First, a little history.
I'm a working stiff, not a rich man. I don't have a lot of spare time, because I volunteer a lot. I picked this game up about 11 months ago and play casually, keeping my head above water and growing and experimenting with my hangar. I've slowly been getting better at the game, and against my better judgement, occasionally dropped some of my hard earned cash. Into the game. I really would think about my purchases, picking up gold weapons and bots because I can't spend the time to farm gold. I've laid down quite a bit of cash, I estimate $680 total. I'm a bit ashamed of that, because all this ?poo-poo? is imaginary, but I try to look at it by how much it costs me to play per hour.
Once the lottery system came out, I blew 80 bucks to try and get some of the WW bots. I came up empty handed. All I got were weapons and bots I already had. That sucked.
But I kept playing. I do like my hangar, although the bots and weapons I spent money on, which I hoped would be part of a long-lasting meta. Well... They've been losing relevance, update by update. But I kept playing.
And I'm getting better. Beacon Rush has been fun and different. My hangar has adapted well to that, and I've grown from Gold 2 to Diamond 2.
My perspective completely changed today.
After spending $680 over the last 11 months, I just had a whale completely wipe the floor with my face. A player with L12 inquisitor with L12 zues/scourges ran through my formerly-expensive orkancilot like tissue paper. Looking at his hangar later, I saw he had a maxed out tempest fury, maxed Orkan haeichi, maxed scourge Zeus Lance, and maxed tempest fury.
So that sucked.
But then I go into the game to try and see what it would take to get a level up bot or two like that. HOLY @#$&.
So this is the way it ends, Pixonic. My old purchases are worthless. I'm not a rich man. I don't have time to grind. And now I'm the guy who spent money, but not enough to compete. Realistically, the good stuff is inaccessible to me.
?firetruck? you, Pixonic. This new system of getting isn't fun. You changed the game after you accepted my money. I'm getting a refund from Google and I gladly quit.

I sympathize. I'm on iOS, but I got similarly pasted tonight by a whale or tanker or whatever -- something that didn't belong in my game. Tonight was one of those nights where even the few wins weren't fun. I was kind of just along for the ride while the heavyweights slugged it out. I've been trying really hard to just enjoy the game no matter how it plays out, but I still find myself spewing streams of profanities at it more often than not. I really don't know how long I'll last, but I can say that the only reason I'm still playing is because of the few hundred in RM I've spent in it. That's only going to go so far.
I wish you luck. Hopefully you'll find another time-waster that's as fun as this one used to be.

You know what? Do me and everyone a favor. Go to the Apple App store or Google Play, put a one star rating then submit a review. You can copy what you said there in your post and paste it as your review.

Also sad to see you go man. I sincerely wish you the best. I’m frustrated that Pix is alienating much of their player base, simple players like yourself who just want to compete at a fairly level playing field without spending the world. On the plus side, this can be a real positive for many of us. Let’s be honest, most of us could afford to inject more of our time into real life activities that really mean something to others. Perhaps this turn of events is just the motivation we need

All the best to you Sir, a lot of us are working adults and we have our work and family to attend to. I share your frustration on the " spending yet not receiving" part, a lot of players here feel the same way too. Your decision to drop War Robots is respected, and we hope you'll be able to find another game to pass your extra free time. In the meantime, kudos to you that you do a lot of volunteer work, you have my respect. Take this break to give more time to your volunteer work and family. And remember, you will always have this amazing community to return to, and should you decide to play War Robots again, always remember that it should not affect your happiness in life. It's a game, yes we spent money on it, we felt that the money spent didn't give us results, but it was still a decision made by ourselves when we made those purchases. Guess it's time to direct future monies to actual enjoyment / entertainment! Cheers, [ ?] WilsonK.

But I think the new bots or prices are not that kind of a problem for having fun in the game. How many mmorpg are there, where new content is most likely just new maps or new enemies. I think of whales just as a new gimmick to entertain me, and I love to find out how to crack the new bosses. ? No frustration involved for me. Hope you can share my thoughts a little, and maybe enjoy the game a little more with us. Wouldn't like to say good bye.

This game has totally changed for the worse ... moreover its not about us leaving, the campers or high league rich brats will make you leave this game sooner or later so there is not much choice left now for free players like me or moderately spending money players like you .. before leaving just do War Robots a favour, by rating them low and submit an eyeopener review, if not nasty .

I've heard of "rooted" phones, but never knew what it was about. I thought it was just a way of taking an ATT or T-Mobil phone and making it work on Verizon or something like that. I had no idea that you could work the system with games as well. Just when I thought society couldn't stoop any lower, someone shows me another facet of human depravity. Will it never stop?

I think the ONLY way to have fun in this game now is to accept that not only will there be someone with bigger guns and bigger bots than you, there will be someone with bigger wallets too. Stop thinking of it as a competition. Its still fun to blow up bots. My stress level was going up because I had inadvertently started to care about my league and my league points. Yes, it still gets to me sometimes, but I try not to let it bother me. Now, I'm focusing on upgrading bots that I like to play. I'll be dusting off my second Rog, and I give up on trying to go head to head with others on pure damage points. I made my million damage landmark...I'm good with that.
And I bagged a whale today! The Inquisitor looks sweet, but looks even better under constant DB fire!

The Inquisitor looks sweet, but looks even better under constant DB fire! I don't really care about my league standing, as much as surviving longer than four minutes in a battle. My Android level 9 bots are getting fried quicker than a corndog at the State Fair. I've changed my tactics to trying to shoot from a distance and hit and run maneuvers, but I'm still out of most of matches before the 5 minute mark. It doesn't help that I'm at mid Diamond III, and sometimes going up against teams that have an Expert III in them. It's pretty sad when I mech out a couple of minutes before the match ends, and I'm sometimes still in the top three scorers. What's particularly frightening is when I mech out a full 2 minutes before the match ends, and I'm still the top scorer for the blue team. It's not an every day occurrence, but it happens a lot more often than it should. BTW Good job on catching your whale, Ahab.

The Inquisitor looks sweet, but looks even better under constant DB fire! As I said in another thread, I've been trying to do exactly this -- just enjoy the game play and blowing stuff up, and don't worry about stats and leagues. And then I played about 5 games in a row with my clan against champions and got absolutely spanked. Not much room too blow stuff up when you're melted by maxed out Orkans before barely getting a shot off. Then I played a couple of solo games with almost the same results. Even the few games I won still somehow sucked. And that wasn't screwing around with alternate builds, that was with my 10/10 damage hangar, because my screw-around hangar was getting wasted even faster. There was just no fun to be had last night, and those kinds of game sessions are becoming increasingly frequent. I play the game to have fun, and I don't have the kind of time any more to wade through the crap streaks in hopes it will turn around and get fun again. And that's why my cups have fallen from around 1000 a week to maybe 300. I haven't even hit 200 yet this week -- that's not a very encouraging sign, and iOS hasn't even gotten the latest update yet. My wife always asks me why I keep playing a game that I'm always swearing at; I'm starting to ask myself the same thing.

I'll keep playing until an alternate comes along. Battle of Titans is looking good and it'll be nice to get in on the ground floor of a game for once. This game took me away from a more expensive hobby, so I do appreciate it for that. I can't go toe to toe with many players, so I'm going to stop trying and try to focus on bots that were fun to play. I started playing a Gepard with gekkos and that had some chuckle value, and at least I wasn't so frustrated on large maps whenever I fielded it. At least I could shoot back at the snipers while dodging their treb fire. It was challenging too, and wasn't a snooze fest at all because I had to keep an eye out for anyone getting too close.

And, like you, I ask myself why I keep playing a game that makes my blood pressure go off the scale. I guess I keep playing because I keep hoping that things will improve. Yes, I've dropped a few bucks on the game recently. I'm hoping to get a little more return from it before I give it up, and take up basket weaving instead.

Fear not, Battle of Titans comes out this fall!
Also, don't be ashamed about spending money on the game. The way I see it, you paid for entertainment. This is similar to paying to watch a movie or going to an amusement park. You don't walk away with anything tangible but that doesn't mean you didn't get anything.

What I'm saying is, if one invests in the intangable, they hope that it will last as long as possible. When one purchases a pass at Disneyland, they hope that it will last a year, then they find out that it only turns out to last a month or two. Although somewhat disappointing, it's not the end of the world.

Rooted Android = custom ROMs - OS, removal of bloatware, performance enhancements etc. Avoiding bloatware isn't an issue for me. It's when people hack in to a game just so that they can exploit it and have all the fancy toys is. I fail to see the pleasure in that. Finding an exploit and saying "Yay me.", and then moving on to something else is one thing. But to hack in just to ruin the game for everyone else, there's something sick about that. Hackers are like children that need to disassemble something so that they can see how it works. I can understand that to a certain extent. I don't necessarily approve, but I understand their need to see if they can beat the system. Many hackers find a flaw in software then report it to the software companies. Some people actually make good money from the finders fees. Black Hats are those who like hacking in to the game just so they can kick the [poo-poo] out of everyone just because they can. And that is nothing more than cyber bullying. That person needs help.
