"Punctuation for Readability."
Members will take a pledge to do their best to punctuate sentences properly. This includes use of commas, semicolons, periods, question marks, exclamation marks (preferably used in the singular), quotes, apostrophes, and parentheticals. We will not promise to be perfect, but we will try our best to make posts readable and comprehensible.
Where appropriate, we will also use line breaks. We will be an inclusive group when it comes to such controversial subjects as the Oxford comma and hyphenation.
To join the group, pledge yourself below.
Edit: Capitalization will also be a tool in our arsenal.

Traditional punctuation rules don't apply for hash tag statements I assume?

What about making paragraphs?
I always find it hard to read when people decide to make every sentence it own paragraph.
Like this.

Language changes, and well it should. Grammar Nazis are extreme conservatives and the reason our language is illogical nonsense.

And for style, will we be using CMOS or APA? I prefer the former.
I'm in!

I didn't finish reading the OP's post but I pledge to whatever because I'm a 「extra friendly woman」. ?.
I always use full sentences and punctuation, though. I like others others to be able to read my posts and do so without thinking about how much of an idiot I am.

Language changes, and well it should. Grammar Nazis are extreme conservatives and the reason our language is illogical nonsense. People that faithfully follow and add to the ever-growing urban dictionary notwithstanding. Less. After all the FCC regulations are a farce. I got to hear "bull?poo-poo?" in the free and clear on an AM station on the way to work this morning.

To quote the Dalai Lama: "Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively."
Count me in.
Good punctuation, grammar, and structure are courtesies that the writer should show the reader. A post should be intelligible and unambiguous, and not be onerous or difficult to understand. If you have to read it more than once to try and understand what the writer meant then it was poor writing.
This is not the same as being a grammar nazi. Some of the best writing "breaks the rules". And so it should.
Language evolves continually. That doesn't mean we shouldn't fight against lazy or sloppy usage that reduces the clarity and expressiveness of this beautiful language. For instance, I agonised over whether or not to use "continuously" or "continually" in this sentence. They mean different things, yet many people use the words interchangeably. If we allow this we would have a less expressive language.
We don't want to end up speaking "Newspeak".

It's an informal forum meant to engage with others from all walks of like in a common interest we have: blowing up giant robots. I've been on some nasty forums, and this one is very good just the way it is. If you cannot grasp the meaning of a particular post due to its grammar mistakes, then do what I do: move on. You don't have to read EVERY single post on this forum. I don't.

Though I would expect nothing less from someone who has taken the name of a famous Greek statesman and orator of ancient Athens.
