Stumbled onto the game recently, and find it fun. Has traces that remind me of Chrome Hounds and Armored Core, which I like. So ... yeah, new blood here, got the idea of whats needed ("death button Griffins", "Ancellots"... ect ect). Only things I'm uncertain of right now is clan joining (if a clan would even want me) and how I'm to get a Butch without spending $150 cuz I don't have any friends and I don't bother with Facebook. I reaaaaally want that Butch after what I've seen and how it looks. xD

If you don't want to spend money, you will need to get lucky, either spinning with keys, or in one of pix's periodic "events". As of right now , Butch is not available for Au or Ag, so you can't grind for it.

Yeah, you only THINK you want a Butch. They do look cool, and they can deal out some long range hurt, but they're oh so squishy up close. Few things I like killing more...
As one who has yet to spend the 1st dime on this game, let me advise you to be patient, build slowly, and don't worry about your league rank. The only real benefit to advancement is the gold payout, and it's not a lot.
This game is a lot of fun, aside from other player's sometimes. You'll see them soon if you haven't already. They'll be the guys with monster hangars down in the kiddie pool, crushing everything.

Simple answer. Don't get a Butch. There are plenty of other bots in this game that are more fun to play, deal more damage, look way better, and well, you get the idea.

Simple answer. Don't get a Butch. There are plenty of other bots in this game that are more fun to play, deal more damage, look way better, and well, you get the idea. Butch was to fill the 5th spot once unlocked, as I hear the Fury gets shut down. My thoughts were to secure a sniper for long range maps, and the Butch pushes all the right buttons for me, while bypassing the shutdown. My ideal line up at this point in my head looks like DB Griffin, Taran Griffin, DB Rhino, Taran Ancellot, Trib Butch |

welcome to War Robots! as others have said, and as the owner of a maxed butch/treb, Dont worry about that right now. I Know, it looks cool, I get it. But, right now Orks, Tarans, 5th slot, these should all be higher on your priority list. And you heard wrong. the fury doesnt get "shut down" any faster than a Butch. Im fact, the butch is slower than a Fury. I have both maxed. Promise. :-)

welcome to War Robots! as others have said, and as the owner of a maxed butch/treb, Dont worry about that right now. I Know, it looks cool, I get it. But, right now Orks, Tarans, 5th slot, these should all be higher on your priority list. And you heard wrong. the fury doesnt get "shut down" any faster than a Butch. Im fact, the butch is slower than a Fury. I have both maxed. Promise. :-) Yep, 5th slot on the highest priority, but I was looking ahead with how it was going to line up and fill out. You say the fury doesn't get shutdown? I heard shields were giving it that much trouble. I should have enough workshop by then to outfit my mechs better. As of right now I'm still running off a silver fueled arsenal, and just purchasing upgrades/ WS points. |

Just trust me on this. :-) Rhino was to serve as cap retrieval / damage dealer, a heavy mech with a shield that can run 60 km/h if needed for the cost of its top weapons, right? I thought outfitting a Rhino with Orkan/Pinata could take caps and fend off any light defenders I notice that nest the area, or just serve as muscle if needed. |

Im fact, the butch is slower than a Fury. I have both maxed. Promise. :-) I pretty much agree... with everything but the Fury vs Butch speed.... Butch maxes out at 39Kph while Fury is 33. Just a stickler for the details! Butch is actually speedy for a Heavy. But LOW in HP. Even so, the OP can build up a sniper setup for a Natasha (although the best ones include Au Gekkos, Ag Molots aren't bad as a stand-in), and still do some good damage... while waiting to decide on the Fury vs Butch. But yes, 5th slot and Orkans should be Au priorities, in complete agreement. As to the OP's question about clans and voice comms. Short answer is "yes" there is benefit to clans and yes comms are better. Long answer: A clan is nice if you are in a good one. There are bad ones galore... but good ones that do more than beg for Au gifts and free accounts DO exist. As far as in-game comms... Most of us use an outside-of-the-game comm app... Discord or Line Chat are the ones I hear the most about. (My clan uses Line for both text and voice comms since it seems to do better for international connections... while Discord seems to be a better overall setup for intra-clan comms and information dissemination. We just found that with members in Oz, Asia, Europe, and the States, it was plagued with lag. Line seems to handle that better.) Anyway... a "good" clan will teach and squad regularly... some are ultracompetitive and practice skills to a razor edge while having strict requirements in what you can run, others are laid back and have no rules except to squad when you can and stay active. We fall somewhere in between, which I dig. By the same token, there is a mercenary registry here that is full of folks that squad outside of clans... Unfortunately the only way to get in game friends is to link with your FB acct and befriend others who have done the same... then you can squad with folks and meet up on Discord without getting into a clan. *** Also, just an FYI, someone said that the Butch can't be grinded for... but they can. There is a Au to IP conversion in game. Butch, last time I looked, was the only one that was a 1:1 cost ratio between Au and IP.... 14k.
After choosing "Change Bot" and then making sure you are in the "Store" and not in your "Inventory", when you scroll to and select any of the WW bots you will see that they cost IP... there should now be a "+" next to your IP in the upper left by your Au and Ag... you can click on that "+" buy some there with Au. Note that your account does not show IP next to your Ag and Au unless you are looking at the WW bots in the store. That is the only way that I know of to see how many you have. I have no idea why that is... :/

A Butch is fun to have because you can butcher reds from far away, but right now to grind for your tons of silver etc, go for the powerhouse medium hardpoint weapons first (i.e. Orkans / Tarans)! And of course, 5th slot!

Have you done speedtests on the device you're playing to see how well your connectivity is? |

Connection issues are the only gripe I have... currently. Overall, they are better for me than a week or so ago, but still... not that fun.

From what I found searching on the forums, there is a mention that Wi-Fi and cellular seem to nit-pick at each other ... fun times. Hmm it'll be good to run a speedtest. You can download the app "Speedtest" and check out your latency, that is the most important. Probably let us know the results thereafter? |

Welcome,
So much good advise above. don't worry about anything for the time being. Play the game for a couple of weeks, collect info, start exploring how you like playing the game and with what bots and weapons. Then start making plans.
Seems like you are willing to spend RM. if so, look out for the gold (only) specials, lance special (comes around all the time), rog special. Don't buy the specials when silver is bundled in. And especially be very careful when WSP specials come around (eg tarans and magnums). avoid those like the plague.
