Obviously, Guitar is my thing. Just curious how many avid musicians we have playing War Robots and what instruments they play. If you like to record music, give me a shout out too! I am a studio gear head as well.

I was a bass player back in the day. Just a hack with no training, but i stayed busy with the local clubs. All my gear is gone now and honestly I have no time for it anymore. Had some fun, got in some trouble. Youth.

Not too much of an avid musician myself, but during my time as an instrumentalist, I played the french horn. For those who don't know what it is, here's a picture of what it looks like. It may not be a stand-out instrument in a music industry prevalent with piano, vocals, and guitars, but in a world of its own (especially in orchestral pieces), it is a beast among instruments (one that I can proudly say, an instrument I play).

I play the guitar, bass, drums, and an Indonesian nose flute (LOL). I can't read music though. I guess I should have studied music instead of engineering.

I was a band geek in high school and played most woodwinds. My kids are in band now, so I pick them up from time to time. Spent my college days in rock bands playing guitar, bass, and keys. Still pick it up from time to time and even record a little now and then.

Cool! Lovely to see numerous musicians on the forum. What a great thread idea - very appropriate considering your name GuitarGuy Music is my job. I'm an Aussie, but I'm actually a full time opera singer here in Europe, for the last 8 years now. I'm also an avid guitar player, but I got no one to jam with right now. Also play some piano at church, but more of a chordal accompaniment guy than classical player. My first instruments though we're single reed woodwind. The clarinet stays firmly in the box these days though. Been in and out of the studio, both behind the mic and desk, but I wouldn't say I'm particularly good at either. Studio recording is indeed an art form apart from live performance and I tip my cap to those who have a knack for it. It might also be that, much like hearing yourself speak on video, it's hard to ever be happy with your own vocal work in the studio. Kudos to those who do it well In fact, kudos to anyone who likes to try their hand at any music. No matter what level you play at, the rewards are awesome.

I forgot to say, I know to play accordion too.. Oh God, I played accordion for about 10 years, including majoring in it for two in college school. I grew to hate it so bad I changed majors to management. Now I play keyboards and sing. Was in a bluesy originals band, then an awesome classic rock cover band, then a piano/guitar duo, then I went solo for awhile, then my health went to 「dookie」 and now I just play with by and for myself.

I'm a multi-instrumentalist but not professionally (I work in finance). I played in bands when I was younger and recorded jingles part time for a while, but now I just play for fun. My father's family are all very musical which is what got me into playing. I had an uncle that was in a pretty famous rock band, but for the sake of anonymity, I won't mention which band (but any of you who are familiar with 70s rock would probably know it).

I play drums... have for years, nothing serious. Right now I have a Roland kit... which is actually an amazing sounding kit with a good Amp (or P.A.) and is super easy to record.
I am with a group that is comprised of 2 Brothers and a talented rock/metal singer... not screamer, but actual singer. Looking for a rhythm guitarist now... but it's not anything that I expect to get very far with, it's just really nice to write and play originals and VERY unique covers of various songs that end up sounding like originals to a degree. Maybe not covers... how bout remakes?
Can pick around a little on the 6 string and a little more on the 4 string, and can do OK on a keyboard/piano for a complete noob.
I've done some home recoding, not much and not really gear intensive. I used Fruity Loops Producer to create some pretty fun songs for my own enjoyment and loops for live music accompaniment. I specialize in beats and making as real sounding beats as possible with a sequencer. Fruity Loops has a very good but simple to learn sequencer that makes it pretty easy. I love synthesizers and manipulating sound.
I am enamored with electronic music of many types and have tried my hand at a few Trance, DnB, and, when it was new, some wub wub songs. I haven't done it in a while... but I do hope to get back into it once I get another PC.
BTW, if I could have any instrument right now... I would prolly sell a kidney for a true blue Hang Drum.
Great thread idea!

I've played over a decade of violin (and shortly for about 2 years: viola). Then stopped those because A: I've grown to hate classical and the many rules that come with playing violin/viola B: My old HS orchestra was full of snakes (not the animal kind)
Now I'm happily a guitarist, wielding an amazing .Strandberg* Boden OS7

Whoa my brotha. I had an odd feeling to bring this up with you sometime. We squaded the other night but I didn't mention it....so I was a professional violinist. That morphed into tons of studio gigs in Chicago and playing with loads of bands (indie mainly) then I moved to....GA 5 years ago. Wow I had no idea you lived in Ga. funnier I moved from the Milton/Alpharetta area a year ago. We were in the same place! If you ever need strings I'm not far. I have a degree in violin performance and about 15 years experience in the studio and playing live in a non-classical setting. Also mandolin.

It's called Outlawsound Wow! I drooled when I saw your studio. My home studio basically became an oversized closet full of gadgets once my kids were born. It's functional (although a bit outdated now) and it's fine for DI recording, but I miss having a room setup to record acoustic stuff. I took a look at your website and saw your list of clients. Congrats to you, having evolved beyond recording just bands and reaching out into TV networks and commercials. A lot of studios where I live folded about 10 years ago, not knowing how to adapt to the changing landscape of the recording industry. I have to ask... what's your favorite guitar at the moment? Is it the Tele hanging from the wall in studio B?

Is it the Tele hanging from the wall in studio B? Staying in business in the Digital Revolution is quite challenging. Many studios folded in Atlanta in the early 2000s when everyone thought getting a $300 Pro Tools Rig would instantly make them a hit record. I had a commercial facility years ago but opted to renovate the entire downstairs of my house instead of paying rent on a commercial building. It keep overhead down and my rates are much more competitive. My specialty is live drums and electric guitar tracks but we do a bit of everything from TV and Radio commercials to Reamping for clients who need Kemper profiles. Ahh. Favorite guitar.. at the moment it would be this 1986 Wayne Garrett custom JCX Stratocaster made for Jeff Cook of the country group Alabama back in there peak. The distressed paint job is courtesy of Hurricane Katrina. Its all Warmoth parts and the body is string through. the neck is like an 80s jap strat, very narrow profile with smaller frets. When I first saw and played it, It was a magical experience. The guitar had a story to tell and it oozes out when you play it, its one of the slinkiest feeling action ive every played, notes just pop right out of it. I tend to write riffs on it alot as the magic pops out everytime I put it in my hands.

As somebody that also works at a retail musical instrument shop and sell close to 100 guitars a year I've helped many men like yourself work on their "I've had that" look.. it's a simple and dismissive look you give your wife when she asks about a new guitar.
