Hey guys I am fortunate enough to get a new phone tomorrow to replace my note5.
I am torn between the note8 and pixel 2 XL. I play wrr exclusively on my phone. I am all ears on feedback from you guys if you have either device.
Cheers!

The Note 8 and Pixel 2 XL are both flagship devices. The Snapdragon 835 is more than powerful for War Robots. Of course, you also want a smartphone. The Pixel 2 XL has a great rear camera and selfie camera, and can do blurry portraits without dual camera. The screen is good, but it's nowhere near the AMOLED display on the Note 8. The Note 8 has good cameras and excellent screen, but also has an S-pen. If you enjoy the S-pen on the Note 5, the Note 8 should be good. Maybe you want to try stock Android, the Pixel 2 XL is also a good phone, but the price is a bit high for what you're getting. The Note 8 also has a Micro SD card slot and a headphone jack.
Overall, I would shift towards the Note 8 with more features, especially if you can get a bundle, but both are powerful enough and are great smartphones in general. The S9 should come out in January.

My contract expires next July and I'm looking forward to the LG V30. Nothing against Samsung... just time for a change in brand...
The Note 8 was on my radar. Read some reviews....there's tons out there. One thing to note is the positioning of the fingerprint scanner on the Note 8. It's beside the camera, which can be awkward.

Note 8, cheaper and a lot better, and most importantly, it has a headphone jack AND a micro SD card slot.

In some countries you can get a 200GB SD for free, included in the box, here what I am, you get a power bank and a wireless charger included, Sammy is generous I guess lol, unlike Google, they don't even include type C headset.

The note8 is tempting and i like the s-pen feature on my note5 but when the s-pen spring breaks 5x in the two years I have had it that adds up to $150 worth of s-pens.
I agree the fingerprint sensor is poorly placed but the display is nicer. Imo the pixel 2 xl has a better fingerprint sensor, camera and the stereo speakers are nice.
I live in canada and can get a note8 tomorrow for $199 upfront less $160 for my trade-in of my note5. So essentially costing me $40 for the note8. The pixel 2 xl would be $249 less $160 on my trade-in so $99. The note8 is effectively cheaper.

I just recently got the Pixel 2 XL and I like it so far. I'm also switching from iOS so my main comparison is iPhone 6 Plus. I tried Samsung and HTC in the past and did not like either.
As others have said though, both are flagship devices that provide for differing wants. Best thing you can do is figure out the things you use your device for that are most important to you and go from there. Both devices are more than capable of running War Robots perfectly fine.

And if you buy One+ directly from them, you save a few hundred...
In todays android era i see no point paying more than 400-500 for phone, without gaming even less. If you must have iOS, then yes.

That's a pretty good deal... we don't get many freebies up here... My son said that one of his friends' dad got a bunch of iPhone X's somehow and he was gonna sell my son one for $20. I told him it was probably a joke. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Still, my son said that he could buy that for me for Christmas... lol. I said that if he did, that would make me stop being an Android fanboy and jump on the IOS bandwagon. I'd previously said i would never buy another IOS device for myself. hahaha. Still, my son has been after me to give him my MacBook Pro to use instead of the Linux Mint laptop I gave him. LOL, if he does get me an iPhone X, I guess I kinda HAVE to give him my Mac! As for the Pixel vs the Note 8. Personally, even though I want to change brand cause I've been using Samsung for so many years, I have to admit, they've got the best deal so far. They understand that people aren't quite ready to give up some of the basic necessities like wired headphones and expandable storage quite yet. That's why I have my eye on the LG V30 for when my contract is up next year. Similar specs to the Note 8, a bit less RAM, cheaper starting price point so by next July, I should be able to pick it up for cheaper, plus my S7 should net me a decent exchange credit. But between the Pixel and Note 8? I'd go for the Note 8.

Buy the OnePlus 5t. It just came out. Not only will it save you a lot of dough, you will have a phone that can outpace the expensive flagships in some areas since it shares a lot of their hardware and uses an almost stock Android.

The OnePlus 5T is a nice phone, however it's got a smaller screen than the Note 8 (6 vs 6.3in), no S-Pen (may not matter for OP), won't work for some CDMA carriers (notably Verizon and Sprint), and carriers don't offer discounts or promos since you have to buy it directly from the manufacturer/seller. That being said, at both full price the OnePlus is far cheaper for same specs and build quality. Also, it runs stock Android (may or may not matter for OP), but it doesn't ship with Oreo and Project Treble so it's not really of much benefit over what the Note 8 runs.

I used to want a OnePlus phone. I really liked the specs. But I think on the new one, they took away the SD card slot...that's a deal breaker for me.

See if you can get the Razer phone.120 Hz gaming glory That 120hz is kind of a gimmick on a phone. First off, the GPU can't really render 120hz at the 1440p resolution, and many games have 60hz frame caps as well.

I like the raw android OS much better than Samsungs reskinned touchwiz android front end. I had a couple of galaxy phones before getting nexus 6P and the raw android is so much nicer. I suppose it all comes down to personal preference too.
