Been on Walking War Robots for about 6 mth; been having a great time, it's been a "WHILE" since the last time I gamed online. Saw some posts regarding C64 and modems, yup I can relate. First person in my college building to network the 'faculty' computers to DOOM- it was mind blowing gaming.
I love the tactics that are created by this game environment; just the right tempo to develop and plan without getting bogged down by a turn based approach.
Super cool , looking forward to blasting with you people!
Cheer,

Heh C64 was one of the very few machines I've never touched, but I do remember writing assembler for Z80 kit (followed by input via hexadecimal keyb. lol) which was even older than 64 I guess. My 1st PC came with Wolfenstein, while my most memorable match ever was a session of Quake (No. 1) I did with my friend, sitting back-2-back, on 2 PCs connected with com-cable (a small "network" indeed)...game was with some extra bots "all on all", with 1000 frag target...and so we did...1k kills in 1 session. Map was small, time was plenty....eyes were sore for hours if not days A for War Robots I hope they will manage to make it more like a classic Mechwarrior...there was more ways to win or loose there. Good to know I'm not the only dinosaur here

lots of burned code through loss of data; it was a zenith system around the late 70's (approximate) it was a younger me back then. No worry now; iPads rock!

But Zenith Z100 was a complete PC, based on 8088 processor, a bit of a predecessor of XT line. What I meant was zilog Z80 which is just a microprocessor - a thing even few years older, although I was fighting it in late 90s. It was a base for e.g. ZX spectrum, but the way I used it was a very coarse board, a processor kit. No display other than LEDs Program was being entered manually, with a hexadecimal code. I'm so happy I almost forgot it by now...a true nightmare.
