Gi is an abbreviation for general issue or government issue, and is generally used to denote basic equipment given to servicemen by the government: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._(military) I've never seen GL used to abbreviate General, and can't find any instances of it with Google, so I believe it is General Issue Patton (as in a Robot that happened to be named after George Patton that the government would issue to basic servicemen ), not GL Patton. It would be similar to a Sherman tank in WW2 being considered general issue, so it might be abbreviated by GI Sherman for General Issue Sherman, even though the tank itself is named after the famous Civil War General Sherman. Also it is similar to GI Joe, General Issue Joe.

If so, why is there no full stop after the G then?

IDK if it is a translation issue or what, but it may very well be "Gl" instead of "GI"... it's sorta hard to tell. IF it is, then it is wrong, but not really an issue tbh... either it is or it isn't GI. We all know what the Patton is. However, my search for references to it led me to faq.Walking War Robots.mobi/hc/en-us/articles/203655871 which led me to this epic early gameplay featuring no mech out wins and an epic (LOL ) Spiral Patton duel, and a snippet at the end that seems to indicate that there was a time that you could not use damaged mechs after a battle... soooo glad that is gone btw. For nostalgia's sake:

L. Gl. is an abbreviation for "General". Nah. It's an "I". As in "Gastro Intestinal." Because facing quad Gekko/Aphid/Pinata makes you 「dookie」 yourself in the lower levels.

Actually, the GI in GI Joe is a reference to General Infantry... yes, I know, there was nothing general about GI Joe, and they had more than infantry...

Actually, the GI in GI Joe is a reference to General Infantry... yes, I know, there was nothing general about GI Joe, and they had more than infantry... That is incorrect. It is a reference to when Dwight Eisenhower thanked the average general issue solider, calling him GI Joe. "The American five-star General Dwight D. Eisenhower said in 1945 that 'the truly heroic figure of this war [is] G.I. Joe and his counterpart in the air, the navy, and the Merchant Marine of every one of the United Nations.'" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._(military)www.history.com/news/ask-history/why-are-american-soldiers-called-gis"G.I. Joe is a line of action figures produced by the toy company Hasbro. The initial product offering represented four of the branches of the U.S. armed forces with the Action Soldier, Action Sailor, Action Pilot, Action Marine and later on, the Action Nurse. The term G.I. stands, in popular usage, for Government Issued and after the First World War became a generic term for U.S. soldiers. The origin of the term dates to World War I, when much of the equipment issued to U.S. soldiers was stamped "G.I.", meaning that it was made from galvanized iron. The development of G.I. Joe led to the coining of the term "action figure". G.I. Joe's appeal to children has made it an American icon among toys. The G.I. Joe trademark has been used by Hasbro to title two different toy lines. The original 12-inch line that began in 1964 centered on realistic action figures. In the United Kingdom, this line was licensed to Palitoy and known as Action Man. In 1982, the line was relaunched in a 3¾-inch scale complete with vehicles, playsets, and a complex background story involving an ongoing struggle between the G.I. Joe Team and the evil Cobra Command which seeks to take over the Free World through terrorism. As the American line evolved into the Real American Hero series, Action Man also changed, by using the same molds and being renamed as Action Force. Although the members of the G.I. Joe team are not superheroes, they all had expertise in areas such as martial arts, weapons and explosives."

If you go to Pixonic's Knowledge Base page for Gl. Patton you can copy and play with the text they use... faq.Walking War Robots.mobi/hc/en-us/articles/203655871 They use a lowercase L. The arguments for an 'i' make more sense to me but an L is what I see being used.

Is it G "I" or "L" Patton? It is General Patton. Pixonic's abbreviation for General is "G", lowercase L, period. You can confirm directly with Pixonic, as I had done. "Hello! Thank you for contacting War Robots technical support. Please, be aware that the correct pronunciation is General Patton. You are welcome to share any other requests with us! Best regards, Oksana War Robots support team"

Apparently Pixo has a weird abbreviation for General.
Gen. is the typically used one. And GI or G.I. is definitely Government Issue/d.
Good to know it's called a General Patton I guess. However convoluted their reasoning.

LOL at all the debate over what does G.I. stand for *facepalm*It's meant to be "Government Issued" or "Generally Issued" For war robots, the letters used are G & L. TheWWRNerdGuy you might be "generally" right about General. In other terms, GL is General Ledger, didn't know Patton was an accountant! ALL-IN-ALL people, just take it that it can stand for (and not limited by your imagination), and taking into account of being an I or L: 1) Generally Intimate Patton 2) Generally Irritating Patton 3) Generally Loathsome Patton 4) Generally Liquidative Patton 5) Generally Important Patton 6) Generally Lucky Patton 7) Generally Licking Patton 8) Generally Lustful Patton 9) Generally Intellectual Patton 10) Generally Loser's Patton Bla bla bla... you guys can go and think about it. I'm lazy to think of others already, you can even change the G!
