... that you wouldn't have been caught dead using before the mass rebalancing and the advent of the P2W bots/weapons? (The Fury Zeus thread by Deadeye got me thinking about this... since I had stopped using it before the current shift but have enjoyed it since putting it back in.) If so... what? And why? Personally, I have. I have stopped caring about the hate because they are actually proving effective... more than they used to be... anyway. 2 types that I would never use, I either have used recently and plan to upgrade (Hydras/Spirals) or have them high enough to use as-is on the right bot (Gekkos) Gekkos are pretty powerful now. They are not OP because there are several counters and certain maps keep them from shining... but they are nice when you have a Haechi dashing to and fro across the map, capping beacons and causing havoc. They allow you to get a decent amount of damage in before the Red is close enough to wipe you off of the map. On a Leo with a Zeus, I have had some great games as long as I am not going against 6 dashes all at once. I have considered putting a Thunder on it for when things get close since I do my damnedest to use them from long ranges and dashes close so quickly that Zeus isn't always the right call. But for now, Zeus compliments it better than the traditional Treb, for my playstyle anyway. Hydras are just better than they used to be. Buffed into relevance. Sure, they have always served a purpose... but not always has that purpose actually been good enough to warrant a hangar slot. Now they do a good chunk of damage and are very hard to get away from unless you have Ancile or Physical shield protection. Dashes are just as susceptible to them as any other bot and Hydras/Spirals can help mitigate their presence... especially against Kumiho. Ofc, Ancilots and Haechis are usually not worried about them and prove to be a good counter. Both builds are easily counter-able... but have provided me with a bit more entertainment again as a lot of folks have begun to leave the counters to one or the other, behind. What about y'all? Anything that you wouldn't use before that the current meta has put into your hangar? Thanks for reading and, as always.... IMO, YMMV

Not a weapon but maybe still relevant (and not quite so extreme as "wouldn't be caught dead in". The Fujin!
I would run one with some weapon variation ofter enough, but it was always understood (me to myself, lol) that it was the weak link in whatever hangar I was running. Now, I've picked up and am leveling a second one! The speed/health buff have been nice (wish they woulda buffed the animation time of deactivating the shield too), but they're as decent a counter as any to an Orkan Haechi.
I know this one has been brewing for a while, but Punishers see a regular spot in my hangar now as well, whether Punisher Griff or Thunder Punisher Leo.

Punishers. Never used 'em before the buffs. Now I run a Punisher Griff, as a staple. Not too much else has changed for me. I tended towards heavy bots with short ranges. My current hangar has a DB Bulg, DB Griff, PDB Griff, RDB Griff, and a Punisher Griff.

I've been wanting to have a powerhouse Punisher Griffin loadout for some time now, just that I don't wanna pour resources into building that just yet.
They are effective as hell especially with the shield multiplier..
Whenever I see teammates with punisher griffins I'm like.. Wow... Whenever I see a punisher griffin coming at me I'm like.. 「fluffernutter」...

The RDB. It used to be a staple of my hangar, and I ran two of them for quite a while, but now it just isn’t effective for me anymore. It may just be because they aren’t leveled up enough, but even so, I still find the gameplay very tedious. I own a Zeus carnage now as my midranger, so I don’t have much need to bring it back.

I'm glad the thread got you thinking ⓣⓡⓘⓒⓚⓨ48. This forum's always done that for me.
I recently leveled up a full set of punishers almost to max (one mkII is maxed and the others are at 11), but I was running it on a Rhino and didn't like it. I told myself I needed to run the griff variant, but I haven't given it another chance yet. I heard Stew Pendous say the optimal ranges are between 350-500 m and as close as freaking possible. I will need to run it on the Griff and change my playstyle to get a sense of the full effect, but I'm sure it is coming.
Another build I've been running to great effect lately is the old hellfire Rhino build (orkans and magnums). I'm still getting used to it, but the speed buff made it hard to ignore the efficacy of a Rhino now. It's becoming a favorite of mine and the Rhino's only at lvl 10 (The weapons are maxed so that helps a lot since I surprise people more often than not. It is highly susceptible to getting DB ambushed, but I'm still working on my battle awareness. It's shines on the Valley/Temple map with all those corridors making great cover.
Great Thread!

Had to think about this one and I'd say Hydras.
They used to be just annoying. Now they're annoying and deadly.

I'm thinking of running punishers again. I've been so in love with orkans that I'm running almost all orkans in my hangar. I need to change it up a bit. I just tried a taran/punisher Galahad and did surprisingly well with it. It sucks that the shield breaks so much faster now, but it is what it is. I think I might try the leadhose next.

Wow, that's another good one...I wish I had a dang Tempest to test it out on. I'm much better at assessing these things when I get to use them.
My guess is that it will fare very well in coordinated squad play, but I think it would be very susceptible to rocket fire and dashes that close ground quickly and that have relatively small cross-sections for the spread of the bullets. That might make it a tad unforgiving. I think my Rhino punisher build didn't work well because it couldn't retreat like a griffin behind that 350 m boundary. I suspect you would run into similar problems. I'd still love to try it out.

I got all my guns to 11, but everytime I put the bullet hose in the game, I'm underwhelmed and immediately switch it out. Seems like it takes too much time to do lethal damage, all the while the Griff is (usually) exposed. Seems like a PDB Griff would do more damage, although Puns do shred physical shields must faster. Maybe the key is getting all guns to 12; maybe that extra level on each gun makes a big difference. Aside: I've tried a Pun - Tempest Lance (Tempest L9) but again, didn't think it did enough damage to the oppo while my Lance is exposed. I also tried L11 Puns on the Ancilot, but quickly go back to Tarans.

The Kang Dae for me. The Trebs were too flashy and are a dead giveaway that you're a sniper. With the Kang Dae, I can chip away at the reds every 15s and take out about half of their health before they realize whose hitting them. (The concept of snipers is to stay hidden right?)
True that the Kang Daes are not as great as Nashorns but that 6 second difference means little to me when you're in a slow bot and have to try to find a target. I spend that much time just waiting for a target to pop up anyway.
I've never would have thought about using the Kang Daes until now but thanks to the recent buffs, I gave it a shot and did decent damage with just stock level. Had way more fun than a Treb. Imo, Ymmv.

This is gonna seem pretty 'duh' but my mind has changed about Orkans.
For the longest time, I wasn't that interested in them because it sounded like such a pain that you had to get within 300 meters to fire on somebody. Then I got a Rog and put a pair of level 9 Orks on it. Holy firetruck...everything about them is cool. That whoosh/whizz - whooshizz? - sound effect, the massive damage, the 'oh 「dookie」' panic they induce in reds. Wish I'd gotten them sooner.
Always been a huge fan of Punishers. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Been running them on a Galahad since around the time I hit Gold league and they, and the bot, are still holding up strong in D3/2. With Punishers, I fear nothing but RDBs and other machine gunners.
One weapon - or weapon set, technically - that I've been vacillating on is the Tempests/Molots.
Loved them at first, especially a Tempest/Molot Leo. Felt like a toe-tagging beast, putting down bot after bot from 600-700 meters while taking barely a scratch. But I started slowly changing my mind, as I kept coming up against their main weakness: lack of ammo. Yeah, I could shred...except it took a while and usually two or three cycles, which is a lifetime in War Robots. Eventually all my Molot-types got retired.
My enthusiasm flared again - briefly - when I got the idea to put two Tempests and two Mk1s on a Natasha. But again, it was the same problem. For 70 rounds, it would shred. Then the mags would run dry, and I'd be standing with my thumb in my 「bum-bum」 for 10 seconds waiting for a reload of not enough bullets.
The Molot-types went back into mothballs.
This last update, however, may convince me to change my mind and bring them back out yet again. They got a buff that seems to more than compensate for the low bullet count. Every time some red opens up with a Tempest or a Molot, I swear it feels like it only takes a few bullets to tear my 「bum-bum」 up. No more thinking, 'meh, I can absorb a few while I finish off this other guy.' Now, I hear that first ping, I'm running for cover.
I'm definitely curious to bring them back out for one more chance.

One of the first weapons I hard leveled with a pair of Zeus's. I ran a Zeus Carny for so long. When they re-worked the rocket mechanism to what it once was, I shelf'ed him for my RDB. Now a days, I am seeing more Fury Zeus's and I have to say I am very impressed with the damage of what that thing can do and how viable it is even with the slow speed of the Fury. The is at the TT play of course but dang, 3 of them in cycle, wow. If they can make that work on a small map, impressed.
Also I was always hesitant about doing molot and tempest builds because I heard the cycle is very short as opposed to the duration of punishers for example. To me the damage offsets it on the tempest especially and any build with 2 or more of those things, you can really impose your will and give a team proper LR support.
After the Gecko buff I thought it was just a quick fad and it would go away quick. But man, they still hurt and those lasers can really be effective if used correctly by a good LR player.
My 0.02 on a few weapons in response to your thread.

I've switched out my DB Griffin for now because I'm climbing league points too fast. I'll miss out on the Gold for wins, but I don't want to get any close to D2 right now. My Griffin is 7, and my punishers are mostly at 7. I have 1 mk1 at 8. So, like you, I was initially underwhelmed. A PDB DOES do more damage. But, you cannot play a leadhose like a PDB. A PDB is a hunter/killer. Find a target and pound it till it dies or you die. A leadhose is a flanker/supporter. Where is shines is catching prey out in the open at the 350 - 400m mark. Yes, it does more damage closer, but then you're in PDB range and possibly DB range. It's also great at picking off weak bots. I was on Springfield and I fired across the ravine to the centre beacon and picked off 3 crippled reds in a row. Pew, pew pew. That was fun. It's also a great Ancilot killer too. Keep the Ancilot at 350 and beyond and just pound it. It's ancile is nowhere as strong as a Fujin, so you'll get to the meat with decent ammo left to start chewing up the shield, or get some lucky shots to the underarms.

I leveled up a set of punishers equal to the rest of my hangar (level 10) and I just can not get the hang of them. DB, plasma both more deadly, rdb more deadly at range. This isn't to say that I haven't done some good things with them from time to time, they are just not a consistent performer for me so they are languishing - which is pretty horrible for a month worth of upgrade time and silver.
