots were introduced, they cost gold. Players could earn a lancelot in about 2-3 months just by playing a few games a day. People could buy a rhino just for logging in once a day for a month. I am about halfway to a Haechi after slowly spending around 50k wsp. But I need 3 to be competitive. I would need 6-9 shockwaves to be competitive, frankly. How long would that take? Now the "best" players in the game have spent the most money. They may have talents in other areas of their lives that earn then high salaries, have been born into a lot of wealth, or just have incredibly imbalanced priorities. But we really have no way of knowing if they are actually good at the game. I'm sure some of them are very talented at the game, but it's really hard to tell. I suspect many of them are not.

Eventually the cheap ?bum-bum? mobile game player base, combined with the Devs insatiable need for capital, results in the selling power and influence in their game to the small demographic that spends money on their game. Sucks, that's life. If one thinks a guy on the street, playing his songs by request, will keep taking those requests from the dude who never throws him a dime, well you know how it goes when the guy with a dollar wants his favorite tune.
