what is the best Rhino build? Im looking to close range knife fight so Im limited to tarans and orkans. I could use punishers but as I already use a thunder carnage, my hangar may be too biased to one weapon. However if you think punisher rhino rocks, please say so. For the tarans I was going to do pinatas on the light hardpoints, to help deal with the shielded bots as well as give me the extra out front damage, as opposed to a constant, lesser damage. The orkans would be your classic DB loadout with 2 orkans and 2 pinatas. Also, how many rhinos is overkill to have in your hangar. I think I will have 2 or maybe 3.
Tl;Dr - Taran pinata or Death button (or both) for Rhino, and where does a punisher rhino fall on that spectrum.
Thanks! mcciv

How many Rhinos... it depends! I saw some hangar having good 3 results even with 3 of them. Full Pun build isn't good. Too much time without your shield up. DB, PDB or Hellfire (magnum - Ork) are the best

I vote for punishser orkan. Thunder Carnage is more suitable for small maps but this rhino setup is deadly on every map. You can drain ancile while making your way into 300m range, or the punisher can dish out quite a lot of reliable damage when your orkan is reloading.

I wouldn't mix Tarans with pinatas. Mixed ranges, plus one is good against anciles and one is good against shields, which makes you less effective against both.
I have two Rhinos but only ever run one (PDB, save my 4 high level Orks for Rogs). I like Orks on 'bots that can jump out of trouble. DB Rhino can be a bit of a one-shot suicide 'bot (which has its uses as a first-drop beacon runner, however in my pub games on Yamantau it is a waste since most other players seem to drop in slow mid-rangers).

Rhino builds, Rhino wrecks! LOL kidding I'd vote for punishers since you can rush at someone's face to get very close so you can deal maximum damage, they melt a Griffin in half a clip, DB is also good but I've won against DB with my punisher Griffin many times by taking advantage of the range.

I run two Rhinos in my hanger in expert league:
First is DB (Orkan/Pinata) - if you're patient and watch the reds usually you can position yourself to melt a red that strays from the pack and re-position while you reload.
My other is my Ancilot killer (Orkan/Punisher) - I used to run two DB or a DB/PDB but i'm not a fan of plasma on a Rhino, high level punishers strip anciles down with in assault mode and if you time it right there's no ancile when you drop in 300m and you can unload the orkans. Bonus that you can stand still in assault mode in 351-500m range and provide cover for blues while being somewhat protected.

Question. Is it just me or does the Rhino not have that pause when he charges off a ledge in assault mode? I've had my Rhino charge off that wall on the Moon map after going up the ramp and it'll continue charging without a pause to flex the knees.
Other times, though, I've had it flex its knees. I think when I come off a ledge unblalanced - ie, if the ledge was on an angle or there was another ramp or platform directly underneath.

There is really no best Rhino build. It all depends on the skill of the player and you may need to test out different types of Rhinos before you find your pick on the one you pilot best.
Common Rhinos: Plasma Rhino Death Button Rhino Orkan Magnum Rhino Orkan Aphid Rhino Taran Aphid Rhino
Uncommon Rhinos (but still usable): Punisher Rhino Molot Rhino Russian Rhino
For me, the Plasma Rhino works the best. There are plenty of Taran Ancile Lancelots for the Rhino to pick off and it performs quite well against certain types of Griffins.

Rock on! Hydra/Spiral build! This is what I call the "Chicken S__t Rhino" build. You run this for Rhinos that are scared to get in the thick of things and just want to sit out and fire away.

I could use punishers but as I already use a thunder carnage, my hangar may be too biased to one weapon. I don't think they are comparable weapons. I am going to say the obvious to better understand: Thunder is a pellet shotgun, letal at point blank, hardly noticeable beyond 350/400 and timed shots. Punishers are machineguns with a very large clip that can do consistent damage way up to 480 since the bullet spread is different. The downside with punishers is that you have to be exposed for long periods of time to do severe damage, which is not the case with Thunders. I have a thunder carnage AND a punisher griffin, which in my view is better than punisher rhino, since you can start firing a bot and when it jumps or runs to catch you, you jump backwards and keep firing. I tried all classic loadouts in Rhino and orkan pinata is the best IMHO.

I have, reluctantly, shelved one of my Rogs and moved the Orkans and a couple of Piñatas to my Rhino.
It rocks!
I think for BR DB or PDB are most effective, even though in the past in classic Domination mode I was a fan of hellfire (Ork Mags).

I find the DB set up the best. I've been trying to find alternatives to cover its weaknesses but I always end up going back to full-on DB. It makes the best use of its HP edge over the Griffin so it cannot beat you in a damage race inside your wheelhouse.

@darkangel12s - agreed.
If I may add (a little off topic), theres is though gun based, energy based and rocket/missile based build. At best there is only most common build.
General rule which most, if not all, know is that dont mix different range/type weapons/bots for maximum efficiency and damage.

Do damage on the way to center beacon with shield up, then when beacon turns blue, unload orkans.
