So I have been stuck, almost literally in Elite 3 for nearly two months now. Occasionally I get to Elite 2 and ALMOST made Elite 1 but lately I just get 「female dog」 slapped once I reach Elite 2. When I say 「female dog」 slapped I mean I find myself paired with Elite or lower, mostly lower, and facing 5 champions with serious gear. I get smashed a few games in a row until I have learned my humble place and start my itsy bitsy spider climb again.
The interesting thing is in Elite 3 on iOS I have been finding players that are my speed or that I out class. You see in my foolish desire to reach Champion I have upgraded all my bots and weapons to compete and achieve greatness.;-) So I built up my Hangar with primarily the Brit Bots and a Rogatka. ALL are Lvl 12 and all or most weapons are 11 or higher NO MK 2's! Don't care for them but if they work for you great. (Note I started in April of this year when Lancelot's rules and Dash bots where just a pipe dream, I will dub those the 'Happy Times'.)
Also I should point out that I am a F2P pilot so I have no RM in the game. I take what I can get and whatever I can win from the events and watch what Pix does with its world. Who am I to say otherwise right. But I have been reading the posts concerning tanking and issues with MM and I read somewhere that Pix has this 'Invisible Wall' that you hit if you have not gone the P2W route. In other words you cannot achieve Champion without not having paid. For the record I have no idea if that is true but I am experiencing a violent MM whenever I get higher than Elite 2 as stated.
All this is fine by me as I really don't want to get to Master or Champion where I will be blown out of my socks regularly. The occasional beat down works just fine for me. However I don't tank and I don't have to, Pix takes care of that for me.
But Why???
It is clear to me from all the posts that the vast majority of players do NOT want to stay in Champion hence the tanking. Sure touch the Champion flag and say you've been there but not many want to live there, so again they tank downward.
This is why Pix is announcing and initiating a bonus point system as an incentive to go for and stay in Champion and NOT tank. So why would they spend time MM'ing an invisible wall? I get the logic of either of these on their own but when faced against each other they seem to be at odds.
Next point - Whales. EVERY app game needs whales and I do not lament them as they pay where F2P's do not. Sure they unbalance the game but that's the point of the incentive to provide OP weapons and bots and let them use them on targets like F2P's. Pix needs both. Whales to buy OP weapons and F2P pilots to use them on. If EVERYONE were a whale well PIX would win big over a very short time frame but the game would have died out a long time ago. It is the myriad of bots and weapons and levels that makes the game interesting. The whales IMHO are pretty dull and cut from a similar cloth as are their hangars. "Oh what works...oh that works. Okay lets all build and do the same thing." I'm good with that if it makes you happy and lets face it you're paying for it so I'm happy for you.
Okay so what is my point here?
If this is true than perhaps the way to beat the Tank is to find a league you like and stop paying for anything. Pix will use the MM to keep you in place and you can have fun with bots and weapons that are more or less where you want them to be. Yes you will not be a champion or even a master but you may have fun when you log in.
Pix needs whales and there will ALWAYS be whales but they need targets just as much. Big guns without things to shoot at aren't much fun and if EVERYONE has BFG's then that gets old real fast too. Imagine and I don't mean to be insulting to anyone, that if the deer started shooting back at hunters that sport would certainly experience a down turn.
I personally love the game it's very addicting but I like it for the unique matches and the combats. The thrill of the fight in other words. I still play events and you better believe I want a Haechi but I'm willing to grind for it.
Anyway with all the chatter I thought I would share some of my observations with you in hopes that a few of you may find peace in the same way.
Good luck and Happy Hunting.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced the same thing or I'm just smoking bad crack again...it happens sometimes;-)
