Hahaha. Why do think they've hyped it so far in advance? At a guess if you go through all the main YouTube War Robots channels I'll be they've been shilling it for a while now.
Hype + YouTube sell = demand. The current specs they come out at they could entice those that have a heap of gold saved to buy gold.
It's very smart business. "if you're on top and want to stay on top. Spend. If you want to get to the top, spend."
It targets players most important to the business.

14k is the release price during the event went they will go for a special currency. They will not cost 14k when openly available altough I suspect the price to be a bit higher than the britbots, the heavy at 7500 gold to keep up in game inflation would make sense in the Pixonomics frame of mind. They have to get us used to a price tag of over 5k so we fork over more and more gold for new gear.

Here's my prediction: As soon as they're out, major YouTube channel players will get handed them, probably along with scourge. They'll make videos showing how well they'll do. Those in the top tiers that paid for what they had will pay to stay up there. Those that farmed could possible be short a few K. As their numbers increases they'll be seen close to invincible in game which further drives up demand. Once someone have forked a straight $100 for one it'll be easier to convince them to do so again. Good business sense really.

It wouldn't be hard to counter the appearance of dashbots especially as a squad. The recent buffs saw to that. But it will be a detriment to overall gameplay.

I have almost 7k saved up and was ready to buy a dash. However if they are 14k i'll pass. I'd rather just stay around diamond 1/expert III and grind it out indefinitely.
Dashes are definitely overpowered though. However, the 1 million+ damage stats I was experiencing on test server was with running 4 or more of them. So..at 14k apiece that's 56,000 gold + unknown cost of scourge to have an overpowered meta breaking hanger of 4x dashes.
Gold is currently priced at $99.99 USD for 14k..so do the math. It will cost over $500 to stay "competitive."
「fluffernutter」 that.
I think some wealthy Chinese kids will be running whole hangers of these while they have one hand steering their ferrari in Shanghai.

Well, the Doc, a medium bot, costs 7500 gold converted to IP. Getting steeper and steeper.

Well, the Doc, a medium bot, costs 7500 gold converted to IP. Getting steeper and steeper. I pulled a doc in the last anniversary chest and even though it's a fun bot it is worth nowhere close to 7.5k gold. If things were priced realistically the doc is worth 3k at best. Jesse a 2k bot. The butch should be 5k. Come to think of it the fury should only cost around 3.5k. It's a very brittle bot despite the utility of 3 heavy slots. It's still less useful than a lancelot.

I think I might just consider defenestrating investment in Dash bots in the immediate future altogether and get a Galahad instead - the only Britbot I don't yet have. Way cheaper.

Look at how much some people pump into this game now -- they'll keep doing it to have the latest and greatest hardware.

Well not that there are many positives to draw from those price tags, but I think it would mean they would have a relatively soft landing in game. With the exception of perhaps the highest tiers you certainly won't be seeing hangers full of them. I have no problem spending RM on the game but at that pricing level I would see it as very much a premium purchase that I would not take likely. And no doubt the zapper weapon will cost a few more k to add to that.
Being objective about it I could probably stretch to buy one at some point after I have seen how they land and then that would be it for a good long while. Might try to get the wife to make one a Christmas or birthday present six months down the road. And that would only be if still playing the game to the same level and enjoying it enough to justify €109.99 and there are a lot of others things out there in the real world that could easily compete for that spend.
It does mean I will be sticking with many of my current bots for the foreseeable future, so I suppose I can get on with the upgrades.

I think Pixonic may be ignoring the fact that they have to be competitive against real life leisure expenditures as well. Unless I just had too much money to spend, I'm going to have a hard time justifying this purchase in comparison to other leisure and entertainment options. As you pointed out though, the positive is that we won't see many of them. The top tier spenders, and the YouTubers that might get them for free in exchange for free advertising of them. Going to be interesting to see how long they stay at that price if that's what they're released at.

There's a big downside to all of this. A lot of the guys in LQ + champion league with maxxed out hangers who have amassed vast fortunes clubbing and through other nefarious activities. THEY are the ones who will be able to buy hangers full of these bots right off the bat. This creates an even more steep competition gap which rewards the cheaters the most.
Not only that but if they ever exit LQ they will absolutely destroy NQ with their overpowered dash hangers. They won't need to club. They can just play normal with their cheat mode bots and just have their way with everyone else.

I would rather buy F1 2017, forza horizon 3 ( both put together will be cheaper then dash bots) rather then spend that much on a game, where at some poing pixo may stop to support.

Going to be interesting to see how long they stay at that price if that's what they're released at. I would imagine they will have to keep it at whatever price they launch it at, but depending on sales levels, their might be more gold sales, 25% off a 140 chest or something like that. I think it certainly means people will plan out if and what they want to spend RM on. I think this pricing level is beyond the level of gridable (outside the LQ anyway). So once stockpiles are spent it is pay RM to own the shines new dots. As an example I currently have premium, might think twice about that, it's great don't get me wrong, but might go slower on the upgrades and target the RM spend down the road.
